I couldn’t be more pleased with Lana from Make Like A Tree! I fell way behind with my front and backyard upkeep with these shorter winter days and needed A LOT of help. A friend recommended her for her economical and environmentally friendly approach.
Lana is very knowledgeable about the plants I have in my yard (lots of succulents and cactuses) and suggested some other drought-​resistant plants I can keep alive here in the Outer Sunset. She definitely has a green thumb and a creative aesthetic eye. Her rates are reasonable, and she is very professional: on time, good at communicating, and cleaned up after working, leaving my yard looking much better than before.
Lana taught me some cool tricks for keeping weeds under control (a huge issue with the sandy soil out here): she used cardboard and mulch to cover up and control the weeds in my back yard. Within a few hours, the space had gotten a face lift! I have gotten many compliments from friends and neighbors. More importantly, the weeds have not returned.
I know Make Like a Tree also offers garden ‘coaching’. Once the days get longer and I have more time to work in my yard, I would love to learn more about the plants and gardening so I can take better care of them myself. Under Lana’s guidance, I am hoping to start a vegetable garden this Spring. :)
