Lightning’s Boxing Club

My son has been coming to this gym for two weeks he trains with Monte who is a excellent trainer and takes pride into his work. We really like this gym and I see a change in my son with self confidence and him truly enjoying boxing he goes Monday through Friday and also Saturday’s…this gym is well organized and like a home away from home. Finally we found a place where my son can grow with being trained to become a boxer!!!

One month after joining the gym I have lost 20lbs. This was my first time in a boxing gym and the owner Kris made sure I was comfortable and instructed me like the professional that he is. He helped push me and guide me to a steady weight loss. I have recommended this boxing gym to all my friends and family.

I did the 6 week bootcamp with Dante and loved it. It was a great way to get back in shape and his focus was clearly on boxing technique and developing a love for boxing. There was a lot of work, don’t get me wrong but the focus was on the boxing and not just insane conditioning. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Dante — do it again!

I couldn’t agree more with all the other reviews. My wife and I were looking to trim down a bit and always fantasized about joining a boxing gym. I will admit to being pretty intimidated when we walked in to check the place out — it’s a no frills boxing gym with nothing short of everything you need to push yourself to the limit and get in shape. When we signed up, Kris’ first question was, «So, see you tomorrow?»
Starting from zero knowledge of boxing, Kris has been great at slowly introducing new concepts and helping us through our training. He has a great sense of humor and is very encouraging. Every workout is brutal and I always leave exhausted and satisfied. Looking forward to our next visit!

What a great place for a workout. Chris is a terrific guy and is also helping underserved kids from Oakland. This is a no nonsense boxing gym but you always feel comfortable. I am over 60 and just go to get a cardio workout, not planning on entering the ring. If that’s what you want though he’ll get you ready. I work out with Dante Rodrigues and he pushed me just to the limit, varies the workout and has done much for my endurance, balance and physical well being. Unfortunately, being in a warehouse there are no shower facilities. Still, I can’t wait for my next session. Added plus is a great dog «Fat Boy.»

This is the place for women to go when you’re tired of seeing other women in full make-​up, trying not to sweat, strutting on the treadmills with hopes of catching at the gym. Lightnings Boxing Club is a real boxing gym… no fuss, no frills. Just the ring, gloves, machines, weights and sweat! You hurt and you envision hurting Trainer Lopez for making you so sore. But the result? no spandex, no filter and no photoshop when you got on your body con dress. Trainer Lopez is down to earth, knows the sport and has a true passion for fitness. Love this place and would recommend Trainer Lopez to any woman seeking a break from the cookie cutter gyms in Oakland.

If you want to get fit, get ripped, or just get back into shape, this is the place! I lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks and already learned a lot about boxing. Feeling stronger, more energized, and more motivated with every workout. This place is legit!

Stop making excuses and come in… Whether your a competitive athlete trying to raise your game, or someone who’s always wanted to learn the fundamentals of Boxing, or trying to recommit to exercise in your life. This place is as authentic as they come.

There was much more than a will to get in better shape when I decided to personally train with Kris. I needed to find myself again. I was looking for more than words, a way to move on with speed, ambition, and perseverance to my life. That is what I got from my sixteen sessions, and to be honest I didn’t even know that is what I really wanted.
My core and whole body was put into shock I left each session shaking from the work out I have never experienced in my life. I struggled, it wasn’t easy but, Kris I would have to say is the best to train with. He understands beyond the routine, he understands how each person is different and how much they can handle and where they just need to be pushed.
I started getting results in my body immediately and it only kept on improving as I went on everyday. My body was getting tighter, and stronger by the hour. Best of all, given it was boxing, I was fighting myself, and you really notice that when you are shadow boxing. I fought myself to wake up, and get my booty over there everyday, I fought myself to keep on pushing through the work out each day, some days were hard. I had a great guide at my side, although he knew it had to come from me.
He inspired me to keep on going on with my bad self;) I’m telling you if you work out with him you won’t be disappointed in any given moment, he mixes it up with many variations to his own well crafted routines. He thinks outside the box… in this case ring.lol. And when he does bring you into the ring the endurance of the heavy work out shows you that you can fight.
I remember one day I was feeling so happy that I came, because that morning I probably wrote two messages saying I wasn’t coming, but I fought myself onto my bicycle and rode my ass over there. I was late but, I was there, even though I really didn’t want to be. Kris did what he did best, he made me feel the heat from my very own core. After that session I was high on life, I felt amazing. I noticed he had a Boxer’s Creed framed on the wall. Each Romain numeral I read I felt more and more connected to this sport, it isn’t even a sport to me, it’s a way of life. It pushes you in all aspects of your life, in a way you couldn’t believe. It was all so simple to me in that moment, why I was there, what I had to do, why I had to fight myself so much.
Now I work out as much as I can, and when I do I push hard, it wouldn’t be a work out if I wasn’t dripping sweat from head to toe. I impress myself even still sometimes when I hit the gym. My body is only getting better, as well as my mind.

This is THE BEST WORKOUT I’VE EVER HAD! I’m so mad I’ve spent so much money and time at «fitness center» when I could receive training and meet my fitness goals at LIGHTNING. Thank you so muck! Friendly and profession environment!

THE FIRST words that come to mind when I think of Lightning’s Boxing Gym: Superb! Outstanding! Superior! Unequalled! Organized! Hard Work! Dedication! SKILLED! this boxing gym is the BEST GYM in the Bay Area and I can bet money on it. This is a family owned gym that is filled with a lot of talent, skills, love, and sincerity. From the first day that I walked into the gym I can sense the genuine energy from Chris and his wife Denise to train, motivate, and help people accomplish their goals. I initially was inquiring about a one time boxing session for my younger brother and I was shocked to see that adults and children of all ages also attended the gym. I wanted to first get a look of how the sessions went and only had my mind set on letting my little brother attend. Little did I know that very same day I too would be getting a SESSION and joining the gym by the end of the very same day! Chris worked with us hand in hand and taught us PRECISE exercises and routines that would help us both reach our own individual goals! I had only been there for about 2 hours and yet I was dripping with sweat, learning routines that only a SKILLED PROFESSIONAL BOXER (chris) could teach you. I felt like I belonged to the gym already and I was excited to come back. I immediately told EVERYONE THAT I KNEW because this gym is the truth and no matter how old you are, how young, or how out of shape you think you may be; Chris and Denise can help you accomplish your GOALS! I wanted a six pack within the next 6 months and I wanted to desperately tone my body. Within the first month, I kid you NOT… I had a four pack forming, my legs were strong like a stallion, and my arms looked as if I never had flab on them at all. They incorporate a lot of boxing routines, running, drills, ab workouts, and even offer group training sessions. I LOVE THIS GYM! and not only can I say I’ve made friends here, I’ve made a second home! This gym is very diversed and open to anyone who is willing to work hard. *Had to update status* I’ve been training with Lightning for months on end now and I can honestly say I’m truly addicted to this place! My body is exactly where I wanted it to be. I never thought I could see my body transform the way it has on top of learning so many new skills in the ring. Lopez really knows how to train and get you fully motivated!!! Thank you guys, you are the BEST!
I came here with expectations of just losing weight. I found out quickly that losing weight would be a non factor because the daily rountine had me easily dropping two pounds a day. «There is no regimen like a real boxing routine“lol!!! The gym is a boxing gym, not a dance studio its primary purpose is to create the next world champion, but is structured so you work side by side with real life fighters. Ive found myself in love with the technical aspect of the sport and really have taken a liking to boxing. Boxing is first and weight loss has become secondary. What can i say «lightning» knows what hes doing

Tenacity. Perseverance. Craft & Class. Where do I begin? I am a 30 year old female that had no idea about the sport of boxing until I met Kris Lopez the owner of Lightning’s Boxing Club. I mean I have watched boxing matches on television, but never thought I would be conditioning myself for boxing. I have been training with Kris for about 6 weeks now and have become very disciplined because of boxing. I came in not to be a competitive fighter, but to build up my endurance in order to get in shape. Kris reassured me that as a sport boxing is much more than a fight, it’s a «life guide» and will help me get in tune with who I am.
Truly is mind over matter. Kris is able to explain and demonstrate various moves and techniques to everyone no matter your age or gender. Dedication is something that is instilled in everyone that wants to box. There is also a conditioning coach that comes in once week that makes the workout «Insanity» seem easy.
So trust me it is not for anyone that is a quitter. For anyone that wants a change from their local commercial gym membership and want a real workout this is the place. Make an appointment or come in Monday-​Thursday 5−9pm. See you there!
