I went here to accompany my fiancé to a haircut and we had a wonderful experience! I have an appointment tomorrow for hair color so we’ll see how it goes.

I’ve had two haircuts with Kathy now — I’ve been stupidly pleased with the results. I have very short Caucasian hair that can be tricky to color for some reason. Not for Kathy, nailed it both times.
Things I’m stoked about:
No big product sell. Quite the opposite, she told me I didn’t need certain things I thought I might.
Great advice re the photo I bought in — it wasn’t going to quite work for me and she told me so and modified the cut/​colour to work better for me.
The salon is v accommodating re me needing to chop and change my appt around my ridiculous work schedule.
I sit in the chair like a zombie after work and, rudely, I really don’t want to chat. I want to sit there asleep with my eyes open until it’s over. I knows it’s rude but after a long shift I have no small talk left. Kathy is v kind about my zombie-​ness and let’s me just blob. It’s brilliant, I am v appreciative of her kindness.

Very happy with my cut and some adventurous color from Kathy who is both skilled and pleasant.

I showed Brian a few pictures of what I wanted and he worked wonders to perfect my image. Not only did he bring alive exactly what I wanted he also fixed the disastrous damage the previous person had done months ago. Extremely happy and satisfied with the end result. The crew working that day was super cheerful and helpful the whole time too! Definitely making this place my new «regular» place to go every time I need something done to my hair.

Been going to Brian for years now and the new location is even better! He and his whole staff are so talented and professional. From making an appointment, giving you the best options and getting the best cut they are always there to make you look good and leave happy.

I began seeing Brian over a year ago for haircuts and to do highlights and I can’t rave about him enough! I am mixed asian and so my hair texture can be difficult being wavy and fine, yet also having lots of hair that gets frizzy. Cut the wrong way it looks terrible and so I am extremely picky. My first visit with Brian, he was so welcoming and friendly, and took his time to listen to my concerns and still help me figure out what would look good on me since I didn’t know exactly what would be best. He is a true professional and I have never had anyone spend so much time meticulously attending to my hair. He consulted, washed, cut my hair wet, dried, cut my hair final touches while dry, and even styling it to finish off. I also had bayalage highlights and by the end of it my hair looked transformed into greatness!
Since then I have been back a few times and it is always a joy coming to Brian. His new location is beautiful, clean and modern. But prices stay reasonable and he has even toned and conditioned my hair on occasion without any extra charges. Amazing, I highly recommend a visit to this salon!

New place is so chic– and cute. It’s so spacious. Music selection is great. Everyone is so friendly here. Also, their place is super clean. Hanh just ASHED out my blonde to a beautiful light brown tone and I’m in love with the color & trim she gave me! Everyone has to keep in mind that color fades of course and you have to maintain the color by coming in for touch up and using the RIGHT products at home. FYI. Ask your stylist what products you should be using for the type of service you get.

Came here for a haircut and everyone here is soooo friendly and welcoming! Hanh did my haircut and I cannot ask for anything more. Seems like she can read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted.
She’s very talkative (In a good way, kept me entertained), nice, friendly, funny and just flat out awesome. (Super cute btw). She showed me some of her work cause I was asking for my wife, she will definitely come to this chill ass spot. My new go-​to spot for a haircut.
This place looks spectacular! Seems like everything from the floor up is brand spanking new! Super modern looking place.
Street parking only! I found tons of parking next block over by the lake, seems like people are always coming and going from jogging.

Brian and Hanh are the brother and sister dynamic duo of hair and color. My teenage daughter and I don’t agree on much, but we both agree that this is a great salon. They are both hip and skilled. My daughter gets her hair bleached and had bright red and deep purple dyes that she has lived. I get nice conservative cuts for work. I brought my daughter here when she was little and had been traumatized by other hair professionals. Hanh is so good and easy with the kids. I see small children very calm with them. My kid is very loyal to them because they listen and know what they are doing.
L’amor definitely know how to make Asian hair look amazing. And now they have this beautiful new spot near Lake Merritt on Grand. They that just became very walkable from Adam’s Point and Uptown Oakland. And if you are waiting for another member of your family to finish, there are at least five amazing restaurants to cool your heels at. Great new location!

I came here a few weeks ago in desperate need of a cut and color due to a terrible cut I had that didn’t grow out well at all. I saw the amazing reviews about the stylists here and decided to book with Hanh since I saw she had experience in some alternative styles.
My whole experience there was wonderful. While Hanh did the majority of the work on my hair, the other stylists would help in their free time (my hair is very thick) and they were all incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. Hanh is very talented and easy to talk to about my needs. My hair still looks great several weeks after and I can’t wait to go back.

This is my 3^rd visit to L’amor and I can’t see myself going anywhere else! I’m pretty sure my thoughts have been echoed by other reviewers but I’ll highlight a few things:
*The staff is like family. They’ll tell you if something looks good (or not), welcome you with beverages and chat with you like they’ve known you forever.
*They are so talented! I’ve had my hair done by Kathy, Hanh and Brian and although they work collaboratively, they each have their own style and my hair always turns out great!
*With typical asian hair, I am pretty picky about how my hair should look and the team are experts on this. Trust them!
*The people at L’amor are so genuine and generous! I have never been to another salon that has provided this ambience.

Brian’s new place is nothing short of amazing. Getting to hear all about how he designed and picked everything out himself made my time in his chair even more enjoyable. He flew out of state just to sit in the chairs to test the comfortability. And then when you move to the wash station, the chairs turn in to beds (kinda). I may have fallen asleep for a little… You’ll understand what I mean when you lay in one.
As for my hair, this time I went a little shorter and a little lighter. I showed Brian a picture of a look and he was able to deliver just what I was looking for. Never thought I would go shorter than the last time Brian cut it, but short hair is so in right now! Hahaha

Tip: Park in the residential area so you don’t have to worry about feeding the meter. You can’t rush a great do!

L’Amor is my spot.
Was referred by a friend of mine and the rest is history. Been going for over a year now and have enjoyed every haircut. Bryan and Kathy have been too good to me, they both listen and cut my hair to perfection. What’s best is that they make you feel at home. I’ve referred countless friends and they have equally had great experiences.

I’ve been going here for months and have always had the same high quality haircut every time. Kathy and Brian have both cut my hair and both do a fantastic job. As a white male with boring hair, they do a great job at keeping me looking fresh every time.
The new location is awesome and I would (and do) recommend this place to all my friends.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow… with so many choices to make when selecting a place to trust with your most prized possession (your hair)/ This place is so good it had to move. I know many people feel the same way, just read the reviews of former location. A crowning achievement for grand Ave. I cant tell you what to do but what I can do is go in and allow time for you to express your wants and desires. I’m glad to know others also feel this salon is a 5 star experience. Go and reward yourself to a fantastic experience and cut. I’ve always liked this place since I started getting my haircut here. And at this new location, I feel like I’m getting the Star treatment. This crew has a calm and relaxed environment that displays great customer service. They care about how you want your hair done with appropriate recommendations during your consultation. Bryan and his crew are AMAZING!!! Go check them and their new digs out. You won’t be disappointed. SPREAD THE WORD!!!

I was a bit hesitant to get a haircut since I hadn’t cut it in over seven years. When they finished my haircut, I was extremely pleased at how good of a job they did that now I am going to keep my short hair for a long time!

Brian is amazing!
I started seeing Brian at his old location and I never went back to another stylist. He is experienced and very talented. I showed him pictures of what I like and he recreates the look. The new salon is gorgeous! Highly recommended if your hair needs some love!

I’ve been to Hanh 4 or 5 times now and I’m a big fan. She always gives me exactly what I want with very little direction. If she ever disagrees with an idea, she will let me know what the challenges are and then we decide the best course of action together. She’s super confident with her skills but will never overcommit herself to something that she doesn’t feel comfortable with and I really appreciate that about her, as so many stylists I’ve encountered will take every job just to make more money even if the hair-​type or request isn’t their specialty. I’ve been to her for cuts and color now and the results always exceed my expectations.
Although I’ve only had my hair cut by Hanh, I know that this is a consistently great salon with really good stylists. Their old location (if you search «L’amor» in Oakland it’ll pop up) had over 200 reviews, most of which were 5 stars. Highly recommend!
