People actually live on Telegraph. Imagine coming home after a long week(friday evening) and finding that your street is blocked off and you have to take the long way around only to discover that there is not a single parking spot to be found. After walking several blocks from where you parked you want nothing more than to curl up with a glass of wine and a snack and veg-out, but your house is full of noise from the street: screaming children and adults, a half dozen live bands with drums and amps, at the strong alcohol buttressed voices. Wake up for your morning walk to the smell of urine on your door step, which non-residents think of as a toilet, and trash covering the street. Welcome to the first Fridays experience for people who live here!

Oakland’s definitely got Seoul!!! Didn’t even know this tiny little strip down Telegraph was called Koreatown Northgate until I saw a banner in front of Koreana Plaza. Thought that was cool. There’s a couple of great Korean restaurants I go to in this area and of course the Korean grocery store where they’ve got a huge wall of soju to choose from. LOL.

I’m not Korean, but I’m stoked to live in Korea Town. There is so much rad food around here, I will never get around to reviewing all the delicious Korean restaurants, so instead I will review THEWHOLEFRIGGINTOWN of Korea Town. Which rules.

So it is official. We now have a Korea Town in the Bay Area and you can find it in Oakland. It spans from Telegraph and 21st to Telegraph and 35th. Banners should be coming up shortly. The slogan will be «Oakland’s got Seoul». Public board meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 3pm, at Samwon BBQ House, at 2600 Telegraph Avenue. If your a stakeholder in this area(whether you live or own property/business in the area, or are just interested in the area), definately come check it out.
