Joey Mota Landscaping and Maintenance

We used Joey’s company for both significant redesign of our garden (including adding a retaining wall, several stone paths, and stone walls) in Piedmont and monthly maintenance.
For design and build, Joey is an excellent landscape architect and his team is top notch. Unlike many landscape people, he goes to great lengths to make sure that the stuff you can’t even see is done very well — the drainage, grading, and other stuff that can ruin gardens. The designs are great, and his business model (of charging for labor rather than marking up cost of plants 300% like some people) makes him very cost-​competitive. Just ask him to show you some of his work.
His monthly maintenance team works incredibly hard and keeps the place looking immaculate, without costing a fortune. Joey even made the trip out on a Sunday morning at 8:00am to fix a broken irrigation valve (that prior owners of our house had installed). Way above and beyond.
Landcape work isn’t cheap, so if you’re crazy price sensitive you’re better off hiring day laborers down at Home Depot. But if you want to do proper landscape work, and sleep well knowing that the drainage and everything else you can’t see is just as well crafted as the stuff you can see, Joey’s a great option.

A lot of my neighbors use this company to take care of their (gorgeous) yards here in Rockridge. I got the telephone number from my next door neighbor who has a crew come weekly for maintenance and is happy with the service… Our yard entire yard needed a total overhaul, and I was also interested in ongoing maintenance. The woman who answers the phone was kurt and rude, only taking a message with my phone number and saying «he’ll call you back.» Two months went by. No call. I called again, saying again I was interested in re-​landscaping and/​or maintenance work, and that my neighbors are happy customers. Again, acidic lady only says, «he’ll call you back» and took my number, hangs up. NO call back! Called a third time, same exact routine. Ok I get it! he does not want to take on more clients. But instead of having the decency to call me, a potential client, back and explain, he just left me spinning in the breeze. It’s very unfortunate that this company’s excellent work is undermined by this extreme lack of professionalism.

For those folks looking for high-​quality landscaping and yard maintenance services, my husband and I would encourage anybody to interview Joey Mota landscaping. We give this a service an A+!!!
Perhaps this is why the lion’s share of the best kept yards /​gardens in our neighborhood seem to be maintained by Joey and his crew.
We inherited this service from the prior owner of our house 8 years ago and have been impressed on all levels — quality & reliability of the service and the friendliness of Joey and his crew. Net, net: we find his overall vision for landscaping is first rate.
