Description

Specialties

I teach theatre classes for children ages 3 – 17. Please go to my web-site for updated class information and look for a summer camp in the summer of 2013. The classes focus on not only learning the art of theatre but the qualities that out reach into social skills, community building, self confidence and empathy. Each student gets professional training as they are working with other students to have fun, perform with grace and create original pieces of theatre.

History

Established in 2012.

After working in children’s theatre, theatre education non-profits, schools and as a free lance director I went back to school and received my Master’s in Theatre Education from N.Y.U. in the spring of 2010. I then relocated to the Bay Area in the hopes of opening my own theatre academy along the way I have worked in the area as a teacher, a nanny, a teaching artist and a children’s theatre director. In November of this year I taught my first workshop in Rockridge– «Come tell a story with me» for preschool aged students. After 12 years of working as a teacher I am ready to give my own brand of theatre to the world. Being a theatre teaching is the best job I could ever ask for.

Meet the Business Owner

Jessica Z.

Business Owner

Jessica Zodrow grew up in Ashland, Oregon the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. From the tender age of six she began acting which grew into directing and playwriting as well. She completed her B. A in Theatre Arts at Southern Oregon University and then worked as a theatre and teaching artist in the Portland Metro area, across the country in New York City (and the surrounding Boroughs) and here in the Bay Area. Her love of community building, theatre teaching and acting lead her back the big apple where she studied Theatre Education at N.Y.U– and graduated with her Master’s in Theatre Education in the spring of 2010. What interests her most is the power in story telling, creating the space where something can happen and the skills in empathy and confidence that theatre making builds in people of all ages. She is also floored by both the amount of learning and fun that happens, even in short periods of time, while making theatre with a group of young people. Opening her business and
