jackson’s inventory is packed pretty tight here. it wouldn’t be a good idea to stretch or wave your arms else you break the sodas, chips, wines, etc. that are packed so close to the walkway. ther’s some microbrew sixpacks, no big bottles though. no pricing anywhere on any beers pour: chang(21.5oz, 5%ish, 2.99T) –pretty smooth thai beer, no bitterness. ok for most occassions except for getting druck. 3 stars on draught: –plenty of parking in front –clerks are nice, pricing is not.

Snuggled in amongst the phở houses and auto body shops of East 12th Street is a liquor store that really makes you appreciate living in the Bay Area. This neighborhood, known alternately as Eastlake, Clinton Park, New China Town, Little Saigon, and/or Lower San Antonio, is not known for it’s classy establishments. Although the drunks lingering outside the doors after dark are hardly an argument to the contrary, the fact that you can regularly find both Racer 5 and Arrogant Bastard in the beer cooler is a sure sign that the neighborhood is a-changin’. The guys behind the counter are friendly, and offer a selection of beef jerky and hardcore pornography to go with your choice of fermented beverage. Although I have yet to sample either of those categories of their wares, I can definitely recommend this place solely on the basis of their surprising array of microbrews available.
