Isabelle is amazing. I’ve spend way more on a facial that felt like I was throwing money in the trash. She, on the other hand, made me feel relaxed with a lovely environment and wonderful massage. She taught me so much with her endless knowledge. She extracted tirelessly, till they were all gone. She used the best products. In the end I felt like it was some of the best money I spent. Couldn’t stop looking at my skin in the mirror the next day!

Waxing is NOT fun. I am sure you are all aware. However, Isabelle makes it as comfortable as it can be. She is a solid professional with a keen eye and swift hand. She is so great at getting back to you with what she has open and will try to fit you in as best she can on an emergency basis. I have not had one of her facials, but a friend of mine has and says I am seriously missing out.
You would be silly to miss this spot, it is a little tough to fine the first time. Just face Starbucks, go to your right and then on your right hand side are some stairs. Go to the top. You will not be sorry!

I have been going to Isabelle for waxing and facials for more than 15 years, and in all that time, every encounter has been pleasant and comfortable, and I have been super-​satisfied with the results. Isabelle observes and educates, professionally and gently, as she works on your skin. Isabelle is well trained (in France), very skilled, and has great experience working with all types of skin and skin problems. Her salon is clean, classy (soft music and fresh flowers), and all the equipment and surfaces that I have seen in the salon are extremely clean and modern. She does sell skin care products but she never pushes them. I trust her completely, and I always leave her salon feeling uplifted from her cheerful company and her excellent service.

This review is long overdue. As in, over a year in a half overdue. Yikes!
Anyways, after moving to Oakland and my esthetician retiring, I was in need of a new one. I found Isabelle on Unilocal,of course. She mainly takes appointments for facials during the week, which is a bummer, but I completely understand. I was able to get an afternoon appointment with her. She was fantastic. She really took the time to care for my skin. She asked me a lot of questions, gave me a lot of information, telling me what each product will do for my skin.
Unfortunately, this was the last time I have done any facials, and that’s on my part. It’s been in the back of my mind to come back to Isabelle so I am hoping to do that in the very near future.

I have been a client of Isabelle Girard’s for about 20 years. Her salon is spotless. isabelle is efficient, cheerful, informative and a delight. Her skin products are excellent and reasonable in price.

I’ve been going to Isabelle for facials and waxing for a number of years. I completely trust her; she is professional, thorough, knowledgeable and kind. At age 66, I still get compliments on my complexion, thanks to Isabelle. A facial with Isabelle is like a mini-​vacation; I feel pampered, cared for, relaxed, oh so clean and I love the music she plays.

I don’t even know where to start. Isabelle is AMAZING. I’m super particular about my eyebrows and I’m a bit hesitant to let others work on me but Isabelle is so sweet, so patient and so good at what she does.
I let my eyebrows grow out for about 3 months (yes, I was a hairy mess) and came to her for some shaping and a general clean up. She waxes and tweezes and then looks at your eyebrows under a microscope to make sure she got all the hairs– even the tiny little ones. She trims your eyebrows if necessary and then fills in any gaps with some eyebrow powder. She is gentle and listens to you when you make a request. I will never go to another person ever again. I really do feel that I’m lucky to have found her and in such close proximity to where I live! I really would recommend her to everyone.

Searching for a little pampering and skincare I found Isabelle Gerard’s studio on a search… so happy I did. As soon as I got there I was so pleased with the environment, her professional friendliness and the studio itself. I began thinking right away who could buy a gift certificate for in my life, I was so excited I wanted my loved ones to experience it too! I am 5 mos. pregnant and she took every possible measure to make sure I was comfortable. She is incredibly knowledgeable and I felt right away that I could trust every world she said.
She was incredibly thorough, she even sent me home with a sample for my husband’s skin after we discussed him briefly.
I aslo have to mention that her studio is so pristine and immaculately arranged, She has the top of the line products, the kind that are good and not just packaged well.
If she hadn’t told me that my skin is in good shape and doesn’t really require facials (which is also such a respectable way to run your business, not up selling or over selling), I would go back as soon as possible!

Simply being in her presence makes me feel tres chic. Does an amazing job with waxing – almost uncomfortably detailed (still trying to get used to the giant lighted magnifying glass that is used to detect stray hairs) at hair removal. Efficient, calm, professional. Perfection!

I have been going to Isabelle for waxings and facials for the past 6 years. She is wonderful. If she doesn’t answer her phone immediately, she always gets back to you within a reasonable amount of time with several appt choices.
Isabelle is knowledgeable and great at what she does. I love going to her studio. Besides the fact that it is always spotless, her sense of design is outstanding. She always has beautiful flowers and lovely music playing, and her table is unbelievably comfortable. It is so relaxing to go see her.

I’ve been waxing my legs for 20 years now so I’ve experienced more waxers than I would ever wish upon anyone and Ms. Isabelle is by far the most meticulous, efficient and reliable one I’ve ever had. I’ve been going to her for a couple years now and only go to someone else when she can’t meet my last minute emergency requests. Her office in Montclair is very clean, pleasant, and she actually plays surprisingly good music. I suppose she makes the experience as pleasant as is possible and her price is very reasonable — maybe because she works for herself and doesn’t have other staff or a lot of overhead. A part of me doesn’t want to let the secret out as it may make those last minute appointment requests less likely, but she does good work so it’s only fair to spread the word.

I have searched high and low, Unilocal and not on Unilocal,location wise very far to close-​by, and am so grateful to have met Isabelle. She knows skin, she is very honest and direct, and her space is clean and professional. There is no awkwardness because she clears the air verbally and is very present throughout the session.

I’ve been going to Isabelle for my eyebrows for around 12 years and I won’t go anywhere else. I like the way she does them (yes, she does prefer thicker and more natural shape for brows, so if you don’t like that, perhaps talk to her first or go elsewhere). It’s always quick and she puts a nice soothing cream on after the waxing is done.

Isabelle is the best facialist (esthetician) I have ever visited! When I first was referred to her over 5 years ago, she was booked 2 – 3 months in advance! A true testament to her quality, demand, and loyal clientele. Now I book my next appointment at the end of my current one, so I always have a facial scheduled on the horizon.
She does a thorough and gentle job of caring for my skin. Her extractions are pretty intense, but they NEVER leave my skin marred or red. My skin is beautiful the next day. Isabelle is efficient, professional, witty, and kind. She does not push products on you, but has some great brands for sale if you NEED something. She is educated about skincare, and she debunks all of the hype about the latest trends. She is honest, and has integrity, and isn’t just out to make a buck. I really value and appreciate that! After a relaxing 75 minutes on the table, I have been steamed, exfoliated, extracted, massaged, masqued, and moisturized to a glowing loveliness. I only wish I could feel this radiant every day! Thank you Isabelle!!!

I relocated from SF 6 months ago, and fretted over finding a new esthetician to replace the person I had seen in the city for the last 4 years. 3 of my co-​workers recommended Isabelle, then I read the Unilocal reviews, and now… I am an absolute fan! I started with a facial, loved her knowledge about cosmetics (no nonsense, and she is not pushy about anything), then I had my eyebrows waxed, and then some other part of my body I would rather not mention (well, I am sure everyone knows what I mean :-) So by now I have had 3 facials and a lot of hairs removed at her hands, and I am quite happy with the results.
She is very busy, but she is always on time, neat, efficient, and a delight to talk to as well: attentive, smart and upbeat. More importantly: she is consistent and thorough (which my other esthetician was not), and she has proven great at choosing products that have been working beautifully for me.
Bonus point: music matters a lot to me, and others reviewers mentioned her musical choices too, so here is my take — I am blown away by Isabelle’s music selection during her treatments. It is all over the board eclectic: 16^th century viola music, counter-​tenor arias, 1950s bouncy lounge, current electronica, sweeping movie soundtracks– it is all woven smoothly in the background, and it undeniably adds to my great experience at her studio. I am, as I said, a total fan.

Eyebrow waxing review.
I went to Isabelle because she had such great reviews on Unilocal.I’ll keep it simple …
She got wax in my hair, which she CUT out before I even realized what she was doing!
She used eyebrow powder on my eyebrows after the wax, to fill-​in the holes … I looked like I had two caterpillars above my eyes when I left!
She did ‘clean up’ around my brows, but her preference was to let my eyebrows grow thick … hmmmmm, I get my eyebrows waxed so they don’t look like caterpillars!
And, she was pretty awkward … not warm and friendly like other Estheticians.
She is not all the hype of the other reviews …

Isabelle is so polite and professional and she has an excellent eye for shaping brows that flatter the face. I went to her and she told me my eyebrows were too thin. I have grown them out for a year now and let me tell you, she was absolutely right! I’ve gotten a lot of compliments and when I look at old pictures I can’t believe how thin they were. She is reasonably priced for her level of expertise, and her studio is cute and clean. Your eyebrows are safe with her :)

Isabelle is fantastic. She is, in the words of my sister, «genius with wax». I get compliments all the time on my eyebrows. Her facials are great. (And I won’t dread any part of them now that she’s told me I don’t need extractions).
She doesn’t push the expensive products that she carries; instead, she’ll tell you if she doesn’t think you need that for which you are asking. You can count on the timing that she tells you (both start and stop times). I can’t recommend her more highly.
Finally, I know people who have to traverse bridge or tunnel in order to get to Isabelle — if that doesn’t tell you how worth it her services are, I don’t know what will.
