Hornitos is on the same block as a clinic I intern in and it’s pretty much my default location when I need to buy lunch. Their portions are large and relatively cheap. The food is good but not amazing.
I would suggest the vegetable quesadilla and try to share with someone because half of it makes me overly stuffed, glutton status.

Hornitos café is a cute little place near Fruitvale to grab some calories. Although they try to be all things to all people, serving American, Italian, and other fare, I’m just rating them based on what we had that day, which was enchiladas, rice, beans, and plantain. The food is a solid value, and tasty. It’s not designer mexican food, but good, basic fare that will fill you up and keep you going. The place is clean, and staff are friendly and helpful, too.
