My only complaint is trying to find a parking space but this is expected during the holiday season they move the lines fast and great customer service.

I’m not a fan of ham, but their ham sandwich is really good! During holidays sandwiches only available in the afternoon. Turkey sandwich is also very good. Customer service isn’t bad either. Price is reasonable for Piedmont Ave.

Not quite sure why this location has such a terrible rating — I came here to pick up a ham this holiday season and had no problems whatsoever! Called in a reservation for a ham a few days prior, and showed up the Monday before Thanksgiving. I anticipated having to wait in line, but when I got there, there were maybe three other people in the shop and five attendees behind the counter. My only issue was that they tried to up-sell me repeatedly: initially when I called, they tried to get me to buy a larger ham, and when I got there they said they _only_had the larger size in stock(8lb instead of 7lb). When I said I was only looking for a 7lb’er though, the woman behind the counter just sold me the 8lb one at the same price as the 7lb one. Hell yeah!

Came in today to pick up a ham. Got here around 220pm. The line were long but what you expect? It was a few days before Thanksgiving. It was about 5 lines, 5 cashiers. The young lady that was helping me was polite. My first time trying here so i’ll update my review on the taste. FYI I got the 5 pound ham for $ 41, I guess that’s not so bad.

The ham is bomb. It’s almost addictive. I have to be careful not to go more than once every three years or so. The hams are huge and will taste better than anything you could make at home. They are pricey, but again I think it speaks to the flavor. Go or don’t. Their lines will still be down the block.

Just had a very bad experience with this outfit. I was OK with waiting in the long line on the Monday before Thanksgiving. When I finally(30 minutes later) got to the front of the line, I asked them for a whole turkey. While I waited for another 10 minutes, they brought a precooked bird out of the deep freeze. Their cooking instructions said to cook it for 1.5 hours. I also bought stuffing. We loaded the bird into the ice chest and drove down to Santa Barbara the following day(Tuesday) to spend Thanksgiving with a relative. On Thanksgiving morning, the bird was still frozen solid. We became vegetarians for the day. We did eat the stuffing, and it gave everyone stomach distress the next morning. Maybe this store is OK with ham, but in my experience you must carefully check what they are selling you, the side dishes taste«off,» and the store personnel are minimum wage workers with a surly attitude. I will not be patronizing them anymore, despite the long lines and sweet ham aroma that the store ventilates out into Piedmont Avenue.

I’ve passed this place so many times but never thought to check it out until recently. I always thought it was just a catering place, but they also have take out meals ala Boston Market. Of course, their ham is their signature food, but they have other options as well including different sides. My one gripe — and this might really turn some people off — is that their service was terrible. In fact, most of the time I was in the place, there was no one behind the counter. They were in the back until I did the awkward«acknowledge me cough.» Then they came out, made my order, then disappeared again. I’m sure it deters people who pass by. Still, just based on the food, I give it 3.5 to 4 stars.

I have not had a Honeybaked Ham for a decade, but saw a coupon and thought it looked good. Called the 800#, told them I wanted to buy a ham with the coupon & was given a specific order number to pick up the ham with. Of course at the store they started telling me how the ham THEYRESERVEDFORME did not qualify for the coupon and even though I was specifically told«A» on the phone, the policy is «B» and too bad for me, etc. Seems counterproductive to spend money advertising with coupons and then to lose business over not honoring them. Oh well-I’ve gone without HBH for the last ten years and can easily continue doing so.

I’m shocked by all the poor Unilocal reviews :(I’ve never had a bad experience at this location. I ALWAYS order a Honey Baked Ham for Thanksgiving and/or X-mas. I place the order over the phone a few days in advance and there’s never an issue. I also make sure to pick up the ham at least 3 days before the holiday. I’ve experienced the«Holiday Rush» and it’s no fun! The line usually wraps around the building and parking is a mess. Also, check the website for coupons! I generally get at least $ 7 off of the total purchase. Oh, I forgot to mention… the ham is DELICIOUS and super easy to prepare!

Time: 1:47pm Purpose: TV commercial show that glaze ham like it was so succulent to the touch. So I was in area thinking to myself why not? Set-up: A shop that specializes in baked ham nestle in on piedmont ave of oakland. Can’t been seen from the street as the place shares it’s location with couple of other businesses a video rental shop, dry cleaner, fed ex&ups. Staff: Kind of rude no greetings when you enter they have two girls holding clipboards asking are you here for an appointment? I said what appointment? That’s when they lost interest in helping you I ask about the famous ham being advertise this time of year. She said we have all kinds of ham I look at her and she can be a ham too then. Very bitchy tude here she didn’t seem to care only what’s coming in on her iPhone. Cleanliness: It’s up to date company standards. Eats/Drinks: I just got a plate of sampler offering of what people orders for the holidays. Consist of cheesy potatoes, cranberries, cream spinach Alfredo, and cheesecake. Products: Mustard, chutney, bone soup mix, turkey breast, assorted side items, family feast, cheese platters, combo platters, gift baskets. Punch Line: Lot parking, tasting chutneys, samples being offer, premade ready to-go meals. Final Thoughts: I can’t remember how long it has been that I have a piece of honey baked ham but I sure didn’t miss anything. Nothing was luring me to try anything else in the end I can baked a ham myself instead. Don’t need services like this. What’s funny is that there was a now hiring flyer plaster on front door now I know how these people were hire.

What’s with all the complaints? Makes me wonder if this store is one of those unfortunate businesses whose good Unilocal reviews get buried underneath the bad. Honey baked ham is delicious. Order ahead of time, especially during holiday season. Do your order by phone, again ahead of time. Pick up your ham when the store suggests you pick it up, even if it’s not the day and time you had in your ideal world where you’re the only person ordering ham. If the parking lot is full, park farther away and walk. The ham is good. People come from miles away for it. The staff is doing what they can to accommodate. If you’re not willing to buy a ham under these circumstances, then buy their ham on a Tuesday afternoon in June when there’s no rush. The ham is that good.

Too bad I didn’t read these reviews before placing a call to this store location. I trusted the Honey Baked Ham name and brand too much I guess. I called the Oakland Piedmont store for the very first time today. I thought all store’s customer service would be the same but was I wrong. I have always phone ordered my ham for the holidays to the Pleasanton, SF, or Concord stores prior to my call to this Oakland Piedmont store. Well, I decided to call this store location to order a 9 Lbs half ham for Thanksgiving and this rude guy answering the phones has the poorest customer service skills I have ever encountered. And first impressions are huge for a business and they just lost all my future business. The only reason I called this store was because all stores close on Thanksgiving eve at 6:30 pm and I would be driving by the area and I could pick up my ham on the way home from work and make it on time. I would never make my usual Pleasanton store location on time otherwise. First, I understand it is a busy time of year but it’s inexcusable to have a person as customer service answering phones in a rude manner. This guy answered my initial call(11/25/20132:00 pm) and said«HOLDON» and just put me on hold. I immediately thought that was rude. Then after 10 minutes later he came back on the phone and said«YEAH». I was like OK, I don’t even know if I am calling the right place or number as he didn’t identify I was calling the Honey Baked Ham store. That’s not how I would answer a customer service call. I asked him if I was calling the Honey Baked Ham store and he said«UMCHEAH». I asked him if they were still taking orders for pick up on Thanksgiving eve. He just quickly said«YEAH». I started to tell him my order and said, I want to order a half ham… and that’s when in the middle of my order he YAWNED really loud in my ear interrupting my order. I had to repeat it and he yawned a second time and did a lip smacking sound in my ear and said YEAH again. I had to repeat my order a third time and he said OK. I had to ask him my reservation number because he was about to hang up without giving it to me. I definitely expect a lot more courtesy from a reputable place like Honey Baked Ham and who ever hired this person to be on the phone taking orders in this manner should be fired along with this rude and GHETTO customer service representative.

I would stay away from the horrible and over priced Honeybaked Ham Company’s Store(Piedmond Ave.‘s location), and get your tasty and superb products from somewhere else. Firstly, the internet said the store opens at 10, but the store actually opened at 10:30 a.m. Secondly, they messed up my orders which was placed a day prior. Thirdly, my ordered was not ready and I had to wait at least 30 minutes for them to packet it. Fourthly, the two turkey breasts, at $ 24.99 each, total $ 49.98 tasted awful, like rubber and artificial, and overly sweet. I called to complain and they told me to bring the food back for an exchange or refund, with the original receipt. which I have. When I returned to the store, Christine(the store manager) told me that once the food leave the store, they don’t accept return or exchange. I explained what happened and told her that I was told to bring the product back over the phone by the staffs. She went to the back to confirm who answered the phone and told me to bring the products back for refund or exchange, and then came back out about ten minutes later, stating that they were seasonal staffs and did not know what they were talking about. She reiterated that once the food left the store, there was nothing they can do, even when the product was no good! I guess you have to try it out first because leaving the store. I asked her for a written policy stating what she just told me, and she said it is a standard food industrial practice. Wow, I did not know that. She tried to placate me by stating that she even tried to get her manager, Greg to make an exception, but sorry, it is their company policy. She told me that if I am unsatisfied with her and her manager’s response, I can write to their corporate office at 29 Music ICK, Irvine, CA92618. So dear readers, if you like to spend money to be treated horribly, and have bad tasting food(I hope you will not get sick along the way during the holiday for eating their food), then please help yourself. If honeybaked has been your family tradition, I would reconsider. I, for one, would definitely start a new tradition by getting my Thanksgiving turkey and new year ham at Costco, Trader Joe and any other stores, except Honeybaked. The other stores sale wonderful similar products, treat you nicely, and will take their products back, especially within hours of purchases, and happily refund you or allow you to exchange for another products, especially when they sold you something bad in the first place.

Do NOT trust this Honeybaked ham location. I went here after having a very tasty honeybaked ham for a holiday party. I needed a ham for New Year’s eve dinner. I ordered several days in advanced and asked what time they closed the shop on New year’s eve. They said 6pm. I ordered the ham and got a confirmation number. I get there at 5:20pm and it was closed. Great. I am 40 minutes away from a dinner where people are expecting ham and Honeybaked lied to me about closing time. I will NEVER trust this location again. I should have listened to be bad reviews. I will be contacting their corporate office if I can.

This is a place that you need to call in your order months in advance. I waited in line for over an hour to buy a ham, and when I got to the cashier, he told me they were all out. I was so mad that none of the staff had the common courtesy to come outside and let us know that they ran out of ham. By the way, when you call in your order, make sure to get a «confirmation number» otherwise you will have problems getting your food.

They do a good job marketing their unique swinish product(s). The end-result of their labor is a terrific brined and glazed ham that eats so good, that you’ll have thin slices of ham for days. Of course as the main event with sides, the ham excels. But in the ensuing days ahead, you can feature HBHams and make sandwiches, omelettes, ramen noodles, salads, chow mein/fun, spicy rice cakes, etc. The shop I bought this was clean and efficient when it came to my ham purchase.

Updated 4-9-2012: As promised, here’s an update about my ham. It was delicious, and I think it tasted even better because the disapproving vegetarians were not present. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future holiday meals. I am looking forward to the leftovers! ______________________________________ Since I’m doing Easter this year, and since the disapproving vegetarians are NOT coming, I felt foot loose and fancy free as I strolled into HBC last Saturday. We were the only ones in the store so received prompt and friendly attention from the ham wrangler. We checked out a few different sizes of ham and ended up with one that would feed 8 – 10. We are having a small group this year, so this means plenty of left overs for me and my hon of hons husband. If the ham is as as good as I remember it, I’ll bump it up another star after we consume it. I am so looking forward to eating my ham guilt-free, minus the disapproving vegetarians.

Just finished porkifying myself in the past 30+) hours, marveling in the dizzying blend of honeyed sweet glaze with succulent, moist, picture-perfect colored ham roast with wonderfully caramelized, crisp fringe. Marvelous…loved even more my take-away doggy bags of more leftover ham… ham omelette, ham hash, ham and corn dishes all planned straight ahead!!!
