I wish I could give this dealer a better review. I was interested in a specific used Honda, and started working with Nicole based off of reviews here. A few days ago, I got ready to buy, called ahead and came into the dealership. They were really busy, and I was initially working with someone else. Did the test drive, sat down to talk numbers. Gave them my offer, which was realistic, considering the car had sat on their lot for at least a month. I based my offer on a price for the same car in Serramonte, which was a year newer and had 5K less miles. I liked the Oakland car color better.
Nicole refused to budge, saying that the Oakland car was certified. I came up $ 500 in my offer– which was just above the Serramonte price. Nicole said no way. I walked, and drove straight to Serramonte, where they lowered their price by a few hundred. I bought a car that was a year newer with 5000 less miles for $ 1500 less than Honda of Oakland was willing to deal.
I get that certification costs the dealer money, but I was surprised that they didn’t come down to a price that was based on another car. I’m 99.9 percent sure they would have made money on my offer, especially since the car had sat since last year on their lot.
What rubbed me the wrong way about the entire process was that Nicole called me a day later, asking if I’d bought the Serramonte car. I said I had, that the dealer’s price had started out better than the Oakland price, and they had dropped it even more. Nicole said «You bought it? I’m surprised, because they haven’t taken it off their website.» Uh, OK. You barely budge on pricing, then you check another dealer’s inventory before calling a potential sale that got away? Why would I lie that I bought another car?

I recently purchased my 2013 Honda CRV from Honda of Oakland. My experience was great and I owe it all to my salesperson Paul Juster he is truly God sent. I was very nervous about going to the car dealership (just because I’ve had some really bad experiences is the past), but not with Paul he made me and my friend who came along with me feel so comfortable. He even showed us a few card tricks while they were working on all of the financing stuff, just to keep us entertained. He was also EXTREMELY knowledgeable about cars, and helped me pick the best vehicle for ME. I really appreciate people like him. I HIGHLY recommend him. Thanks Paul!

Nicole Leshane-​vieira is the best. This was my first time buying a new car and Nicole was the first person I spoke with. She was honest and really made the whole experience feel secure and transparent. I went to a few other dealerships after Honda of Oakland and none gave me the impression that my best interests were at all a priority. A week later I went back to Honda of Oakland and made my purchase.
I also went back a few weeks later when I was having some issues with my radio. I came in without an appointment and the service people saw me immediately. Turns out it was just user error with the radio, but the technician was pleasant and helpful and there was no charge.
I feel like I am now a part of the Honda of Oakland family and look forward to be returning for all my oil changes and tune ups for years to come.

Positive experience/​car dealer = oxymoron? That’s what I thought until I bought a car from Sheldon Greenberg at Honda of Oakland. I did my homework, knew what I wanted (well, the color took a little time to decide) but more importantly I knew what I didn’t want (no leasing, no trade in, no financing, no extended warranty, no add ons…) and communicated this to Sheldon, the Internet Sales Manager who replied to my email inquiry. He respected this and gave me a fair price, no hassle, no bs. I’m still trying to process this — I am writing a positive review for a car dealer? Really? Wow. If you are buying a Honda: do your homework, know what you want and ask for Sheldon.

I had a great pleasure working with Nicole Leshane-​Vieira. She has been very patient and very helpful with our purchase process. The finance manager was great and very respectful of our time, he explained everything step by step and made sure everything was understood properly. I come from a sales and finacing background myself and even though Nicole knew that she still treated me with great respect and helped make everything comfortable and easy. Excellent customer service from Paul Juster. He is the best. I had previously gone to two other dealerships and the sales reps were awful.
Paul was very pleasant not at all pushy (which usually turns me off)
He had a different angle which he asked me what don’t I need on a car
and then worked on what was best for me.
He had a lot of patience with me since I couldn’t make up my mind what color after picking out my package for the choosing of my CRV EX-​L.
He really is very good and I rate him a 10 all the way!!!

Would have given ZERO star if that option was there. I put in an internet request. This guy named Isaac Helsabo calls me in the morning.
I asked him what is the lease going on for Honda Pilot, that information will help me decide if i want to drive to Oakland from San Ramon. He goes i dont have to waste my time with you on phone for a Honda Pilot and disconnects !!!
What a douche… basic you owe your customer is courtesy… with this attitude he not only make sure i wont go ever to these thugs but wont recommend them to anyone

Buying a car isn’t my favorite experience as a woman in her early sixties doing this alone… Customer service really matters for a major purchase such as this one — we put our lives on the line each time we drive off in our vehicles!
For this reason, I want to express my appreciation for the excellent customer service I received from manager Jason who clearly is going the extra mile to up the dealership’s game on many levels. Also a thank you to Nicole who took me for a test drive and answered all my questions.
What actually started out as a negative experience was transformed by Jason’s patient and highly professional handling of my particular circumstances. From start to finish, my concerns were addressed and the dealership followed through to offer me the best possible deal including the trade in of my 2008 Honda model.
I am now the satisfied owner of a new Honda Civic 2016 which by the way is a completely redesigned and so far high performing car. No, Honda is not paying me to write this!
Thank you Honda of Oakland for demonstrating that old fashioned customer car exists, even for folks like me…

Long story short: Locked my keys in my trunk, but also locked the trunk latch, my spare key only works the ignition (it’s a valet key). I brought it here and a pretty coo guy named Tom opened it for me. It was joog, because he did this thing to open the trunk so I could get my keys.
Since I was there I thought I’d ask about the weird sound my car was making, and he took me on a test drive and told me what was wrong.
So yeah this place is pretty coo I would say. I later brought it back and paid $ 149 to have them inspect it to see what was exactly wrong. So that was okay, kind of expense yah feel me? That’s like, if you get paid $ 10/​hr you have to work 15 hours (more than 2 shifts!) and that’s before taxes. Deem. But I’m glad I know whats wrong with me car. Yeeee.
I give it my official 10 out of 10 dank stars. 2 dank stars = 1 Unilocal star. So that translates to 5 whole Unilocal stars! Although to be honesttt I think it was more of a 8.5 /​10, but that doesn’t translate well to Unilocal stars. (Note to Unilocal staff: Why don’t you guys let us rate a place 4.5 stars?)

I have previously had GREAT experiences with Honda of Oakland service with Johnny N, which is why I keep coming back.
Yesterday was not the case. I had a different service rep (Mike) who treated me in condescending way. I feel I was way overcharged for minor service (especially when I supposedly got «free tire rotation») and when I tried to take a minute to look at the bill he kept saying «he had taken care of everything» and rushed me out the door. He did say, however, that if I gave him 100% on the customer satisfaction survey that Honda corporate sends out, that I would get a free oil change next time. This, of course, would only be if I request him as my service rep. This will not be happening, not by a long shot.
A few other customer service issues of note:
— I usually am offered a free car wash. Not this time. Not even a hint of one. Also, the plastic was still on the seat as was the paper floor mat when I got my car back.
— I chose to stay in the waiting room while my car was being serviced. Usually when this happens, previous service reps have come in person to give me updates on my car. Not this time. Mike called me each time, which did not line up with the previous customer service I have received at this location.
I left yesterday extremely unhappy and will make sure that if I go back, I will request someone that I have had previously (read: not Mike).

Excellent customer service in the service department. I’ve been here twice: to replace a master key that I lost a couple years ago and recently, auto maintenance plus recall for the ignition. Something was rattling from my engine… near the right side and don’t know what it was. It wasn’t loud but the noise was concerning.
Mike assisted us. He was very helpful & knowledgeable. He did not upsell us even after giving us a $ 2K estimated quote. We told Mike due to the cost, we chose to do part of the service and not fixed everything at the same time.
The main thing was to replace the water pump and belt tensioner. That was the reason my engine was rattling. We chose to get the tires (got it somewhere else already at a better price) & alignment later. It brought the cost down to $ 800 instead. We had a 10% off service coupon. That helped. Whew!
The shuttle service was great. They even washed my poor dirty car. My car drives & look like it’s brand new again. I feel that even though it’s expensive, they knew what’s wrong with my car and will be fixed. I hope my 2003 Honda accord will last a few more years.

I am extremely impressed with the customer service at Honda of Oakland. I just picked my truck up from getting new breaks put on and I couldn’t be happier. Liz, who helped us at the service center is THE BEST!
She was so easy to work with and went out of her way to make the whole process super smooth. She set up my rental car and even covered it for one of the days! She followed up with me on time with answers to a few things that needed to be checked besides the brakes. She kept an eye out to help me stay within my budget. Lastly, when I picked the truck up she had had it washed & vacuumed. It was such a needed, unexpected bonus. She is a star and I highly recommend asking for her when/​if you need service.
I’ve been in the hospitality business for a long time and I have to give Liz an A+++. THANK YOU!

I have always had a positive experience at Honda of Oakland. Their Service personnel are very polite, respectful, and knowledgeable. It’s a little expensive, but that is a small price to pay for the peace of mind and confidence that repairs are done expertly and thoroughly the first time, with the proper parts.
This morning I went to the Parts department to buy new wiper blade inserts for the coming winter, thinking I could just pop them on myself right there on the street. WRONG. I’m not a complete idiot, but for some reason I just couldn’t figure it out, plus my fingers were getting filthy. Anyway, Dale saw me struggling with the inserts he had just sold me, and came out to help. It only took him a couple of minutes to swap them out. My self-​respect shredded, I thanked him profusely. It’s not every sales person that would do that. He could have just stayed inside and chuckled softly to himself over my cluelessness, but instead he had compassion and chose to come out and help me at his own expense. He should be commended.

Honda of Oakland saved the day!
After a terrible experience at Honda Serramonte (see review) my husband and I came to Honda of Oakland to purchase a 2015 Civic coupe EX.
We were helped by Joseph Semillo and Con Byrnes for our purchase. We explained to both of them what happened less than an hour ago at Serramonte Honda and they wanted to help us and ‘save the day’, and they truly did! There was no gimics or going back and forth regarding the price. We were helped right away and the entire process was a breeze.
We purchased our Honda Civic and love our new ride. Please go see this awesome dealership and ask for Joseph Semillo!

I was worried about having a dealership work on my son’s older Honda Accord, but we needed to have a new ignition key made (don’t ever lose your ignition key, folks, it’s a major pain). Apparently the only way to get a new key was to bring the car in, and the car wasn’t doing us any good without the key… so we risked it. I shouldn’t have been so worried, Mikey in the service department really took care of us. We got the fancy new key (which they had to get from Walnut Creek), a new battery (we knew it needed one), and a car wash as well (the car had been sitting in the garage so long there were cat paw tracks in the dust on the roof).
If I need a Honda dealership for service in the future I wouldn’t hesitate to bring it here.
