Happy Hound Play & Daycare

When our GSP got kicked out of another local doggie daycare for chasing a butterfly, we found Happy Hound… and boy, are we happy we did!
Our dog, Scout, loves Happy Hound so much he starts to pace on the weekends to let us know it’s time to go play with his peeps. And it’s no wonder he loves it so much – with so much space to run around and other dogs to play with, he’s always busy running, chasing balls and exploring.
I have to say that us humans are treated really well at Happy Hound, too. We’re always greeted with a smile and never made to wait unnecessarily. And it’s really nice to see that there’s very little staff turnover and everyone is well educated on handling the animals.
Happy Hound is simply the best for doggie daycare and boarding.

Happy Hound basically saved my (dog’s) life.
A few years ago I moved to Oakland and my previously somewhat anxious dog, Wally, did not take the change well and developed very severe separation anxiety. When left alone, Wally’s behavior escalated from barking non-​stop (per a VERY upset neighbor), to clawing at the door, to destroying an entire room and injuring himself pretty significantly. After the last incident, I knew that something drastic had to be done.
I contacted a trainer who teaches and supports owners as they take dogs through a separation anxiety protocol. One of the conditions of training is that the dog must never be left alone unless it is part of the protocol. Well, a girl has got to go to work, so I started boarding Wally at the vet on a regular basis. She recommended that I look into doggie daycare (Wally was my first dog and I had never heard of such a thing!) and I found the Hound.
Thank goodness!
Here is what I love:
Flexibility– I can drop Wally off basically any time of day. I have a work schedule with funky, changing hours and being able to take Wally any time is really amazing. Because Wally was unable to stay alone at all, I took advantage of the Golden Leash Club so that I could drop him off whenever I needed to in order to running errands, etc. The drop in care aspect is great.
Staff– Overall, the employees are very professional. They are friendly, but not over the top. This is really important to me because dogs respond to big energy with big energy, so appreciate that the employees are very level. The play yards are well-​staffed. Suzanne hires a really diverse crew, which I notice and appreciate. My emails are always responded to in a prompt and professional manner.
Services– Training, walking, outings, grooming, vet visits, transportation, camera surveillance– the Hound offers so much!
Transparency– I can see the play-​yards when I am there. I can watch the cameras. I KNOW that Wally is being taken care of.
Wally LOVES it! He always comes home so happy.
Necessary:
Cost– It’s that Bay Area. It’s expensive to live here.
So. I recently moved out of Oakland and now I’m the one having separation anxiety. I have tried some daycares closer to me and I am really disappointed and underwhelmed. Thankfully, I still work in Oakland, so Wally gets to go to the Hound sometimes. I will absolutely continue to take him there for boarding because I trust the Hound and he is happy there.

I’ve taken my puppy, Junior, twice so far for the drop-​in daycare service and I can tell he loves it! As soon as I turn on the block Happy Hound is located, he starts pawing at the car windows. Staff is friendly and they seem to really care about Junior. Check-​in process is a breeze. Suzanne is especially warm and friendly; she even gave Junior a complimentary nail trim! This place has been a win-​win situation for me and Junior — I get some «me-​time» with a tired puppy at the end of the day.

You know what they say about management setting the tone and atmosphere of the whole establishment? Well, that says it all for Happy Hound. First, that it is, a super happy place for your hounds. Mostly, the owner really CARES!!! It shows because the workers are happy, the dogs are happy and well taken care of. Nobody is ever grumpy. Even though it’s the 100^th time they’ve seen your dog, they welcome him/​her with open arms. There are so many BEST things about this place, but I think the BEST BEST is that you don’t have to make a reservation for day care. You can just show up whenever you need dog care. And if you are stuck somewhere and you can’t make it back, just call them and pay a minimal late fee and they give you till midnight to pick up your dog. Like I said, the owner of Happy Hound really understands what dog owners need. The set up is flexible and makes sense. My dog Magic LOVES going to Happy Hound. She gets to play with other dogs all day and she’s so happy and relaxed when she comes home. I also think it’s great that you must go through an interview process before attending Happy Hound. Because dogs are put in play groups, I feel much safer that there are no aggressive or reactive dogs there. I can’t say enough praise for this business and the way it’s run. Thanks Suzanne!!! I called them up with a last minute emergency boarding, the owner Suzanne was wonderful to talk to. They accommodated my large neutered and in charge Doberman named Cusco. The staff was great, I got updated emails and pictures daily and I could tell he was happy. When he got home he was relaxed and not stressed at all. Suzanne was amazing and very sensitive to my situation. I plan on using them in the future for day care and adventure walks!

We love to take Lucy to the doggy daycare, she love it very much to, the stuff members are really nice they always greed us we a smile and with our names and our dog name to. What I love the most is the early drop off I have to be at work at 6: am is really convenient.

Happy Hound is Fantastic, the staff are wonderful and dedicated animal enthusiasts.
My dog stayed with them for 2 weeks over the holidays, and 2 weeks of training to help her be a better dog — both experience were really good and I am thrilled to have a good place for her to board when I am out of town.

We’ve been here only twice (for the assessment and a day in «Big Hound Town» but it’s just what our 5 month old lab puppy needs — the opportunity to run around with a bunch of other dogs! He was in heaven.
Some days we just can’t give him what he needs with work and family stuff, so it’s great to know he’s somewhere safe having fun and making friends.
I like the open-​ended drop-​off time and the ease of scanning him in at drop-​off time.
A great option for busy or rainy days. We will definitely visit at least once a month.

Happy hound is even more fantastic for our small pooch than we imagined!
We love the staff. The women at the front desk we see every time we drop Pumpkin off are always so friendly! They recognize Pumpkin without a tag and know us owners when we walk in! Great customer service.
They also pay close attention to your animal’s health too! We had to board our little one for a few nights. She had some tummy problems while we were gone and they immediately called to let us know, kept Pumpkin in special care (keeping her away from other dogs but still playing with her and walking her) and saved fecal samples for us to take to the vet! If we hadn’t received that phone call, we wouldn’t have been able to get her and on medication as soon as we did. She’s feeling back to her normal spunky self and will be returning to group play when she gets clearance from the vet.
Happy Hound is great for our small dog! We trust them to take good care of her while we are at work or just running errands. Pumpkin loves playing with her little friends too!

I have 2 medium-​sized dogs who I’ve taken to Happy Hound dozens of times for both daycare and boarding over the last 3 years. I’ve had mixed experiences. My biggest hesitation is the cost: they’re so expensive!
Pros: great facilities, great trainers/​attendants, location is convenient, always lots of dogs to play with.
Cons: i’ve had numerous billing issues with them (being over-​billed & incorrectly billed), they don’t give a discount for my 2^nd dogs, they’re quite expensive, they want you to book in advance (even though they never turn a dog away without a reservation and there IS a cancellation fee).
Your dog will return home smelling of pee… but I’ve had that experience with 3 other facilities. Also, my dogs seem tired and stressed when they leave (though this could just be that my dogs don’t like boarding).

We fell for a sweet, year-​old border collie mix at the Milo Foundation in late September and just had to adopt him. The timing wasn’t great because we had a vacation planned for shortly after we brought him home. So we decided to put our time away from Remy to good use and have him attend a board-​and-​train program at Happy Hound. It was a great decision!
After his interview and assessment, Remy went to daycare at Happy Hound for the week leading up to the trip so he’d get used to the place. He was always excited and happy when getting out of the car, so we know he was liking the days he was spending in «Big Hound Town.»
Once we left for our trip, he started the training program. We appreciated the regular emails and video updates to see his progress through the program — and to help us get through missing him.
When we came home, we had a thorough «graduation» orientation. Trainer Mike spent nearly three hours with us, going through the training philosophy and how we can maintain and practice what Remy had learned at home. He was great at including our 10-​yr-​old daughter in the conversation. After a bit, we went outside and each got to practice working with Remy with Mike’s guidance.
Since coming home, we’ve followed what we all learned, and our good dog Remy has blossomed into a great dog — easy to walk and control, but with all the playfulness and sweetness we first fell for. We have brought Remy back for one of the free Sunday leash classes Happy Hounds offers its graduates — a nice extra. We feel like the trainers are there for us for any follow-​up questions we may have.
We would definitely recommend the program!

Last fall we went looking for a thirty pound, mixed breed puppy who had a good snow coat for mountain trips. We came home with a Siberian Husky, 18 mos old, not trained and very strong. We wanted a dog and he needed a home! He is a sweet dog and was progressing very quickly on paying attention and learning things in the house. Walking him though was always a challenge and sometimes ridiculously hard. Our goal was to get him off leash and with a good recall so he could hike in the mountains with us. We needed help and sent him for the two week training at Happy Hound. This program is amazing and effective. They have several trainers and Clyde (the husky) went on 4 – 6 training walks a day, a level of work we could not give him at home, even if we had the expertise. We picked him up after the two weeks and were given a thorough orientation to the work (they also sent daily videos) and went home with a dog who is fun to take on a walk, who can go off leash safely, who has very good recall. The trainers are wonderful. Someone from the group (and they all worked with Clyde) responds very quickly to questions. They are happy that we have had a good outcome and glad we are keeping up the training.
Happy Hound trainers work with all kinds of problems. Ours was just one, keeping his attention outside and getting a good recall. Don’t suffer with a problem your sweet dog is giving you. Training is possible (many people told us Huskys couldn’t be trained) and has greatly increased my level of happiness in having a dog.

I have taken my corgi/​terrier mix Tripp to Happy Hound on and off for around a year, I’ve boarded him and had him there for daycare. The employees seem very nice and excited to help, it does seem that there’s new people often but many of them seem more college kids so that makes sense. I’m happy to be able to watch Tripp during the day and see him just follow the attendant around. He is always in little hound town which makes me very happy as well, he gets more jumpy around bigger dogs especially bigger bully breeds, I’d be afraid for him to to be in the other pens (I don’t understand really why he dislikes certain breeds, but oh well).
The assessment process was nerve wracking for me, like «oh gosh I hope he’s on his best behavior». The owner was very nice with him and understood to let him come out from under the chair I was sitting on rather than sometimes when people put their hands to the dog or pull them out which causes dogs to react. He was at first a little hesitant with his tail down but after a few walks around the facility his tail went up and he was sniffing around. He is the type of dog that just wants to walk around and not play with other dogs, and luckily the other dogs leave him alone well enough.
Once I boarded him over Halloween so that I wouldn’t worry about him, and I received a phone call from them that my dog was peeing blood. Of course this worried me but I wasn’t near and they assured me he would be monitored through the night, and it was only when he was marking. I picked him up bright and early in the morning and they gave me more details, seemed that it was only a few drips at the end of him peeing that appeared bloody and they thought maybe he had a bladder infection. I’m so happy they noticed it because I don’t monitor his pee much and he goes in the yard, they could see it since they have concrete floors. I took him to the vet and he had two bladder stones! Luckily after a few months with special food and antibiotics the dissolved. I don’t know how long it would have been for me to notice and it could have been worse.
Since then he visits once a month or every other month, he comes home tired and he stays mellow for the next day. He has come home with a couple fleas, but in this area that happens, they don’t stay around for long because of his medicine, and frankly he comes home with more fleas after the dog park on Claremont.
I wish I could take him there more but the price is prohibited. I’m happy they updated their payment system, but sad they’ve increased their daycare price recently. All and all I’m pretty pleased.

I think this review would be upped to 3 or 4 stars, if it wasn’t for the inconsistent level of customer service we receive related to invoicing. It’s happened two times in a row now. I’m curious to hear if that has happened to other customers here.
I received an email two weeks ago, stating that Happy Hound had not charged our account for a previous day that our puppy was with them for daycare services, and that they were going to charge the card (but okay, only with our permission). I knew that we had already been charged, so I called and talked to their accountant (who had sent the email). She basically gave me a sad excuse that left me a little speechless: «Sometimes we get busy, and we get our invoices mixed up.» (those were literally her words). I didn’t cause a fuss, but did mention that it didn’t build a lot of confidence in their customers when things like this happened.
Two weeks later, we booked an overnight stay for our puppy, and I noticed that our card was immediately charged, but NO invoice was sent out. Given our last experience, I thought, well, I should call. The person on the phone, who was apologetic, stated the SAME excuse: «We are really busy sometimes, and sometimes staff forget to send the invoices over.»
If you have a viable business, things are going to be busy, and you need to learn to streamline invoicing systems. You need to teach your staff how to do this properly (how else will you be able to have a functional business?). This is the second time it’s happened in a span of 2 weeks. It makes me wonder, if you have staff people who generally feel like it’s okay to not properly invoice customers, wondering how the same staff deal with people’s animals, which is an infinitely more difficult job.

I used to board my Pit Bull «Bleu» at Happy Hound about 6 years ago… the first few times times I was very pleased and then after about the 3^rd time there I had taken my dog there about 3 weeks after a TPLO surgery and she was not to run or jump. I had a business trip to go on and Happy Hound assured me they would look out for Bleu and her accomodations would be strictly in a room only for potty breaks and no interaction with other dogs. I called to check on Bleu the next day and everything was fine… the following day I checked on her and the guy who answered the phone said that Bleu was having a great time in play groups running and playing with other dogs!!! I was like are you kidding me she is not suppose to be out of her room… etc. I was a wreck the rest of my trip and when I picked Bleu up I told them how upset I was. The owner Suzanne called me the next day to apologize and told me that they had 2 dogs named «Bleu» and the employee that spoke to me made a mistake and she assured me that Bleu was taken care of as stated on the instructions.
She offered t to send me a free night stay in the mail (never happened)
I never went back again because when I had picked Bleu up her bedding was soaked from her licking the door of the room (she had separation anxiety and would lick if left alone without contact for long periods of time).
So fast forward to today… My Precious Bleu has past away recently and my other Dog Dexter needed to be boarded in Sept. I thought I would give Happy Hound another try… they get great reviews and my new dog Dexter doesn’t have separation anxiety… no surgery and I am a forgiving person (mistakes happen and nothing serious happened to Bleu).
I call to make an assessment appointment and the girl on the phone is not clear at all about how this works so I was confused… its a $ 40 fee for the assessment but its the same as a day care appt… but I only have to leave him for an hour and its still $ 40? after a few minutes of this I think I figured out what she was talking about.
So we make the appointment for this coming Friday then she askes for my credit card to hold the spot!!! I was driving and thought this was something simple I could just call and book the appt… so I asked if I could call her back with it and she said I could but she might have to give the appt away?! What??? she then told me my card would be charged today for the appt on Friday!!! If I decide to cancel or reschedule it would be refunded to me!!!
Why would a reputable company charge me for an appt 6 days from now? why not take my card information if you want to hold my spot and then charge it if I don’t show up? Thats fair I think. So basically I said forget it! I mean after all I should have gotten a free stay anyway as was promised by the owner 6 years ago!!!
The owner called me again. she wasn’t budging on her policy and even after I reminded her of my «issue» 6 years ago and her promise to accommodate me because of what happend… she never backed down or offered to waive the fee.
I can afford $ 40 don’t get me wrong its the principle and this is bad business… I guess when you get this big you don’t have to do the small things anymore to make people happy.
greed is the root of all evil… no personal touches are needed anymore not at all the caring enviornment it once was.
I am still baffled at her cold attitude on the phone so I had to write this review, if your care about your dogs don’t go here all Suzanne cares about is the money!!!
I am sure she will remove this soon as she won’t want everyone to know her real motivation.
as for me I only want to leave my dog with dog lovers.

*** edited: my dog’s injuries were MUCH worse than expected. I was led to believe that she had a small puncture wound that needed to be looked at by the vet, when she was returned to me she had two HUGE wounds that had to be stapled shut and she already has dark bruising around her entire neck. My 15 year old dog has STAPLES in her head!!! I am now sitting in the lobby of my own vet because by the time I got home, one of the wounds had reopened and started bleeding.
My dog is 15 years old. I took her to daycare to make her more comfortable in her old age. Now I’m worried she might die from injuries sustained here. I was wrong to trust the people at Happy Hound. I am heart-​broken.***
DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!! My dog was attacked 2 days in a row!!! I am sitting in the Happy Hound lobby waiting for my dog to come back from the vet posting this review because they won’t tell me where my dog actually is and I’ve been left all alone to wait. I have a 15 year old dog that weighs less than 5 pounds. She has started crying when I leave for work and I thought I would try doggie daycare to make her more comfortable while I am away. I was very anxious about leaving her in somebody else’s care because she is so old. The folks here were great in assuring me that she would be safe and comfortable. They assured me she could be in her own pen because she is so old. After two days, they told me that she wanted to be with the other dogs because she was crying. I reluctantly agreed to try this out. Yesterday I turned on the live camera and the first thing I see is my dog in the mouth of another dog 4x her size. My dog was removed from the mouth of the dog, but not checked for injury. When I asked why she was with such large dogs, they informed me that they were puppies, which still doesn’t make any sense to me. My dog should not be left essentially unsupervised with dogs that could eat her. I don’t think I would have even been informed of this incident had I not witnessed it. When I picked her up, a man handed her off to me with no mention of anything. When I brought up my concern, he literally told me that it was beyond his pay-​grade and that I should call Suzanne, the owner, which I did immediately upon getting home. I had no intentions of returning to Happy Hound until I had a long conversation with Suzanne, the owner, and John, the manager, who assured me that they would personally make sure that she was safe. Suzanne won me over by telling me that many senior dogs have gotten a second wind when they come to her. Suzanne assured me that safety is the most important part of her business and John told me he would spend time with her to make sure that she was comfortable. This morning I literally put her in the hands of the John who assured me that he personally would make sure that she was safe and well cared for. Today I show up to pick up my dog, and I am informed that she has been attacked by another dog, simply because she walked past it. Why is a territorial dog allowed at daycare? I am now waiting all alone for my injured dog. After the first incident I should have known that this place is unsafe and unfit for any dog, but I was misled by the reassurance of Suzanne and John. Do NOT trust these folks just because they are nice and offer positive reassurance~ that does not equate to quality supervision or proper management and care. Over 20 minutes ago I was informed that she was less than 3 minutes away from the daycare. I have one voicemail from a random phone number. Had I seen a call from Happy Hound I would have immediately returned the call. I should be with my injured dog at MY vet. It is inexcusable that folks did not make a better attempt to let me know what was going on!
I am BEYOND devastated. When I tried to inform other clients of what had happened, a woman stood in front of me to block me from them and told me I could not speak to them. People deserve to know the truth about what kind of care their pets are receiving!!!
**Edit 2: the owner, Suzanne, cares more about her public image than she does about the well-​being of the animals in her care. Do NOT believe her statement below. I called many times to speak to her after this incident occurred and was informed that she was unavailable. She responded to this complaint within an hour but has yet to contact me to check on the well-​being of the dog that was attacked (NOT just a bite~ look at the picture and videos I have attached) in her care. She had no problem convincing me it was in my best interest to let my dog in with the other dogs, but has nothing to say to me in person after my dog was violently attacked. I do not accept this public statement as an apology. I deserve a phone call.

We were first time dog parents when we adopted our first shelter puppy. We both work full-​time and couldn’t imagine leaving this guy home alone, unsupervised, so we looked into doggy daycares. Due to the initial assessment availabilities, we visited Pride and Pedigree first, where we were told that one should leave a puppy there for a full day or for 5 days a week. Which may be true, but doesn’t help me deal with the situation at hand: owning a dog and working full-​time. There was no judgment when we visited Happy Hound and we started leaving Rufus there, daily.
A month later, we got another puppy (don’t ask, there’s no answer for that lunacy). And Trudy was going to Happy Hound, too.
The live cams are such a reassurance. The view is from pretty far off, the feed lags, and the quality is low, but you can pick out your pup, see if he’s standing or snoozing or following the staff person around. The dogs don’t get a ton of exercise and from what I could see, playing was discouraged. Which I can understand. A romping whirlwind of 20 dogs would a force that no man could stop and would probably result in some wounding. The dogs are very tired when they come home, though – it’s still a lot of stimulation, even if it’s not necessarily physical exercise.
Once we understood that Rufus has separation anxiety, a condition in which he starts to panic as soon as he’s left alone, Happy Hound became a huge life savor for us. The late night pick-​ups meant that we could still do things in the evenings (together! both of us!) and on our Golden Leash pass, we could also drop him off on the weekends, too. We’ve been gradually exposing Rufus to longer and longer times spent on his own, to the point that we’re now up to a few hours and that means that we can transition to using a dog walker. If Happy Hound were closer to us or closer to public transportation, we’d continue using them. But eliminating the pick-​up and drop-​off is going to open up a lot more time in our day.
The staff has always been very friendly and seem to always know which dog is mine, even when it’s a new person I’ve only seen once or twice. They seem to really like both dogs a lot and they still ask about Trudy (she stopped going to HH and moved over to dog walker first, since she’s fine at home) regularly to see how she’s doing. And there’s a guy who always tells me how excited he is when it’s his turn to be the lead of small hound town and he can hang out with Rufus.
Happy Hound has been a daily part of our lives for over a year and we’re all a little attached. Thank you for being there for us and for liking our pups. I know Rufus can be a little pill and Trudy pulls like a mf, but you always acted like they were just the best.

Just moved to Emeryville and was in search of a new dog groomer. Found Happy Hound, read reviews, and felt comfortable with proceeding with booking an appointment. I called and spoke with a gentleman and made an appointment for my dog to be «groomed» I arrived 10 min. prior to my appointment, say to the receptionist «I have a 9:30 „grooming“ appointment for my dog» she said «great, just need you to fill out some paperwork» She proceeded to give me a new client packet to fill out, I did so. Then she comes to take my dog back, I told her we would like for him to have a «summer» cut as it’s been very hot. She proceeded to look at me like I was crazy, then very snotty says to me «we don’t groom dogs here, we only bathe them» Well, in your Unilocal title it says «grooming» and grooming is cutting, not just bathing! Why in all the times I mentioned «grooming» did anyone not clarify that you only bathe dogs and don’t groom them? It was a complete waste of my morning and my time. Then I had to find another business and now have to wait another week for my dog to get groomed and he is suffering from the heat due to your poor customer service! Based on frustration and the snotty attitude of the staff, I will never recommend anyone to Happy Hound and I will never utilize their services.
PS — while I was waiting I wasn’t very comfortable listening to some of the employees yell at the dogs while they were in the playpen areas. They weren’t speaking to the dogs very nicely!

After nearly 2 years of a boarding hiatus, we finally took our pup Tucker to Happy Hound for a weekend of boarding. The staff and owner were all very sweet and calm, and walked us through all the information we needed about how their boarding and daycare process works. I was able to watch Tucker play with the webcam feature! He came home from boarding VERY tired but very happy!
To comment on some other reviewers experiences, Tucker had no scratches or marks, which speaks to the well managed facilities. We will certainly return to Happy Hound for boarding and daycare!

My first impression of this place was… ehh, not so good. My boyfriend and I were searching for a dog daycare & we saw good reviews about it and we wanted to give it a try. So we read their website to get any info that we needed prior to dropping off our 3-​month-​old German Shepherd.
On their website, it says: «At Happy Hound, all dogs are interviewed to make sure they are friendly and will work well in the social environment. To save time, download the Happy Hound Questionnaire.»
So we filled out the forms and arrived early the next day, hoping to get the first available assessment. In the end, no time was actually saved because we were denied and had to go back home to drop off our puppy. Therefore, «to save time» download the Happy Hound Questionnaire AND call them to schedule an appointment for an assessment. Because they will cold heartedly deny you if you haven’t already been assessed by the owner.
I’ve never been to a doggy daycare nor do I know anyone who has… so coming in, my expectations were pretty low. However, my standards for customer service is pretty high and definitely did not meet my expectations. When we first walked in, the staff working at the front desk just stared at us. There was no greeting, or a «how may I help you?» So instead I greeted them, asked if they could help me and handed them the forms. There was a little confusion at first since we weren’t in the system. I asked them if we could be assessed and that’s when the light bulbs turned on for them.
«Oh, so you’ve never been here before?» I mean, obviously not. I wasn’t in the system and I obviously made it clear that I needed an assessment. After that, they told us the next available assessment was in 2 weeks and there was nothing else that they could do for us. It was just the most unprofessional encounter and not the best first impression.
Despite my first impression, we still decided to give them a chance since there were good reviews on Unilocal.I met with Suzanne (the owner) during the assessment, who I thought was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about all kinds of dogs. I was blown away about how she operated her business. I was really pleased that we were able to see how our puppy, Elsa, was doing from our smartphones via webcam while we were at work/​school. Leaving the assessment, I was really content and confident that our puppy would be in good hands.
It was great knowing that she able to play/​socialize with other dogs instead of destroying our socks at home as well as getting the daily exercise needed. Also, she was so exhausted when she got home that she slept through the entire night. So a win-​win for all of us!
However, my boyfriend recently brought her in and she had a cast/​e-​collar on so he was very meticulous about explaining the steps to ensure great safety and care for our puppy during her stay. But he texted me that he had a really bad vibe from the front desk staff. Later, I received a call from him that she wet her bandages after she stepped in water/​urine. So I called them back and spoke to Katie about the situation who was very unprofessional. However, I emailed Suzanne about the whole ordeal as soon as I got home and she responded quickly to fix the situation. I was very impressed with how she handled the situation and it only made it harder to not want to return back to Happy Hound.
TLTR; bad first impression but Suzanne (owner) was friendly & professional and obviously knows how to operate a doggy playcare. Overall, you may encounter some very unpleasant staff from time to time but definitely a great business — you’ll be confident knowing your dog will be in good hands. However, that is if your dog isn’t in a cast/​e-​collar though. It doesn’t hurt to give them a chance!
