Mariel is the best Innkeeper! My husband and I had the best weekend at Deep Creek. Would definitely go back again!

Let me start by saying The B & B manager Melorie was very nice, and as a single mother with her young children living on the premises, very busy. The B &B is showing its age in the décor, and room conditions. The shower head is very old and the tub spout didn’t pull up fully to allow for a full spray from the shower head. Only one light bulb was working in the bathroom light, the rug in our room was badly stained, and torn. The excessive and eclectic mix of furnishings with magazines piles in some areas on the floor leaned a little toward hoarding. The 60 plus acres are pleasant, and the 2 dogs and cats very friendly. Disappointing to only have instant coffee available in the afternoon/evening. A single serve Keurig-esque coffee pot would have been great. Especially for the early riser guests who wanted fresh coffee before 8 am.

Had a wonderful massage at Haley Farm B&B. The therapist — Emily was very good! The setting was nice — quiet B&B. I had called around looking for a same-day appointment and I was so happy that Emily was able to accommodate us. Truly wonderful and relaxing!

The Barn room(romantic room), was literally a room built inside a barn! It looked nice on the inside. But 2 hours of staying there and I started to feel awfully dizzy as if i was drugged. I am not sure what died underneath the barn but something was definitely giving off horrible fumes. The place is run by a couple. The guy was kinda creepy but was polite as he could possibly be. We left that night and did not get our money back. I would avoid the barn room at all costs! I would also not recommend this to anyone who is living in an urban environment! Very rustic!

Haley Farm Bed and Breakfast and Retreat Center is a sweet, unpretentious, comfortable, homey place to stay. It is neither fancy, nor fussy and if you are looking for an Inn at Little Washington type place with expensive antiques and well-appointed spaces, you will be a bit disappointed. But this is rural Maryland, so go with the right attitude and expectations and you will love it. The couple who runs Haley Farm are down-to-earth, sincere and friendly without ever being intrusive. It is very much like staying at your favorite Aunt’s house; she busies herself cooking and cleaning and fixin’ for you, but she’s always happy to set down her apron or dusting cloth and have a nice, long chat. The many, many animals who live on Haley Farm are no slouches either; they start your stay with a hearty welcome and a willingness to let anyone hold them, pet them and feed them. They are quite adorable and no small part of the charm there. Haley Farm would not be so very Haley Farm without them. The breakfast is delicious and bonus, there’s a frig upstairs for the guests in case you need both brownies *AND* cheetos *AND* a coke at 2 a.m. which we did. You can also keep your own stash of wine in there, or whatever else you need refrigerated. When I think about Haley Farm, I think of the classic Americana cross-stich, «Home, Sweet, Home.» And if you think of it that way too, instead of trying to compare it to more urban venues, you will really relax and feel like part of the family there.

the only other review posted when i began writing this was about a massage. i’m sorry, but you can’t review or judge an entire bed and breakfast on a massage! go to a spa for a massage; haley farm is so much more. i spent a weekend there so i hope my review holds a bit more water. we arrived friday evening, greeted by an adorable beagle mix. there are three dogs that are the sweetest, most docile(and spoiled, with all the attention) i’ve ever encountered. the house is situated on about 60 acres(i think) and it is a working farm, with horses out back. it’s all set on beautiful rolling hills that remind me of northern parts of new england. there are some cute bars and pizzerias around, but the best cooking by far is what you’ll find at Haley Farm for breakfast. I enjoyed an amazing hash brown dish, a biscuit/egg casserole, apple french toast, blueberry soufflé, fresh fruit, sausage, bacon, ham, and fresh orange juice — and hot chocolate and coffee 24⁄7. there are also snacks all around the(humongous) house — chips and oatmeal bars, water, soda, popcorn, all for you to grab when you get hungry. There’s a microwave and fridge and freezer at your disposal as well. The rooms were gorgeous and very clean, with a jacuzzi tub and VHS/DVD player in the rooms — and a decent collection of movies to watch, even if they are taped off Starz. the hosts are absolutely adorable and so friendly and welcoming. i accidentally left an item in the closet and they mailed it to me the next day. they take every measure to make sure you’re happy — giving restaurant suggestions, pulling out games for you(nice chess set, vintage Scrabble, love it!). We even arrived to freshly baked banana bread and marble chocolate frosted cake… mmmm all in all, it was a delightful, relaxing weekend, and only a 3 hour drive from DC. …oh, and did I mention there’s a sauna?

wow — hate to have an urban bias but, boy, did this place confirm my stupid prejudices. the bed & breakfast is super cute, complete with a super friendly little dog, a larger older dog, and a lazy cat. but, massage? not so much. deep creek rocks! go there to ski, sled, swim, hike — but get your massage in dc before the 3 ½ drive.
