My husband had been seen at East Bay Center for Digestive Health when Dr. Roark ran the practice since 1997. Dr. Ng had taken over the practice just two years go(in 2014 or 2013). After insurance coverage goes through, the typical cost for a routine colonoscopy with our insurance is $ 80 at this clinic. My husband books his colonoscopy’s at least 5 months in advance to ensure he gets a convenient day and time for his schedule. This year, in 2015, Dr. Ng had scheduled my husband, without his consent or knowledge at Alta Bates Hospital, where my husband had never been seen before. The cost to do the colonoscopy there vs. at her clinic is 10 times more. None of this was communicated to us in advance until after we got the colonoscopy bill for $ 850. Dr. Ng’s office informed us that they made a mistake in booking him at the hospital since he had gone in for a routine colonoscopy that didn’t require hospital care. However, since the procedure was already done, there was nothing that her office could do for us to rectify the mistake that they made. Instead of having to pay our annual $ 80 fee for the procedure, we are now stuck with $ 850. We are on a fixed income, having to raise two small kids and did not budget this astronomically priced procedure into our budget. Dr. Ng’s office however, doesn’t seem to care enough about their long-time patients to rectify the billing problems they cause. I would not recommend this Dr. Susie Ng’s office to anyone for their colonoscopy procedures as clearly her office does not care enough about it’s patients to do what’s in the patient’s best interest nor will they fight for their patient to rectify problems.

Had my colonoscopy and endoscopy with Dr. Stollman – everything went great, and he even accommodated me when I couldn’t prep with the initial bowel prep he gave me – I was throwing up, profusely. He is a real master with the scope and very reassuring. Dr. Stollman is a keeper.

This practice has been a godsend to me. They’ve helped me through a very challenging health issue with skill and professionalism. Not only is Dr. Stollman one of the coolest doctors you’ll ever meet, he’s also one of the most capable and competent. His credentials are impeccable: he teaches GI at UCSF and served as Interim Chief of GI at San Francisco general. Unlike many doctors I’ve seen he is a good listener, good at explanations, and a confident clinician. He’s also extremely caring and responsive to questions and concerns. His office staff is great, too. They’re patient, friendly, and make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this practice if you are having any stomach issues whatsoever.
