Dr. Draak Davis Family Dental

Dr. Davis is a great dentist. His office is a relaxed atmosphere, in fact to relaxed. I always make my appointments at 7am and he usually walks in after that and opens the office. I just wish they hire more staff to actually answer calls and do opening. Dr. Davis even answers the phones and work the receptionist desk! Shows how much down to earth this guy is.

These guys are friendly and professional. Everything worked out nicely.

A great dentist! My teeth haven’t been this white in a long time, maybe never, and this is just with a regular cleaning. Very thorough, maybe too thorough on the x-​rays, which I hate, but better safe than sorry. It is difficult to find a good dentist that takes Denti-​cal, so I’m glad he does.

I’ve found my new Go To Dentist! Great all around guy and very passionate about his work. Very attentive to detail and answers all questions you may have for him. Not to mention nice size office with friendly staff.

I’m very happy to have found Dr. Davis. I’ve had some really traumatic dental experiences in the past so I’m wary of going to dentists. Dr. Davis was so relaxed and personable, he really put me at ease. I got lost trying to find his office (lousy GPS malfunction) and I called to tell him I was late. He answered the phone and looked up where I was and gave me directions. Even though I was his last patient that day, he didn’t seem rushed or impatient. He even let me leave the office to go feed the parking meter so I wouldn’t get a ticket. He was gentle and efficient. He didn’t try to sell me a bunch of work I didn’t need. I highly recommend him.

He is soooo awesome!!! Not only is he a great dentist but he is a really nice guy. I was going in to get my tooth pulled and I was so scared, he made me feel so comfortable, and he pulled my tooth in like ten minutes and I DIDNT FEEL A THING!!! He even joked with me after my tooth was pulled :-) I totally recommend Dr. Dravis he is one of the best dentist I have seen in a long time.

I’ve been holding back on writing this review. I currently have DentaCal & it’s not easy finding a dentist that is decent that will accept my ins. I liked him, he’s personable & it’s a new practice. He runs it by himself with what I think is a part time person on the front desk. Nothing fancy office & equipment wise, but that’s fine with me. My problem is his work. He filled two cavities. First, I could not floss after his fillings — he allowed almost no space between the teeth. Also, they felt rough (not at all smoothed out). I also continued to have pain where he put in one of the fillings. I called, they were very nice & set up another appointment. He re-​did the filling (same rough feeling on my teeth afterwards) but still pain, I came in a third time & he re-​did the filling again. When I looked in the mirror after the appointment, he very clearly chipped the tooth in front of the one he was working on — a lot. I brought it to his attention & he acted surprised (but had clearly smoothed it down so knew he did it). He asked what I wanted him to do & what option did I have?! I asked him to please fill it with resin, knowing that wouldn’t last & there was no solution. You get what you pay for. I had to have the same filling filled three times to not cause me pain & now I have a chipped tooth for my efforts. I would NEVER go back to him. Long wait, lack of fancy equipment, less than totally friendly — these things I could all let slide but not the actual dental work. I can’t afford that.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Davis and his receptionist. He did my teeth and attempted to do my 4 year old daughters but unfortunately the x-​ray film was too big for her little mouth… but he took the time to search and find a dentist appropriate for her needs. The only thing I would have to complain about is the parking… It is in downtown Oakland and it’s street parking and it is hard to find during the day… Had to walk a few blocks and pay the meter. He is worth it though trust me !

Very good-​natured and calm. His receptionist/​assistant is very nice too.

Dr Draak was lovely. Yes I do have Medi-​cal and was worried that this might land me in more of a clinic then a regular dentist chair. But to my relief I met my new dentist today and he was gentle, friendly and did a great job. I am not sure what more people want from their dentist but I am very pleased.

Dr. Draak is incredibly personable and put me at ease immediately.
I ended up going to him because I am on Denti-​cal this year and all other providers in SF were rude and difficult to deal with when I was just trying to book an appointment for a routine check up.
I can safely say now after my cleaning and in-​person experience with him that it was worth the BART ride to Oakland (he’s very close to 19^th St. station). His office manager is incredibly pleasant to work with as well.
The negative reviews of him surprise me – then again always take negative reviews with a grain of salt. He does run his business as a one man show from what I can tell now, I but found that really impressive and had a much more personal experience with him because of that. Also, I asked and he has had his practice since early 2014, so he’s also still getting his practice going.
I will definitely continue going to Dr. Draak even when I am off Denti-​cal, when I graduate college in the spring and begin working. He’s a great dentist but also just the kind of guy you want to support and see successful.

I have been to several dentist and by far none compare to Dr. Davis and staff. He is friendly, knowledgeable, patient and goes over and beyond to make his patients happy. The office is clean, bright, musical selections are fun and comforting. The office atmosphere is soothing and mellow, giving me a since of calmness… and because I have always been afraid of dentist, this really helps ease my anxiety. I was referred to Dr. Davis by an associate almost 2 years ago, and I have been going ever since with no problems at all. I always leave out a happy customer.

I made an appt for my 84 yr old mother — thank you Medicare for adding Dental coverage!
Everything seemed good — got a text message appt. reminders 1 day prior and found parking right in front. The office is handicap accessible, clean, good music, toys for kids in waiting room… its all good! So I fill out Mom’s new client info., have her sign the paperwork, give them her ID cards to copy. I make sure mom has her cell phone, so she can call me when shes done– im gonna run to Chinatown.
One hour later… shes still waiting?! I say to Mom, «they must have overbooked» unfortunatly, many medical offices that take medicare overbook client! 10 people will be in the waiting room all with a 10am appt. time or sometimes the appts. are like 5 – 10 minutes appart. The dental asst. hears me and says that there was an emergency, and insist they don’t overbook. I look him straight in the eyes — hes nice but somethings not right?- I back down, and I’m like okay «sh*t happens». I leave again and an hour later mom calls me, shes ready. When I get there shes outside with the Dental asst. He had left the office to help her down the elevator — Mom walks with a walker. I’m thinking thats sweet! I’m trippin’ this office is okay!
As we drive off… Mom is says, «Why, did you bring me here?» Me: Why!?! What happen… The dentist, (Dr. Davis) did a lite cleaning and left her in the room for approx. 15 – 20 mins. without saying anthing to her — no, I’ll be back, no nothing! When Dr. Davis get back she express her dissatisfaction to him. He said he had an emergency. (One would think, a profession office might have a backup plan for regular client when an emergency occurs — reschedule?) So back to moms appt. Dr. Davie ask her if she wants Xrays… I thought this was standard practice for new clients. I left the info. about her last dental appt. blank. because it’s been years since shes had dental insureance. By this time, shes irritated and just wants to leave! So she says, no Xray.
Before the dental asst. helps her down the elevator to leave, Dr. Davis tell her shes got an appt next month for a root canal… WHAT?
Dude is going to give an 84 yr. old female a root canal without seeing Xrays?
I agree with Donny B. STEER CLEAR… btw. I got to Dr. Fong just down the street! Everyone is that office is gets 4 stars!!!

I just had a great experience with Dr. Davis. He is easy to going which calmed me and my dental anxiety. At the same time he is professional and obviously takes the work seriously. I highly recommend him.

Dr Davis is an energetic and knowledgeable dentist. He’s both personal and professional. The office staff is very accommodating and the environment is calming.
I enjoyed my visit so much that I signed up the rest of the family. If you’re looking for a dentist that can treat the whole family, you should see Dr. Draak.

Dr. Davis is wonderful. I just started going to him, I had my first filling with him today and everything went great! His office is clean and professional and the staff including Dr. Davis are very friendly. I will be recommending him to my friends and family.

It’s been nearly 8 years since my last dental visit and I need some work done.
I am on Denti-​Cal which NOT very many dentists are willing to accept. I had my first visit with Dr. Drake this morning and he was thorough, answered all my questions graciously, and treated me like a human being rather than one of his minions like most dentists and medical docs do. He addressed the problems that I came to him with and did not try to talk me into, or convince me that I needed anything more done than what I came in to have taken care of. Convenient downtown location, near BART and super sweet and helpful receptionist.
I need three root-​line fillings and a root canal and he says that he can do all the work which I am a little wary as usually a dentist will send root canal patients to an oral surgeon. I’ll fill out the 5^th star on this if the work has been completed with success!

Dr. Davis is a good young dentist. He is very patient with children & has good people skills. My family has been seen by this office for a few years now, and even when the practice changed, we are still happy & content with the service provided. It’s hard for any dentist to get children comfortable or adults, of that matter, but, Dr. Davis does an all around good job!

Great service! I haven’t been to the dentist in awhile but Dr Davis made sure to explain everything he was doing as well as making sure I was okay. Very professional yet makes you feel comfortable! His assistant also made sure that I was well taken care of as she booked and called a day before to remind me of my appointment. Will definitely stay on top of keeping my smile on point with Dr Davis.
Side note: Parking was pretty easy for me (probably busier around 3pm as my appointment was in the morning) although it’s metered but there is a lot behind his building you can pay around 5 $ for.
