David G. Smith

My experience with David smith was not a very good one. During my case settlement I received way less money than expected. As a matter of fact Mr. Smith almost received the same amount of money as me and I’m the one injured for life. As soon as my case settled Dave stopped returning my phone calls and emails, for months there was no response on anything. He paid me an initial amount at the beginning then nothing else after that, he said that basically he took out his cut and the rest went to medical bills and money he fronted during the case. To me, this lawyer only cared about getting his money on my case then nothing else. He did not explain to me about all the fees and charges he would charge me for… all the money he fronted for speciality clinics or investigators was not discussed with me before doing so. I would never use his services again and only wished I would have chosen a different lawyer to begin with. This was definitely a lesson learned for me and from now I will research attorneys better before I pick one, which I should have done anyway. All in all it took this lawyer over two years after payout in his account to finish all my medical payments. In total this case went on for 4 years, way too long if you ask me.

I’m surprised to see the negative reviews for Dave. I was in a motorcycle accident and was unable to walk. Dave came to my home interviewed me in bed, and got the police report for me. He also went to the site of my accident and took pictures. He also is well known in the industry. Every lawyer on the opposing side he had experience with. I highly recommend him and he is extremely professional.

Very, very satisfied client. Mr Smith’s office fought for me, patiently, for years. When I first met him, he looked me straight in the eye and told me to focus on my health and getting myself well, and not think about compensation for being a victim of an awful driver who goes around hitting people all the time.
Then he fought and won multiple fair settlements for me.
I would hire his firm again, any time.

My experience below is from the end of 2009, but I thought I should put this review up (better late than never!)
I had initially wanted to hire this lawyer. I was in an auto accident, and wanted some assistance. Initially, he sounded very helpful, and got the accident report, and even wanted me to come in to talk about proceeding. I had already asked him who I should see to get help. He told me to go to my doctor and said he couldn’t offer me more advice than that.
So after getting the accident report and reviewing it (took almost two weeks to get it), and after visiting my doctor, I asked him to proceed with the lawsuit and wanted to sign him up. After getting ignored, I asked his assistant, and then was basically brushed off, saying that he couldn’t take my case. The only excuse I got was that he did not have the «time» for my case. So, basically, I spent almost 3 weeks of wasted time waiting on this guy, who acted as though we were moving forward, but instead decided that he had no time for me. Maybe if I had a broken or severed arm, he would have time for me. I wasted time on him, don’t waste yours.

Do not trust this lawyer! He seemed empathic and up-​front initially and told me not to worry and focus on recovering etc, but his true colors came out once he actually starts to work on your case. He will try to get away with doing as little as possible in actually helping you (especially if your case doesn’t have a huge settlement amount he can benefit from)…I ended up feeling like I had to get a lawyer to deal with him & how he handled my case. Really unethical. At least most other lawyers are up-​front about how sleazy they are, but this one was so manipulative! If I could, I’d give negative stars.
He’s only motivated by dollar signs and not truly concerned about your well-​being.

In June, I was bitten by bedbugs (yes they exist) at a hotel in Atlanta. The bites were itchy, uncomfortable and scarred. Not to mention the fact that I was pretty freaked out.
My aunt ordered me to see an attorney. She is the former CFO of a hair products company. She’s been on the deciding end of settlements — so she knows what she’s talking about.
So I scoured findlaw and checked websites and called all the reputable looking folks. He was the first to call back, he scheduled a meeting that fit my schedule and was clear about what I could expect and what I needed to do. In August, I got an email from his secretary asking for the pictures I had taken over time of the bite sites. Then last week I got a letter with a settlement offer. I would have loved to get more. Who wouldn’t. But it’s more than I really expected.
What I liked was that I didn’t have to stress about this. My injuries were minor — so he’s probably more hands-​on for the big stuff. But I hadn’t wanted to sue at first because I was afraid I’d have to deal with some pushy attorney and lots of work. But no.
