Dave’s Grocery & Liquor

My favorite convenient store on this stretch of Park. If you don’t want to deal with the checkout lines at Lucky you can spend just a couple of dollars more on wine here. And if there’s a Warrior’s game that happens to be on, the guy behind the counter will be watching it and happy to chat with you about it.

Never, never again. $ 1 fee for every $ 20 cash back? You have to be kidding me. PLUS a .49 cent «transaction fee». Enjoy your 49 cents, DAVE, it’s the last you’ll ever see of my money. :P

haven’t been to dave’s for years. yes, they have all the beers, wines, girlie mags too.
also parking in front. pricing so so.
it’s the traffic at the bottom of the hill that’s the bottleneck.
store is configured like a maze, no doubt to deter shoplifting.

They will overcharge, be aware, long time customer but the guy who works the day shift will stiff you, I will never go back, a hex on this store

WHY DO YOU ASK?
Well, one evening, I had just came from the SAFEWAY in Montclair and I took $ 40 out of my debit. (2 Twenty dollar bills) Later that evening, I sent my significant other to purchase something from DAVE’S LIQUOR that I had forgotten at the market. After 20 mins, my significant other came home irate stating that the BIG HEAD KOREAN stole $ 10 from me because he thought he gave him a $ 10 instead of a $ 20. They argued for 15 mins! I accompanied him back to the market with my SAFEWAY receipt that shows that I took $ 40 out just recently and that he was mistaken about the sum. BIG HEAD KOREAN continues to argue with us… Customers are coming and going and he’s still arguing with us! Now mind you, he KNOWS we live in the neighborhood and sees us all the time. Why would we want nor need to try to cheat you out of OUR MONEY??? HELLO?
(side note, YOU CUSTOMERS SUCK AS WELL… I WOUD NEVER DO BUSINESS AT A STORE THAT IS BLATANTLY DISRESPECTING A CUSTOMER IN MY PRESENCE, YOU LOW LIFED VEGABONDS!!!)
But I digress…
So to end this, he did not give back our money, we asked for a receipt with the transaction number because after 5 mins, I ceased to speak to him and wanted to talk to the FATHER, but he was not around. We came back the next morning and the Father GAVE BACK OUR MONEY! (they were indeed over $ 10 when they counted the register at the end of the night!
WE NO LONGER PATRONIZE THIS MARKET!

Gotta love my neighborhood grocery and liquor. They are nice folks and have provided my last minute and/​or late-​ish night needs of red pepper flakes, gum, smokes, beer, milk and soda. I haven’t had the issues with expired food.

Our go to place to get beer when we forget to stop at the store on the way to our friend’s house. Crappy parking lot, but at least there is one. Nice people, reasonably priced beer. What’s not to like?

Only buy beer or liquor. Everything else is either expired or two days from being expired.
Try to catch them on a good day (whatever that means) because stuff seems to change price depends on who is working.
Went in one day for a stamp, 50 cents, three days later, 75 cents.

My girlfriend bought curdled milk from Dave’s on Sunday. Obviously she didn’t read my review. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Booze and Cigarettes! That is it…

My local convenience store. Friendly staff, better than average selection and (here’s the important thing) more booze than you can shake a stick at. I’ve notice these guys are really good at putting up with all the crazies and *ssholes who come in there. I do kinda’ wish they stayed open later.

This place is a half a block from my house. I can be there and back for a tall can before my family realizes I’ve gone. I can’t hate on it. Yes it’s a dump, yes the owners are polite but shady, and yes some of the items for sale are kinda stale. I don’t care. If I want clean, honest, and fresh, I go to a proper grocery store. If I want beer, potato chips or an ice cream novelty, I go to Dave’s.

Dave looks very Asian.
They have beer, therefor it is an ok Ghetto Mart to me.

These guys are cool, and they stayed open for me when i called to get cigs late night. Savage

The owners seemed affable enough until I saw them give a kid a hard time when they thought he had shoplifted when all he had done was be lazy and leave something he didn’t want in the wrong place. Not cool. Racial politics in action.

This is my very last resort if I need any extra things. The variety is alright, but I guess its your typical mom and pop liquor store. The place is well lit with Korean variety shows always playing on television and the storekeepers are always polite. But, be careful, if you don’t catch it sometimes they’ll charge more for items at the register than what it says on the shelf.
