The reason I keep coming back here is because of the ambience. It’s a great place for drinks and food and people tend to be quite loud and rowdy here, which is perfect for a Friday or Saturday night out. My friends and I usually come here and get their soy garlic wings, their kimchi fried rice, corn cheese and their korean nachos. Perfect place for drunchies, and their food is actually pretty amazing. It’s good for big or small parties, although bigger parties tend to wait longer because they only have around 3 – 4 tables large enough to seat you, so definitely come early or expect to wait 30 minutes or more.

I come here all the time. The service is not so great and the food/drinks are expensive, but the food is a 10⁄10! The short ribs, cheese corn, and spicy chicken wings are to die for. Their other dishes are great as well!

I like this place. If you have ever been to a place in LA called OB bear, this place is comparable. Came with my sister. We got the cheddar corn, kimchi fried rice, and the spicy wings. The wings were delicious. Big pieces of wings and drums, drenched in this tangy, garlicky, semi spicy sauce. The best part about that was the wings were still really crispy. I think the wings were the best part of the meal. The kimchi fried rice was next. It was the typical Kimchi fried rice, good mix of spam and kimchi, not too overpowering on that Kimchi flavor, and it was all topped off with an egg. The cheddar corn was alright. I never had it before so when i tried it I wasn’t expecting it to be sweet and cheesy. I wouldn’t say I loved it, but i also wouldn’t say that I hated it. I’m neutral about it. Overall the food wAs good, the wings were the best. The décor is entertaining. The only down side is that it’s really loud in there. Give it a shot, I’d stay away from the flavored soju, I thought it was just all fruit juice.

Must try spicy rice cakes with ramen, spicy chicken wings, and corn cheese. They have great portions and the atmosphere is ideal for a fun time! The service is kind of slow… :(

Dang! Wish I knew about Dan Sung Sa when I was going to school at Cal. Kimchee Fried Rice: The BEST I have ever had. The fried egg on top was perfectly sunny-side, perfectly cooked egg white but runny yolk. Also the rice was so delicious with pieces of kimchee and spam(or was it hot dog?). Garlic Fried Chicken Wing: DELICOUS. The wings were very crunchy, had a delicious flavor, and stayed super hot on the inside even when we let it cool down a bit. Chicken Gizzards: Not my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. Gizzards were grilled perfectly, and had a lot of flavor with the vegetables and pepper /oil dipping sauce. The Soju & Aloe is delicious! But it is a total rip off though. 2 Friends and I ordered a large pitcher, and we weren’t really feeling tipsy at all from it. Service was fast, although a bit rude. Food came out super quick.

Out of all the food we ordered I really enjoyed the wings, well flavored and yummy. A must!!! I didn’t really like the ramen seafood being that it just tasted normal. The pancake was the same as anywhere else. Environment was dark and a little noisy, but love their suju selections.

I love this place! For locals, this place is known as P0rno Bar(or Palace), a reminder of what used to be on the walls back in the day, before the newer movie posters went up. The Korean bar food here is the best. Definitely get the fried chicken, along with the spicy rice cake with ramen, and the corn cheese. Yes. Corn Cheese. Don’t forget the strawberry soju too.

Yes!!! From cheesy corn, to the fries, the chicken, and awesome different flavors of soju — this place is an experience from the minute you walk in. Kind of loud inside and definitely best for groups. Always a fun time.

Been coming here for years but never wrote a review. Food is far better than most other Korean places similar to this place. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and most are pretty damn good. I’ve gotten sick of eating some items on the menu because I’ve had them so many times for several years but I start fiending for it every once in a while. Service is… typical of a Korean place. Servers are too busy to really pay attention so do not expect servers to come around… you kind of have to grab their attention. But they’re all cool and friendly people. Except Howard. That guy’s a real asshole! JK! If you’re reading this Howard, I love you, man. I am of Korean descent and I don’t really like Korean beer or Soju(all about stouts and Macallan) but I feel like it’s my obligation to drink it. I would recommend the Yogurt Soju, my personal favorite of the mixed cocktails(just make sure you add an extra bottle or 2 of Soju in it otherwise that shit will just taste like juice). Also, beware of the Soju. I’ve been witness to many people underestimating the power of Soju and end up puking their guts out and passed the fuck out on the floor from pounding shots. NEWBIESBEWARE… SOJUIS A CREEPER. The drunkenness will hit you all at once.

I was surrounded by so many tentacles I thought I was about to be the next big star in the hentai industry, yet I wasn’t about to start complain. A friend of mine brought me here because I am a big fan of Korean food and haven’t ventured through Oakland as much as I would like to. Also, how can you pass up on a place named the porno bar?! The innards of the porno bar were magnificent! The main bar is built and looks like something out of an old Korean drama, the booths are divided, yet you can still see through the planks. The vibe of this place is great. Soju everywhere too! We ordered a sea food noodle plate, tempura calamari, and the chicken with peanut sauce. Everything was exceptionally delicious, and the flavors were well balanced in each plate. We shared our orders with each other and the mix of all of our food in my mouth felt like someone was doing the river dance to the rhythm of my taste buds. I would highly recommend this place for their food, setting, and cute waitresses.

Came here after catching a concert at the Fox before heading back home to the South Bay. Since it was so close to the venue, you would think it wouldn’t be hard to find the restaurant… but even that was a little tricky. There weren’t any illuminated signs to distinguish it from other storefronts in the area, and the fact that the restaurant’s windows were pretty much boarded up made it seem as if the«Open Now» information had been a fluke. Lucky us, a small sign in the window told us it was open so we ventured in and were promptly seated in a private booth. Having skipped dinner before the concert, we were definitely ready to eat. That being said, we might have ordered with our eyes more than we did with our stomachs so we ended up taking home about half of our orders — not that that’s a bad thing because I’m all about that leftover life! Standouts from our order were the kimchi and spam fried rice, steamed egg custard, and soft tofu stew. Of course, you can’t forget the banchan, which was seriously some of the best I’ve ever had. I never really considered Oaktown to be a place to get some bomb Korean food, but now that I know that Dan Sung Sa is there, my mind’s been changed completely.

Worst experience ever. I’m pissed off because there was a 18% gratuity charge forced on my table. Thought my ID was fake &Service sucks and no water served to us. When we tried to wave and ask for a waiter… Nothing!!! Wtf! Why would I want to pay more money aka gratuity for NOSERVICE. Food is good though, not gonna lie. Expensive. $ 11+ for any item on the menu. I am from California, Bay Area raised but recently moved to a different state because of work. So I got a new ID from the current state I am living in. Because of this, when I showed the manager or waiter my CURRENTID; he said my ID was fake. I even showed him my California ID– everything matches and he said that the picture wasn’t me!!! Like, okay dude forget the soju then. If you really didn’t want to serve me, you could have just told me and my friends to leave and we could have taken our business else where. Seriously, screw this place. Crappy to no service at all. Never coming back& telling all of my friends in the bay that this place sucks. Sketchy area. NEVERCOMINGBACKHEREAGAIN!!!

Dan Sung Sa is not exciting to look at from the outside and from the inside. I came for a late dinner on a Saturday night and it was relatively empty despite being a place that closes at 2AM. I was sat at a tight booth with my boyfriend and served some rice iced tea instead of ice water. We ordered the Garlic Soy chicken wings and the Spam and Kimchee fried rice. Our bill was about $ 25. The fried rice had a kick and the chicken wings were great! Some of the best sauced up wings I’ve ever had! The chicken came out pipping hot so it took awhile to touch the wings. The food came out and fast and out waiter was nice. Nothing too special about this place but I can see that large groups of people would come here. I wouldn’t recommend this place for an intimate romantic dinner.

This is our go to Soju spot. Whenever someone mentions«wanna get some soju?» Porno Bar is the first place comes to mind. Came here several times and this is the place when you want to grab soju with friends. I like the atmosphere and the seating arrangements are quite intimate with the booths for each party. I also like this place because of how divey it is. Service can be a hit or miss, however I recommend this place for a night of Soju and chill with your group of friends.

This place is also known as «Porno Palace». Too bad all the original porno posters have been replaced with movie posters with sharpie drawings of penises and other inappropriate things. Regardless, this is my go-to place when I’m in Berkeley/Oakland with the craving for korean bar food and drinks. KIMCHIFRIEDRICE: fabulous. How can you go wrong with this. SEAFOODDDOKBOKKI: I would actually suggest NOT getting the seafood version because they end up skimping on the rice cakes, the whole reason why I would order this! SPICYFRIEDCHICKEN: NOMNOMNOM. Do order. CHEESECORN: classic. If you’ve never had it, give it a try! Note: the area may not be the safest… be smart with where you choose to park your car and don’t leave valuables visible!

Someone commented previously that they did not get side dishes, Porno Palace does have them, at least when I went one late night here. I came here to catch up with a friend over some soju and Korean bar food! FOOD: I will have to say that if you came in a larger group, the food price would be better. A bit on the pricier side, but still was very good! We got the Cheese Corn and the wings. I am surprised how much people loved the cheese corn, but I found it alright. Nothing mind blowing, but it is a novelty item to order here. Now let’s talk about those wings. The wings are fried to perfection and whatever sauce you choose is going to be good. I would say one order of wings is good for two people. Koreans have mastered the art of fried wings, so why hasn’t KFC gotten on their level?! SERVICE: OK. Nothing bad nor stand out. With many Korean bar places up here in Oakland, time to get the soju flowing and wing game going!

Corn Cheese! This dish is golden crack to me! I don’t know what it is about this dish but I have to have it when I come back to the Bay Area. Maybe I think it’s healthy because I’m eating corn? I’m not sure how healthy it is when it’s drenched in melted cheese but I’ll keep thinking its healthy. My mouth is watering thinking about it as I write this review. This restaurant is located off Telegraph in Oakland so you will have to find street parking. When you enter, it’s a little loud from all their customers. The interior looks a lot nicer than what the exterior leads on. Every time I came here, they were always busy! It’s not only during the dinner rush, it’s busy later in the night as well. Busy means good and that’s always a nice indicator of what to expect. Most of the tables are sectioned off to give you a little more privacy except the larger tables in the middle. It’s nice because you feel a little more intimate with your party in a noisier environment. The only problem with the design of the sectioned off tables is that it’s hard to flag down a waitress as they zoom by helping other customers. Customer service isn’t the best but I think it’s because they are so busy. The food here is good and portions are generous. It’s a typical Korean restaurant where you get a few side dishes with the meal. The menu offers a good selection of meats prepared in different ways. They also serve beer and soju here which is a nice plus. It compliments any meal well. Overall, a solid and consistent restaurant. Make sure to try the corn cheese!

No side dishes :(((( FOOD — Cheese Corn: corn and melted cheese. Sweet and addicting! 4⁄5 — Ramen Rice Cake Soup: ramen, rice cakes, carrots, and mushrooms. Full of flavor and has a nice kick to it. 4⁄5 — Chicken Bibimbop: rice, chicken, carrots, and mushrooms, topped with a fried egg, seaweed, green onions, and sesame seeds. Delicious with hot sauce. 5⁄5 — Kalbi: marinated grilled short ribs. Very flavorful and tender. 4.5÷5 — Steamed Egg: steamed egg with a lot of green onions. Fluffy and tasty. 4⁄5 — Seafood Tofu Soup: tofu, mushrooms, and seafood, topped with an egg and green onions. Tasty. 4⁄5 — Seafood Pancake: pancake with shrimp, mussels, squid, green onions, and onions. Thicker than most seafood pancakes I’ve had. I would have liked it crunchier. 3.5÷5 — Spicy Chicken Wings: spicy, sweet, and crunchy chicken wings, topped with green onions and sesame seeds. 5⁄5 SERVICE Friendly and attentive. The A/C wasn’t working and it was so hot that some of my friends went outside for air midway through dinner. We were given complimentary yellow watermelon to cool us down. 4⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS I would definitely come back here. The food and service were good. Hopefully the A/C will be working next time.

Honestly, when I first heard about a place called«Porno Palace» I was pretty scared. However, its just a nickname given by the Oakland locals because of the rather interesting and unique décor of the restaurant.(seemingly porno looking posters on the inside walls). I love Korean food so I was happy that the food and service was great! There are individual booths for each group which was great because it makes it a good place to hang out with friends or a date. My friends and I ate here for dinner on a Saturday night and we were not disappointed at all. The best thing on the menu? The Korean Fried chicken wings!

Porno Palace. that’s what all my friends were referring this place as LOL and I didn’t even know the real name until after I looked it up on Unilocal!Yeah, so you walk right in and you see a bunch of provocative posters everywhere, hence the name! Anyways, we got a pitcher of yogurt soju($ 38), extra bottle of soju($ 11), Spicy rice cakes($ 9) and Porno Nacho($ 14). The yogurt soju was good, but how can you mess that up. They were a little bit stingy on the rice cakes, def was not worth the price. The nachos were the best! It’s slathered in cheese and topped with bulgogi meat. Perfect bar food! This is a great place to drink and eat and drink and eat! I love korean food so it’s perfect! The outside of this place does look pretty sketch, but I mean that’s Oakland for ya!
