I haven’t been here in many years. Needed a quick bite and they’re close to my residence. The taco is a good size however the fixings are not evenly proportioned. I’m adding more cheese n sour cream which you can barely see in the photo. Only two jalapeños. Not to throw shade on Las Palmas because they are good but Gerardo’s is a mom n pop Mexican spot with better prices for the quantity and more meat choices.

I had a Fresh Charge on my Ankle Bracelet so I jumped into my Rover Whip and rolled to Rue Rues BBQ . When I arrived there I found that they were Closed when their posted hours said open. Epic Failure !!! So I rolled down the Street and rolled into Charlie’s Las Palmas Restaurant and Ordered up a Catfish Meal. Usual wait 10 Minutes . Charlie’s is Straight Up in the Hood !!! Straight up Ghetto Fabulous, But I wasn’t worried I had my Go Bag with me. Fun Fact I was on a Jury a Few years ago that Convicted a Mass Murder that lived right down the street LOL. Charlie’s has Menus posted on the wall . They have Bullet Proof Glass and Bars on the Windows. No Public Restrooms . Street Parking Only. 5 Tables with 2 Chairs a piece to Dine Led TV for entertainment. They only take Cash Or Atm Cards . You order at the Microphone in front of the Bullet Proof Glass . While I was waiting for my food I had 2 Panhandlers hit me up for Change and seen a fool walk by Strapped . When my food was ready they called my number on my Receipt. I unpacked my food to find 3 Perfectly Cornmealed and Fried Catfish Fillet’s, Box Cut Fries and 2 slices of Wheat Bread. The Catfish was Fresh and Tasted Great and the Fries were Crisp . They also serve Burritos there . But I stick with the Fried Fish.

Wow what a disappointment. I got a Super Shrimp burrito and a cookie. The burrito was big but SO bland. It didn’t taste the sour cream or guacamole. For the price it should of come with it. The cookie was the worst. I didn’t even eat it. Taste like 5 day old HAR

Just thinking about Las Palmas makes me drool. They have the best fried oysters and prawns. The French fries are good and hot as everything is cooked to order. They do accept phone orders, but if they are super busy you still end up waiting. They used to be better with phone orders, but so many people call and order and then don’t show up. The burritos are huge, their is no way you can eat it all. Unfortunately, I don’t get a chance to eat here as often as I would like but I did notice that the prices are creeping up. When I first started coming to Las Palmas a combination of oysters & prawns(large) was $ 13.00. Now a large is almost $ 20.00., if not a little more. They were not exceptionally busy but can be and I was glad that their were not a lot of people just hanging around. The only down side is parking.

If you care about what you eat, I am urging you to never eat there again! How they defrost fish will absolutely disgust you. And I’m debating on if I should call the health department. TRUSTME! STAYAWAY!

Bullet proof windows and a small opening in a door to get your food handed to you… This place is hood. I was getting funny looks being that my man and I were the only light skinned people in the entire neighborhood. Despite my high blood pressure being in that area the food we got was off the hook. Rice is authentic just like my grandma’s which most Mexican places it usually isn’t. Hella cheap too. Food is delicious. Good enough for 4 stars in spite of everything else. So Go! But not by yourself, with very little cash as possible on you, and make sure nothing is visible in your whip! Use your best discretion. Enjoy!

They have the absolute best shrimp and steak nachos I have ever, ever, ever had! I would recommend you be very careful going into this area, but I do what I have to do when I want these nachos. I do eat the enchiladas sometimes or fried fish, prawns and oysters which are good but those nachos. I think you get it :)

Been coming here for a while, yes it’s in the«ghetto». Bullet proof window & a microphone to order from. They offer burritos(huge portion), tacos, fish, I like the snapper, desserts and gumbo. I love the fried oysters and fish, I have never had the burrito, but my friend always orders one and the thing is massive, ask them to cut it in half. You can call in your order(recommended). Walk in orders take around 5 to10 min. I think they play music sometimes(Mexican). They have off street parking. It’s usually always a park right in front.

I’ve had the biggest and tastiest burritos ever here. They also have fried seafood and gumbo that pretty good as well.

Charlie’s las palmas and las palmas are both in oaktown. think they are operated by different owners. this charlie has a see thru window(bullet proof) to the burrito making station. menu: burritos, tacos, fried fish/seafood, dessert. music: mexican music tv: not on eats: regular fried buffalo(6ps) fillets, 10.75 –light corn meal coating. nice fresh fish taste. –caution on light bones within fish –potato salad from red poatoes, homemade., fresh & sweet. –tartar sauce mostly mayo. crumbs: –4 stars for fish, probably 3 stars for burritos –burrito ingredients premade in trays. –food cooked/made to order.

* 3.5 stars * Yep, 3.5−4ish stars is about right for this place, all things considered… –The interior(and exterior) leaves much to be desired and the prices aren’t bad but aren’t amazing either(I’ve had a larger and tiny bit better veggie burrito from my fav. place in Alameda for less $$$ than here)… BUT! –Tried their super vegetarian burrito and it was quite yummy. Maybe not Quite the largest taqueria burrito I’ve ever eaten but still nice, big, and heavy. What’s awesome is how much the menu has in terms of diversity. Deep fried seafood, shrimp burritos, gumbo, etc! Talk about variety… The conclusion is definitely that I’m glad to have this place under half a mile from home, however I will say that I wish they could make the interior look a little nicer and more welcoming /hospitable. (Till then it’ll always be take out!)

Hahah definately hood! However they have the absolute best shrimp and steak burrito. Its sooo fat you need to have it cut in half just to be able to eat it. Sooo good my tummy calls out to mee when I think of this place. Call ahead so you don’t have to wait, you may get robbed if you hang around too long hahaha

Ummm, the people that work here are sealed behind bullet-proof plexiglass for their safety. Let’s just say you don’t go here for the ambiance. I’ve only been here once, and got one of their specialties — the super burrito. It was aight. But what set it apart was the sheer, monstrous size of it. It was massive. A monolith in a flour tortilla. Definitely enough for two meals… and I’m certainly no dainty eater. They also serve fried seafood platters — red snapper, fillet of catfish, prawns, and oysters. I haven’t tried any of these dishes, although they do seem popular with their customers. All things considered, if you’re in the mood for a down-home fish fry or the biggest burrito you’ve ever seen, Charlie’s will hook you up.
