Candela Fine Art Printing is an Oakland, CA-​based print studio specializing in full-​service printing and presentation of fine art and high craft works. We apply cutting-​edge print technology and creative problem-​solving to tackle the most unique challenges of unconventional media, size and intent.

From consultation to image scanning, artwork capture, edition and exhibition printing, and archiving projects — Candela provides a seamless production experience of gallery and museum quality standards.

Services include:

–Museum Grade Archival Pigment Printing: Portfolios, exhibition prints, and giclee prints on a variety of specialty papers and canvas, both in color and black-​and-​white.

— Film Scanning: We drum scan your transparencies and negative film with our drum scanner, at resolutions up to 8000 dots per inch, with unparalleled sharpness and detail. Our drum scans leave Imacon scans in the dust!

— Need to document or archive your paintings, etchings, drawings, or other fine artwork? We offer scanning and digital capture of originals up to 40″ x 60″.

— Fine art giclee printing and artwork reproduction.

— Archival mounting with Dibond, Gatorboard, Sintra and custom framing available

— Piezography Printing: We offer stunning black-​and-​white prints using Piezography inks — 100% pure carbon based pigment ink for the highest quality black-​and-​white prints possible!

History

Established in 2010.

We started Candela to provide one-​on-​one assistance and collaboration that is increasingly rare in the fine art printing business. We are committed to working extensively with our clients to realize their artistic vision, whatever that may be. We are one of only a handful of US studios that offers Piezography printing, an ink system designed to reproduce a traditional black & white aesthetic on digital inkjet prints. In 2013, we became a Hahnemühle Certified Studio, one of only two certified studios on the West Coast.

Since in 2005 I’ve worked as a custom printer, mastering the art, craft, and tools of the fine art digital printmaker. Along the way I’ve worked as a printing specialist at fine art studios such as Color Folio, did all the custom printing for many years at Looking Glass Photo, and worked as a private printer for many artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 2010 I created Candela, a fine art printing studio, in Oakland, California. We work with photographers, painters, illustrators, and artists to help them create their fine art prints and projects.

We want to bring out the best in your art, and collaborate with you to ensure your work fully expresses your artistic vision. The skills, tools, and equipment we’ve invested in represent the finest methods and materials available for fine art printing — they are the materials and processes we choose for our own personal work.
