Great coffee shop with friendly owners. The store has a good ambiance and is a great addition to the neighborhood. The coffee itself is fantastic with the roasting happening onsite. I look forward to coming back.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an astounding energy coming from Richard.
I can with my little brother for a quick drink and snack. The hot chocolates were rich with taste, and the pastry was delicious!
Richard engages with customers like family, and just lightens up my mood.
My little brother loved coming here and has asked to go back for a quick breakfast !
The store is clean, rich with beautiful gallery, I do spy a bookshelf (my booknerd self is tingling with appreciation)
Would love to come for afternoon coffee for just a quiet relaxing atmosphere.
We needed a great coffee place like this one in the Laurel District!

Today was my first visit. But I will definitely be back. Not only was the fresh roasted coffee amazing but so was the Cinnamon roll. Wanted to get a picture of the size but I ate it too fast until next time

They roast their own beans here and have a small selection of food such as Argentinean empanadas by Javi ($ 5.50,
) and bagels from Authentic Bagel Co. I got a pour-​over and ham & cheese empanada.
They didn’t heat up the empanada (
) so I was thinking I’d be disappointed until I got it and found it warm and toasty. .. must have recently pulled the whole tray out of the oven.
Nice crisp flaky crust and oozing with mozzarella & fontina (
). Would have liked a little more ham, but still very satisfying.
The pour over with Brazilian beans (you can choose from several available) was very smooth and flavorful. Could have been stronger, but nothing «third-​wave» about it. .. a plus in my book ;-)

Where do I start??? The best cup of coffee I have ever had. The Ethiopia pour over is fantastic as well as Uganda, and Brazil. I tried a beef empanada that was soooo good. Very friendly staff and almost always a table. Awesome wifi. Prices for coffee are good too.
Do yourself a favor, and go try a cup at Café Santana;)

Awesome place! The owner is great and so is the coffee. I gotta say my vote goes to this place versus World Ground because the staff are so nice. Nice place to bring your laptop and get some work done. Great addition to the neighborhood! This guy is a coffee expert and will make sure you have a great quality cup to move you through the day.

Great vibe, diverse crowd, art on the walls. Sacks of beans from all over… they do roasting right here. And the FASTEST WiFi I’ve found at ANY café in Oakland or maybe anywhere (and I’ve been to LOTS of cafes!)

Been busy since 2016 started, decided to stop by at Café Santana and relax from all the work and duties. Got a delicious Iced Coffee, sat down and relaxed. Then I knew I made a really good decision. Made my day ;)
I’ll be back for some more Café Santana, for sure!

We’re very lucky to have Richard’s place here in the Laurel. Super friendly and always willing to chat coffee and give samples. You can tell he truly loves his craft. My favorite is the Kenya.

Went here this morning to pick up some breakfast before class. The cashier is super friendly and seems like it’s a family business. Ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and a mexican hot chocolate for around $ 6.50 total. Bagel was good, nice and hot. Hot chocolate however came out kind of just lukewarm and tasted like plain hot chocolate, was expecting a bit more spice and stronger chocolate flavor like other kinds of mexican hot chocolate I’ve tried. Will probably come often for more breakfast bagels and probably a different drink from now on. Fast and friendly service!

Coming from somebody that has to have their cup of coffee everyday, this is a place I will never be disappointed in visiting. «Consistency» is key and that’s just what this place is. Always a smile from the owner himself, Richard. Along with my personal favorite, Maritza. Customer service is key and you can tell right from the start that that’s what this place is all about. I highly recommend checking this place out and giving it the chance it deserves. YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!

The Laurel just got something awesome on our strip. The smell of roasting coffee beans daily, great coffee right next to the Bus Stop, friendly people inside. So glad Santana showed up. Support this place, it’s the real deal. I got a coffee press for Christmas but the ground beans were getting into the coffee. Not the end of the world, but I stopped here and they said they’d sell me coffee ground the right size that worked with the press and yes it worked. Less pricey than Starbucks and much better coffee. I just drink it black, so I can’t talk about any other drinks. Welcome to the Laurel Santana!

This is a very welcome addition to the Laurel neighborhood. I love how friendly the owner and his staff are, and in general the positive and unique vibe of the place: the art, the music, the sounds and smells of on-​site roasting. I have tried a few different types of drinks and have enjoyed all of them. I do lots of online work in places like this and find their wifi reassuringly fast and reliable.
I very much hope this local business continues to succeed and grow, I’d love it if they eventually expanded their hours to close later than 3:00.

Glad to see this new roastery in the neighborhood. Just wanted to try their mocha. The coffee is strong, deep, dark and bold just like i like em however their wasnt enough chocolate to balance it leaving the espresso too overpowering. Also a big downer was they had no whipped cream… So was a bummer. Simple things they can change so i’m rooting for this spot. Will return and hope they’ll get it right.

An excellent local coffee shop. I live nearby in Melrose and it is nice to have a place like this close by. I come in to get a good café con leche and get a little work done using their free WiFi. Everyone there is helpful and extremely friendly. This is also my new favorite spot for buying coffee beans to take home. They have a great selection of whole beans and they will also grind it for you. Get your coffee here!

They are just getting off the ground so the place has a very raw feel. Family owned and run and by far the best coffee beans I have had. Support the local community!

Came to Santana roasting co for the first time today and had a great experience! The owner Richard is very friendly and I got excellent service! I got a large Blend mix coffee– excellent brew! They had Almond milk and Stevia– which gives them my 5 stars! I will definitely be making this my regular morning spot.

Café Santana isn’t what it seems like. they also import and roasts their own beans. musical background by santana while i was there… small café (10ish tables). latin american drawings on the walls adds ethnic ambience.

I am super freaking picky about mochas… as I may have said already, in the review for what is now the SECOND best mocha I have ever had.
Café Santana clearly takes as much care in choosing and blending the chocolate for their mochas as every do in roasting their own beans.
I love World Ground for the community space, the couches, and the amazing sandwiches (which, actually, are the best SANDWICHES I’ve ever had), but their coffee is over-​roasted, you can taste the burning, and the syrup they use for their mochas tastes weird with it.
The mochas here at Café Santana are bliss. The chocolate tastes great, the coffee tastes great, and the taste of chocolate lingers on the back of your tongue after each gulp. SO GOOD.
Plus, it has a lovely environment. It’s clearly family run and a labor of love by everyone involved. Our neighborhood has been teetering on the edge of gentrification, and I am extremely happy to see our new great coffee place being started and run by Latinos. (Bonus: Laurel Books was cramped in this space, and now has huge new digs downtown; the space is a great size for Café Santana, and feels super roomy now.)

Finally a coffee shop that gets me. This spot has a very welcoming atmosphere with hassle free, down to earth service. Aztec art on the wall and a Dia de Los Muertos alter by the front door. Not to mention brilliantly crafted coffee. I have gotten a pound of Columbia and Organic Sumatra. I am very happy with both selections. It’s not everyday that you find a coffee shop so dedicated to flavor and quality. I ordered a vanilla latte to go and was very satisfied with my morning fix. I will be coming back regularly :)

Café Santana was in its magic first moments, like the first drips of coffee splashing against the carafe. It had freshly opened on MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland’s Laurel district.
The beans grinding and steam hissing for the customers rolling through from Planet Fitness across the street portends success for the grand opening and beyond.

Richard and company were super easy to talk to. With open faces, they entertained the orders and conversation of the new, curious customers who returned the positivity in kind.
* ONSITE ROASTING
There is a big, red coffee roaster 7 feet behind the front counter. They offer beans from Ethiopia, and Guatemala, to name a few. They have another location at Jack London Square, and so are experienced at the craft of roasting coffee.
* RICH COFFEE
Rich with the coffee’s oil like Peet’s. I had my coffee black because I’m bout that life. They also make milder, sweeter concoctions like Café Con Leche that made a few busy customers stop to savor their brews.
* CLASSY DECOR
Having just opened, they intelligently decided to put together the art and a gorgeous Dia De Los Muertos altar before the rest of the furniture. This touch of class, again, portends good things.
