I was looking for some home-style cooking with a twist of culinary delight. I went over to BZ Café for lunch and found myself greeted by Chef Johnny! I knew Chef Johnny from back in the day when he was catering and preparing culinary dishes in San Francisco. He studied the arts of cooking food in Culinary Academy and refined it with his own tastes and flavors from city living. I mean there are times where you want to just get a good meal and really feel satisfied that you gave your palate an awesome experience. BZ Café is really a hidden treasure in Oakland. The menu features down to earth wholesome food and some cultural Ethiopian delicacies. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich, served on a toasted rolled with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The sandwich was crispy and crunchy and not to mention the chicken was juicy hot. It came with restaurant style potatoes, bell peppers and seasonings that complemented my sandwich perfect. This was truly a medley of a good olé down to earth meal with the flavors and experience of a city. I enjoyed the setting because a person can go there to relax and read while drinking a nice espresso. I couldn’t compliment Chef Johnny enough and told him that I would be back there real soon!!!
