Jacques A.

Business Owner

Jacques Andres has always loved cars and has worked in the automobile industry for more than 25 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the Arizona Automotive Institute, and then completed mechanics and race training school at Laguna Seca Raceway with Russell Racing of Monterey. Eventually, Andres formed and ran a national pro formula car race team.

Andres subsequently created Alien Composites, a company that built fiberglass and carbon fiber parts for race cars, and worked his way up to Indy cars. He assumed greater responsibility for his clients and provided advice on team management and driver issues.

On the engineering side, he focused on aerodynamics and suspension issues. He worked as a driver coach with some of America’s top race-​car drivers using sophisticated tracking technology. Though he still races a Mini Cooper in the 25 hour NASA Pro Endurance, today his focus is on a sustainable approach to future of transportation needs.

One of the most honest and skilled shops I’ve ever worked with.
My Mini’s engine fan started coming on regularly after driving. Over several months took it to different Mini dealers and none were able to diagnose it. After this, my engine’s temperature shot up one day while stuck in traffic and blew a gasket.
Dealer wanted more than double what BBBM charged me. BBBM provided service/​updates unparalleled by any Mini dealer in multiple states.
2 years after the repair my temperature started shooting up again. They determined the water pump from the initial repair was defective. Though it was out of warranty they replaced it and did the work for free since I had put very few miles on in the time and gotten a bad pump. Would your Mini dealer do that?
A few weeks later, the check engine light came on. I could see one of the codes using my OBD2 reader but not the second one. I took it back, they saw the second code was related to the first, both due to having driven on low fuel and didn’t charge me.
This level of honesty and integrity is unfortunately all too rare these days. If you are in the area, these are the guys to take your Mini to. They do excellent work, are proud of it and stand by it. They’ll be taking care of my car as long as I’m in the area.

Tis my first time here and the guy who greeted me in the office was nice and accommodating. My z4 coupe only needed a light bulb, washer fluid and a little air in the tire. I walked away pleasantly surprised after everything was complete at checkout. They sent me on my merry little way with a smile on my face :-) Thanks guys, I’ll be back!

Came in here when both of my Mini Cooper’s service light and engine light came on. The downside with Bay Bridge is that their operating hours is the same as my working hours, and they don’t open on weekends:(I decide to work from home hoping that whatever is wrong with my car will be a simple fix. I took my car in first thing in the morning, and they said they’ll first schedule up to an hour of inspection, and will call me to let me know if there’s any additional things that’ll need to be done and the projected cost. It turned out that there was indeed something wrong with my engine that needed certain part to be replaced. As anyone who had engine part replaced, the labor and part cost doesn’t come cheap. Their price is definitely reasonable, and way less than if you took it to the dealer. They have 6 months warranty on labor and 1 year warranty on new part. When they called me in the morning saying that an engine part will need to be replaced, I was worried that I will not be able to pick up the car on the same day. However, they promised they’ll try their best, and alas I picked up my car at 4! While I was a bit bummed that the fix ended up costing quite a bit (but engine fixes generally cost quite a bit), I’m overall very happy that my car is clean and healthy, the price is fair, and the staff were super helpful. When I was leaving, they gave me some tips on some of things I can do to maintain my engine.

It’s been just over 4 years since I visited BBM. My first impression was very good. The degree of realism, honesty and integrity seemed in need of question. That question was quickly answered and let go of. Joe, the main man is an authentic car Guru beyond anyone I’ve met, and he’s happy to answer all my questions and explain. He is backed up by mechanics who do it right the first time with no added ‘stuff’.
Jacque — I don’t know as well, but he seems to be from where all the integrity rolls from. Kinda a crazy guy putting 2 engines in a Mini and flying around tracks with a great smile. He’s a Guru too.
Better Business Bureau may want to hold this business as the way to conduct business.

After dodging a bullet with another garage, I’m so glad we ended up going with Bay Bridge Bimmers & Minis. They were knowledgeable, communicative, and most of all, honest. We almost paid the same amount of money to have completely irrelevant work done that would not have fixed our car.
Even if this is a bit out of your way, having work done here is WORTH IT.

Just have to rave about the expert workmanship and outstanding customer service at Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland. These guys know their stuff and are committed to customer satisfaction like no other business I’ve encountered on the planet. My MINI was stubborn about her issues, but the owner of Bay Bridge Motors was determined to find and resolve the problem. He did and I’m «over the moon» to be back in the driver’s seat.

My 2009 Clubman needed a clutch and the turbo was leaking oil. No bueno! The dealer wanted way too much, but I found Bay Bridge while running past their shop during the Oakland Running Festival ½, and I called them. They were nice and honest and fixed my car for exactly what they said it would cost, it was ready when they said it would be ready, and they even washed it before I picked it up. My red rocket MINI now runs great and Bay Bridge has a new customer. Love it!

These guys were really great. Had my alignment done there a few months ago. The car started feeling a little wobbly again so they squeezed me in even though they are SO busy. Had my car for less than 24 hours & told me what the problem was. Not the alignment so no charge.
Will be bringing my mini back here for all future needs!

Look no further than Bay Bridge Minis. They’ve done everything on my car from regular repairs, «oh sh*t moments», performance upgrades (who am I kidding, they’ve put nearly every aftermarket performance part on my mini, from big brakes to intakes to suspension). They’ve even helped me pick the right parts and setup to keep it a great daily driver and a monster cavern carver… My mini handles better than ever, drives as straight as an arrow, and has never provided more smiles than when it leaves Jaques and Joe’s hands. Save the drive and hassle, go see the boys at Bay Bridge Bimmers and MINIs!

These guys are the definition of customer service. Went there to do a receiver on my car years ago and recently popped by with a few questions about a cargo basket on my Honda Pilot. They came out, looked at it and made a recommendation… I went back again with more questions and AGAIN, they were patient and helpful… mind you, I wasn’t a paying customer for this. Then a 3rd time — when a locking anti-​rattle pin installed broke on my receiver, they were welcoming, professional and fixed the job!
They didn’t have to help could have been rude or simple said no as it was a very out of the box repair, required cutting and team work and they were amazing! I wish I owned a BMW or Mini so they could be my mechanics!
Joe and Will were amazing — all class and great customer service!

Quality service — these guys know Minis left and right. They were able to pin point the problem and quoted us a price that was well south of what the SF dealership would have charged. Staff were also kind enough to give me a lift to downtown Oakland when I dropped my car off.

Bay Bridge Motors is my jam.
I brought in my 2008 BMW for oil changes, brake faults and other miscellany. Each time, the OWNER comes out and checks out my vehicle, a very nice guy to work with. Once time he picked me up and drove me back to BART while they had my car.
When I took my car to the dealership due to a brake fault, they told me the job would be ~$ 900 and they needed to replace all kinds of crap on the rear axle. When I took my car into Bay Bridge, the owner said it’s probably just a bad wire scraping against something as he’s seen that before many times. The next day I picked up the car and he said yeah we just replaced the wire AND anchored it better so this wouldn’t happen again. No problems since.
Bay Bridge has literally saved me over $ 1500 and many days of time since I started taking my car to them. My only gripe is that they have standard weekday hours and it’s hard to go to them for my oil changes now. If I could give them ALL of my business, I would.

I brought my Mini here because engine light was on. They figured out the problem and called me to tell me that I should call the Mini dealer to see if the part/​labor is still under warranty and if it is, that I should go there because it will be free. Wow, an auto shop was willing to give away business to save me money. Amazing. Anyways, it wasn’t under warranty and they fixed the part for a very reasonable price.
Bottom line: an honest auto-​shop.

Jacques and team are the experts on all things MINI.
This year, March 2014, they replaced the engine & clutch on my R53, but only after advising me in every decision. The advisors were keen to inform me of work that needed to be done, which never seems outside the bounds of reason.
When my fuel pump failed, they mended my MINI pronto.
After six years in the automotive industry, I know a good shoppe when I find. Bay Bridge Motors’ prices are reasonable and all their work is quality.
Also, being located near a BART station makes picking your car up easy when you don’t have a ride there.
I’m so glad the shop exists, and if you’re MINI owner, their vast knowledge of all things motoring will put aside any doubts you may have.
I trust Jacques and his team 100%, and so should you.

This is a great shop. These guys know their craft, are honest, have fair prices, and stand by their work and their reputation. Their high rating is well-​deserved.
I have an Audi, which isn’t their specialty, but I will still be taking it Bay Bridge for any and all service it requires.
I could elaborate on my experience — but it is a long and complicated story. Bottom line is that my car is fixed and I saved a chunk in comparison to dealership pricing. I will say that the details of my story are crazy, and as already stated, the guys at Bay Bridge took better care of my problem than I would have ever imagined.
Add mine to the many glowing testimonies Bay Bridge Motors has accrued. This is another great west Oakland business.

My first time here. Went in with a bizarre electrical problem on my ’06 530xi wagon. The iDrive kept freezing and rebooting. They conservatively estimated a couple of hours to diagnose it, and did it in half an hour or less. My CCC was busted. They replaced it, charged me $ 910 for a part that retails for $ 1100 online, and only billed me 90 minutes of labor for the entire job! Now, this isn’t the most trivial of jobs either.
Picked up the car, found that a couple of features weren’t enabled. No problem. They told me to come back in, gave me a ride to and from Bart and fixed everything up, at no extra charge, while I was at work! They were even apologetic about the fact that they didn’t get everything right the first time, even though they didn’t quite have the inventory of all the enabled features on the car the first time round.
Btw, I researched the part and the job they did online. It’s not an easy fix and I would have expected it to take longer. These guys are definitely trustworthy.
They have exceeded my expectations both in terms of quality and in terms of customer service. I’m moving all my future maintenance needs to these guys. 100% honest, very reasonable rates, they don’t overcharge you, and they stand by their work. Awesome!

Wow, I’ve had a concerning idle dip about once a week for years. When my check engine light came on, I took it to the dealer, who pulled the code and recommended a new air mass sensor. It’s a 1k repair. It just didn’t sit well with me, and online I learned that someone else had done that repair and the check engine light remained.
So. I got on Unilocal to find someone who would listen more carefully to my symptoms, and look at other possible causes. I was VERY nervous about going to a non-​dealership service place. But these guys were great. And at one point, they put me on a conference call so three of us could discuss their diagnosis work and the pros and cons of various steps forward. I loved it! And guess what? I didn’t need an air mass sensor.
In the end, I spent 877.00 on things that worked (and are arguably smart maintenance anyway) instead of 1k on a repair that wouldn’t have worked at all. YEAH!
I’ll definitely be going back to this place for future maintenance.
