Description

Specialties

Back to Center’s relaxation experience begins the minute you walk through our doors and enter our bright, clean and comfortable space. Our little Oakland oasis is serene, soothing, and welcomes everyone– from the massage newbie to the seasoned pro. We customize each client’s visit by focusing our energy and attention on you and how your body is feeling. By listening to your unique needs and concerns, our experienced massage therapists help you gain a better understanding of what is causing the pain and provide long-term solutions on how to manage /avoid future pain and injuries. Post-session, we make recommendations and suggest exercises that can ease or prevent recurrences of pain.

History

Established in 2013.

Back to Center was opened by Bailey Nichols in October 2013. Their first office was on the corner of Piedmont Ave and Yosemite Ave. inside another business. Meredith Shannon, Back to Center’s first employee was brought on in June of 2014 to meet growing demand. After outgrowing their first space the business moved up the street to Piedmont Ave. and Montell St. to a larger, two room studio in May 2015. With this move came the addition of Kelley Schaffer to Back to Center’s team of fantastic massage therapists.

Meet the Business Owner

Bailey N.

Business Owner

After graduating from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA. Back to Center’s owner Bailey Nichols furthered her training by working in a high-volume spa, but felt something was still missing. Though beautiful and relaxing, the spa environment just didn’t allow for much communication between client and therapist and the cost made an ongoing therapeutic relationship out of the price range of most of her clients. Bailey’s passion for educating clients and commitment to helping others minimize /overcome the physical challenges from chronic pain resulted in her opening Back to Center in October 2013. With over 1,000 hours of training in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Eastern modalities, and a certification in Neuromuscular Therapy, Bailey uses her ability to assess muscular dysfunction and her training in kinesiology and pathology to help chronic pain. Her unique approach to massage therapy has helped her business grow into a successful 3 person practice.
