Ti amo, Allegro Tile! Giordano Allegro gave my family great Christmas gift: a beautiful new living room/​dining room 540 square foot floor in a 70 yr old home. It’s been over a week since he installed it, and we and visitors are still reacting with jaw-​dropping «Wows!» when seeing it.
Working with a patterned tile with numerous swirls and pattern variations (Marazzi’a Just Oro, purchased at the American Olean /​Marazzi showroom on Davis St – see separate review) Giordano did a magnificent job of placing the tiles so that the final visual result is stunningly beautiful and beyond our wildest expectations.
Not only is Girdano skilled aesthetically, with an eye to pattern, but his work is detailed and excellent Perfect spacing, perfect caulk and grout lines., perfect cuts. Because it is an old house, the floor was not level. A few times, I spied him concentrating on his work, using a level as he placed the tile.
After contacting some tile contractors (one never bothered to answer; others didn’t seem particularly interested in doing a job that was not a huge remodeling project – not only prices, but also start times, seemed excessive.) I’d despaired of finding an affordable and timely way to have the floor finished. (Two new layers of subfloor were already in place.) Unilocal and Giordano to the rescue! And talk about timely –I lucked out by reaching him during a gap in his other jobs. He finished a full day before expected, most definitely «on time and in budget.»

One reviewer mentioned that because of his strong Northern Italian accent, it’s sometimes difficult to understand him. He explains why and what he’s doing, gets enthusiastic and does speak quickly, but just ask him to repeat more slowly if necessary. In addition to being a skilled craftsman, he’s courteous, thorough, detailed, committed to doing an excellent job, but also relaxed and down-​to-​earth.

Giordano did a lovely job tiling my small ’47 bathroom. It was a traditional tiling job with bias-​laid tile on the floor and wainscoting in aqua blue 4×4. It looks just like the original tile job that was done when the house was built! He consulted us to make sure the details were as we wanted them, worked quickly and cleaned up every day after he was done. A high-​quality job!

Giordano made an appointment with me at 8:30am on a Sunday morning because he said it would be a convenient time for him between dog walking and other responsibilities, and then forgot to show up.
I called him about 10 minutes after he was supposed to show up, and he yelled at me for not texting him the info correctly and told me that I had ruined his Sunday morning and that he no longer felt like coming.
Um, ok. Has clear communication and time management issues. Am extra annoyed about missing sleep on Sun morning only to be flaked on and yelled at.

Giordano does the work himself. He is easy to work with and patient about explaining options involved in slate/​natural stone work for our individual home project. He was on budget, on time (actually a little ahead of schedule), and did exactly what we contracted for in a tidy and professional way. We are very pleased with the result.

Giordano just completed new bathroom tile job. Looks great! Complications with 80 year old home dealt with well. Giordano able to work with my schedule and got job done without a hitch. Would definitely recommend using Allegro Tile!

Wasn’t sure about this tilesetter with only two reviews. He came out to bid the work as promised and promptly gave me a price quote that was the most competitive (probably because he is a one-​man shop and has low overhead).
Did the tilesetting for two bathroom floors in accordance with my schedule. Worked on Saturday as I had other crafts coming in the next week and floors needed to be done first. Amazingly fast and very high quality.
I was doing other projects in the house while he was there and had a chance to talk to him a bit. Very nice person. Came over from Italy about 30 years ago.
The only negatives: Giordano has an Italian accent and talks fast, so it is hard to understand him at first. Communication appears to be only fax and phone, not internet. Howver, none of that is important given his work ethic and craftsmanship. Great find!

Allegro Tile is the real thing: they can install any kind of tile, any size project, and do truly first rate work.
I am an interior designer, and have interviewed and worked with several very good tile contractors over two decades. My latest project with Allegro was a fireplace surround, placing expensive hand-​cast tile on top of a bumpy old brick surround. Not only was the tile installed and grouted beautifully, but Giordano followed my fussy and kind of complicated pattern with ease. If you want to be absolutely sure, I recommend you call Allegro Tile.
