Providing Child & Family Yoga classes for all ages in group and private settings

— Family Yoga (ages 5+ with caregiver (s): Families are given a fun, physical way to connect with one another through side-​by-​side and partner poses. This class gives each member of the family a chance to move, play, and relax together.

— Baby Yoga & Massage (newborn to pre-​crawlers): A class devoted to promoting connection between caregiver and baby with yoga poses, song, and touch that stimulate the nervous system and aid in digestion and sleep. Caregivers have a chance to breathe, stretch, and strengthen their own bodies alongside their babies.

— Toddler Yoga (2 – 5 year olds, with caregiver):​Tots are invited to explore the world of yoga through game, story, and song. Nurtures development and regulatory skills.

— Kids Yoga (ages 5+): Classes for this age group delve more deeply into challenging asanas, breathing techniques, and meditation all with a playful tone.

History

Established in 2005.

Alexis’ formal yoga teaching experience includes inner city schools, community centers, libraries, studio settings, and private spaces in both Chicago and San Francisco, serving children and families of diverse backgrounds. I have been teaching in these settings for over 10 years and currently offer classes in both community and private locations. Please check my website for current classes.

Alexis discovered yoga as a respite for her work as a psychotherapist with underserved children and families. Originally a tool for her own relaxation and stress-​management, yoga became a practice of play and interconnection that Alexis used with her clients as well. As a practitioner of Adult Yoga for over 12 years and a teacher of Child and Family Yoga for 10 years, Alexis has over 500 hours of training in teaching yoga to infants, toddlers, children, adults, and families of all ages. Having witnessed the regulatory effects that yoga techniques have on children and the opportunities they create for nonverbal communication and connection between family members, Alexis is passionate about the practice of Child and Family Yoga. Alexis holds a Masters Degree in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and maintains a private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
