Specialties
We practice «Iwama Style» aikido as taught by Saito Shihan, 9th dan, who lived and taught in Iwama until his passing in 2002. A number of instructors at the Aikido Institute have trained extensively with Saito Shihan both in Japan and at the numerous seminars Saito Shihan conducted throughout the world. Our style emphasizes form and technique and includes the study of bokken (wooden sword) and jo (wooden staff) katas and partner practices.
