History
Established in 2000.
I started my first bike shop Garner’s Pro Bike Shop in Redwood City, Ca. in 1972. I started building bicycle frames in 1974 and helped Specialized create the first mass produced mountain bike called the Stumpjumper. I was the representative for USA Cycling in 1976 — 1977 and held the first Giro Di San Francisco where Greg Lemond got his start in amateur bicycle racing. He later became the only American to win the Tour De France. My store is still there after 42 years in business. I moved to Oakhurst in 2000 and opened Yosemite Bicycle & Sport. This is the only bike shop for over 1000 sq. miles and we have customers driving for over a hundred miles to purchase hard to find bikes and to get our professional service.
Meet the Business Owner
Rick G.
Business Owner
I remember my first tricycle at 2 years old and have been riding a bike for fun, commuting to school and racing since then. I learned bike mechanics back in the 60’s from my dad and started working on my bikes and motorcycles. When the 18 year old voting /adult law went into effect in 1972 I opened my bike shop in a small building in Redwood City. When the local newspaper did a full page article on my shop highlighting the new opportunities available for young adults, my business took off. I learned bicycle frame and wheel building from my friend who was a machinist in 1973. I met Mike Sinyard in 1974 and helped him start Specialized Bicycles. He has since become the best bicycle brand in America. Soon after that, I was asked to be the mechanic for the U.S. team in the Trans-Baja bike race and then became the rep. for the United States Cycling Federation now known as USA Cycling. I was responsible for overseeing all bike racing in Northern California and Nevada.
