A Bed of Roses

This was an exceptionally pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights while we were attending a friend’s wedding nearby! The Bed of Roses’ owners really care and make sure that their guests enjoy their stay and get the most out of the beautiful Yosemite area. They walked all the guests through the map of the Yosemite park during one of the breakfasts and pointed out places that everyone must see while being in this beautiful area. that was very helpful. They made recommendations with the short time that we had there on what attractions are «Must See». Breakfasts were homemade every morning and the food was tasty with good variety. The accommodations were basic, the room was a bit small, but that is what you’d expect in a National Park type of an environment. People do not go there to stay in their rooms, right? A huge jacuzzi in our room was a nice and unexpected touch, and a little clean pool on the premises was great to have on hot afternoons. Overall the environment was very warm and welcoming. I’d very much recommend this cozy place for your few days to explore the Yosemite area.

Only droppin in one night. Haven’t even slept the night yet, but don’t have the slightest doubt, Mary’s b-​fast will be killer good. The Kays are marvelous folks! Can sum it all up with a great single word compliment. .HOMEY

My wife and I attended a wedding near Yosemite and stayed in the Garden Rose room at A Bed of Roses.
While we are both seasoned travelers and are pros at the large chain hotel experience, we haven’t stayed at many B&Bs in our many years of travel. A Bed of Roses will be the gold standard for any future B&B experience for us.
Mary Kay and Steve make you feel welcome and at home right away. You should absolutely make sure to take advantage of the joint breakfast which features addictive pancakes, eggs, raspberry toast (otherworldly) and many other delicacies prepared fresh each day by Mary Kay.
At A Bed of Roses you will feel like family (and maybe gain a few pounds ;)

We truly enjoyed our stay here at Bed of Roses. We stayed in the lovely Red Rose room which was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a private deck and the view of the Sierra Natl Forest was so beautiful! Our hosts, Steve and Mary Kay, were so warm and friendly. They cooked a delicious breakfast the next day and we enjoyed getting to know them more and some of their guests. We will definitely be back!

Mary Kay and Steve are awesome and make you feel very welcome. First time I do something like this. I was kinda weirded out at first because of privacy haha but I loved my stay there. Our room was clean and ready. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend you don’t pass on Mary Kay’s delicious breakfast. At first I didn’t want to sit with strangers while eating breakfast haha but all the guest were very friendly and we all chatted about our hiking adventures. I will definitely come back.

Possibly the quintessential bed and breakfast, the Bed of Roses BnB is located just outside of Yosemite and is a real treat. The two owners, Steve and Mary Kay, are incredibly pleasant and make fantastic breakfasts. Each breakfast was a treat not only food wise, but the company you meet made for great conversations each morning. The rooms are quaint, but quiet. Steve and Mary Kay also have an impressive knowledge about Yosemite and the surrounding area and are willing to share. I would definitely recommend staying here.

What an amazing experience. The lodging was awesome, with a hot tub and lots of comfort. But the hosts made this an even better experience over a delicious breakfast and lots of story telling. Highly recommended!

First experience at a B&B and it could not have been better. My girlfriend Alexis took me here for a little weekend get away. Steve and Mary Kay were so friendly and welcoming. This was much better than staying at a hotel and the Breakfast was amazing. Way better than what you would get at a restaurant. This is a good spot to stay if you want to head up to Yosemite, we went up to the snow park the first day and then on into Yosemite the second day. If you are local and looking for a nice place to get away for the weekend this is the spot. And if you are from out of the area and your first time to Yosemite I can’t recommend a better spot.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Garden Rose over the New Year. Bed of Roses is located ~15 min from the Yosemite south entrance, and 5 min from downtown Oakhurst, which has some great dining options if you’re looking to refuel and unwind after a long day hiking:) Our room was very nice and clean, with spectacular views of the mountains. Mary Kay and Steve are awesome people! They were very helpful in suggesting the best hikes so we could get the most out of our short stay. Also, the breakfasts are AMAZING!!!
If you’re planning a getaway to Yosemite definitely check this place out.

I generally avoid the whole B&B-thing as I like privacy and generally like newer facilities without so much «character» (IE old furnishings, carpet, creaky floors and beds, etc.) But we didn’t want a cookie-​cutter Best Western-​rooms-​facing-​the-​highway experience for our anniversary, so after MUCH research, we settled on «A Bed of Roses.»
It was a wonderful experience and we wished we’d been able to stay twice as long as we did!
On the advice of others we booked the «Red Rose» room… a very spacious (actually «huge») room with amazing views, private, private deck, surrounded by greenery and woods on all sides, and a large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. DirecTV with flat-​screen HD TV, Amish fireplace, big closets, reclining chairs, futon, Cal King bed, high beamed ceilings… we just loved hanging out in it. Plenty of heat in the winter, and A/​C for the heat of the summer. Wonderful, peaceful environment.
The owners Mary Kay and Steve are just as nice, caring, and accommodating as they can be. We truly made friends there and look forward to staying in touch. Their breakfast was delicious… they are sensitive to any dietary needs, and you really get the «our home is your home» feeling.
Its only a short 5-​minute drive from Oakhurst, quiet in the hills on the way to Yosemite. But close enough to all the great restaurants (which Mary Kay and Steve can recommend.) They also suggested the nearby Lewis Creek Trail (and waterfall!) which we hiked to… after 25 years of going to Yosemite, we never even had heard of it– SO glad they told us!
A Bed of Roses has a small pool, a deck with a BBQ for your use, in a pretty, rustic environment. Plenty of character– but the «good» kind. MUCH better than any hotel. Loved it, and loved Mary Kay and Steve.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the purple room this past weekend. I was a bit nervous, as I’m use to staying at hotels and have never stayed in a bed and breakfast.
Steve and Mary Kay are amazing people, and fantastic hosts. We checked in on Friday afternoon, and were greeted with warm smiles and kind introductions.
We asked for a few tips on local places to eat in the area and maybe a local hike, and we were given a few recommendations. Mary Kay also told us about a hike no less than 5 minutes from A Bed of Roses called Lewis Creek (if you have time, go on this 90 minute hike! There is a beautiful waterfall at the base of the hike).
Breakfast was amazing, and May Kay was able to abide by my food allergies with ease (gluten intolerant).
We will definitely be staying at A Bed of Roses again in the near future!

Definitely check this place out! Steve and Mary Kay were awesome! Super sweet people and great hosts; always asking what they can do to make your stay better. In fact, they figured out what I liked (how I took my coffee, or how many glasses of orange juice my wife drank, for instance) and things ready for us… the way we liked them!
We stayed three nights in the Garden Rose, and Got spectacular views from the near 180-​degree windows. If you’re an early riser, definitely get up for the sunrises! They’re a sight to behold. And, if you’re in the mood for Yosemite, it’s just up the road. We will definitely be back for the great food, marvelous conversation, and amazing location.
Psst…don’t tell anyone else about the Lewis Creek Trail, about 3 minutes north on Hwy 41.
My ONLY critique was that the bed was a bit too hard for my taste, but if that’s my worst issue, I’ll take it.

We spend an amazing night in the Garden Rose. The view is absolutely stunning and if you wake up early enough you can see the sun rise above the mountains. The place was clean and neat. Mary Kay and Steve couldn’t have been any sweeter. They provided us with incredibly delicious breakfast in the morning. We wish we could have stayed longer! The house is very close to the Yosemite park entrance — only about a 10 – 15 minute drive. There are a few decent food options nearby. Definitely recommend to stay at this place if you get a chance — you won’t regret it!

Looking for a lovely, nearby get-​away near Fresno? A Bed if Roses is an ideal choice. It’s just an hour away in Oakhurst, just minutes from Yosemite. Steve and Mary Kay are gracious hosts, the coffee and conversation are excellent, and the food is delicious. I stayed in The Garden Rose room with panoramic views, a MOST comfortable bed, and a really good shower! I can’t wait to come back and try The Red Rose, especially when it is all decked out for Christmas.
