Stopped here for lunch on our way to Yosemite. It was fresh and tasty. Very good service. Loved the chicken tortilla soup, the Yucatan pork salad and the veggie burrito. Great place for lunch.

As always Unilocal did NOT fail us. We we’re hungry and wanted to go some where different. Grace was our server and she did a GREAT job. The Rosarito grilled fish(cod) tacos we relish!!! Had a nice buttery flavor and melted in your mouth. The Mar Y Tierra was excellent. The beef on this dish was cooked perfect. Some places tend to over cook such a thin cut of beef but they knocked it out of the park! Thank again to our great server Grace she was very friendly and gave damn good advise. We WILL be back!!!

BEWARETHEDRUNKS! This place was exactly what we were looking for on our way back to Bay Area from a vacation in the mountains! The food was authentic, delicious, and made fresh. The service was fast and gracious! BUT be warned the drunks in the bar were obnoxious and encouraged to be so by the nasty, high pitched«Bar Wench». Be warned! If you want good food, good service and a loud obnoxious environment this is the place for you!

Anything I have ever tried has been excellent. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I even took my staff out for a last minute, late night dinner after work and they accommodated us. You guys will always have my business. Keep up the great work!

We have been here many times, but have not been in a while since we live about an hour away in Twain Harte. Went to Modesto to do some shopping and made another stop. Better than I remembered! Service is good, and food is so flavorful. I wouldn’t say it’s traditional Mexican, but it takes many of the traditional mexican flavors and adds a twist. Great selection of unique offerings and everything is always delicious. Should have reviewed this place a long time ago. I am a huge fan!

I’ve eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad meal, customer service can be so so at times. But it is made up with amazing food and drinks. I love their filet mignon, their salmon tacos, Tamarind Soy Glazed Salmon, and Crab Enchiladas. All delicious and flavorful. There Micheladas are delicious, I like that they ask you what kind of beer you want it. So that’s nice that you can choose. A lot of places just go with what’s popular. I’d definitely recommend others to come check them out if they are in the Oakdale area, and I will be coming back to try other items on the menu.

The food here is pretty good, not 100% authentic and you can tell they are catering to more of the«cowboys» of Oakdale. You have to conform to your region and completely understand, no complaints about that just letting others know. The staff was also nice and seated promptly, have been back a few times and will go again next time I am in town and in the mood for some Mexican food

Oh yes, once again here for business; was going to try another restaurant in town due to a review about a smell from possibly bad plumbing. Thought I would go anyway. Not there, they must have solved the problem. Loryn, was awesome. I was having a really bad day; good food, great service is a really nice end to a crappy day. I ordered Seafood Enchiladas with a substitution of steamed veggies for the rice and beans. Best in the house for sure!!!

Excellent Mexican food! One of the better places to eat in town. They are not your typical Mexican restaurant either. I haven’t received anything bad from here. Great margaritas also!

Love this place! Me and my boyfriend come here all the time. Try the Chipotle Melanesia in a burrito, not on the menu but it is SOGOOD. The chicken mole enchiladas are also one of my favorite things here, very different from normal enchiladas. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu though. Always have great service and a good meal so 5 stars!

Stopped by on way to park due to good Unilocal reviews and it was gross. Place smelled like a DIRTYDIAPER/sewage problem. Not joking at all– strongest at the door but also smelled into one dining area, how they’ve let that continue is beyond me. Restaruant was packed so maybe locals can’t notice? Service was very very fast but menu selection was all over the place(wings, Mexican, Brazilian? Pick a theme) and food ok at best. I’d avoid if possible but drove around town for 10 minutes prior so was desperate.

I chose this place out of convenience, but the reviews made it seem overly perfect, also. With the beer signs in the window, I thought that this was a bar and mis-labeled. It turned out to be a bit bar, a bit restaurant. It was split into the bar, a dining area, and a third area, which seemed to be an add-on or private dining area. It made me think that three siblings couldn’t decide how to use their inheritance money and all three got what they wanted and nothing matched, décor and all. Everyone seemed friendly and the first person to talk to me said to sit anywhere I liked. With the few tables, I chose a table for four that was against an interior window, so that I had an indirect view of the outside. Someone else brought the dinner and lunch menus and gave me a quick explanation. A short time later, I was asked for a drink order. After learning that they had Coca-Cola products, I asked for an iced tea. The menu seemed odd – it wasn’t Mexican and wasn’t really Latino, but it had Mexican, Cuban, and Brazilian(I think) items, plus some random choices. I ended up asking about the Combinaciones – why certain things were in Spanish, I will never know. I ordered an enchilada combo, which came with rice and beans. The server asked if I wanted cheese, then chicken, and finally, we got to the shredded beef. I would have been happy with ground beef, but for the price, it seemed shredded beef made sense. It took a while, though there were several people there. The rice and beans seem to be flattened to take up more space on the plate and the enchilada seemed a reasonable size, but not generous. The taste of everything but the sauce was good. Maybe, they don’t sell a lot of enchiladas and they open a can of sauce for them. The salsa that came with the chips was really good, in contrast. I’ll wait to find out that it was the opposite and the salsa came from the can. The $ 12+ and tip seemed too much for a slightly better than mediocre meal with really great service, but it was good to try the place.

We were headed back from Sonora and found this little gem hidden in a strip mall on Unilocal. We got in right before noon on a Sunday and the place was almost empty but there were a decent amount of patrons by the time we left. The service was friendly and we got our drinks and orders putt quickly. I got the pollo fundido after reading some other Unilocalers reviews. I was not disappointed! It was rich and flavorful with tons of gooey cheese. The rice and beans on the side were also cooked just right. My only issue is the saltiness of the food as other have mentioned. As awesome as my fundido was, they probably could’ve cut the salt down by more than half so be careful if you’re on a sodium restriction. My other dining partner raved about the bacon wrapped shrimp. She got a large serving of plump shrimp wrapped in perfectly crisped bacon. The only complaint I heard was my fiancés shrimp in his Mar Y Terra was bland and under seasoned. We’ll definitely be back next time we pass through. The menu looked great with more unique items than your typical Mexican fare.

This place is awesome. It’s in a strip mall, which is not usually a good sign. However, its actually quite a fabulous little set up they have there. The food was delicious. Carne Asada, fish tacos, and the volcano were all amazing! The kids did not like their burritos, but they’re picky always. :-) I would recommend this place for some good Mexican food and a beer.
