Located in the art district of Oak Park, right on Harrison, this place is worth going a little out of your way to get to. The owners are amazingly caring, knowledgeable and helpful while carrying carefully selected products that promote heath and well being.
The products are all made in the USA, and the staff can tell you (or will find out) any information you can think to ask about any product they carry. This is extremely overlooked by many pet owners but absolutely shouldn’t be– ask one of the staff here to explain (so I don’t go off on a tangent during this review ;-) Wide variety of natural, grain-​free, and organic pet foods (dog and cat) as well as treats and a few natural homeopathic remedies.
There is a cooler full of commercial pre-​packaged foods, but they also cook fresh meals for your pets. These hand crafted meals are all carefully created with high quality fresh ingredients and attention to the details (healthy but flavorful.) Although this option will definitely cost you a bit more than the run of the mill feeding options, I think it’s worth it if you truely are a pet person and treat your four legged critter as a member of the family.
I have two dogs and a cat who all absolutely love the meals and treats. In fact I have yet to bring home anything from here that they haven’t liked. Sirius Cooks has also become my go-​to for pet referrals and I think over the past couple years they have saved me countless hours of aggravation by giving me wonderful advice and suggestions. We have since moved to the city, but I still make the trek out here and will continue to do it for a long long time.

Just moved to the area from Seattle, was BEYOND thrilled to find a local store that will meet my dog’s RAW diet! Not only that, but the store owners re
ally know their products. So happy to have this gem nearby! There are more high-​end, grain free foods than I have ever seen in one place.

Our precious Wheaton Terriers, Bogey the Schmogey and Snuffleupagus, (Snuffy, for short) are allergic to EVERYTHING. We’ve been feeding ground beef and sweet potatoes for years but suddenly Snuffy developed a serious issue with the Vit K. We searched the web, visited stores with our allergy list, talked to vets…(grrrrr, and no I don’t want to feed something that causes a reaction then treat the reaction with medication ~ thanks anyway.)
One 20 minute visit to Sirius Cooks and years of frustration and fear evaporated. Wild Calling canned food provides exactly what we need.
Harriet and Julie both took the time to listen to our needs, compare labels, assemble the possibilities and wish us well.
Within 2 days, Snuffy had more energy. His allergy belly spots began clearing in 4 days. Our 8 and 10 year old dogs are running around like puppies, chasing each other and «Whooo — Whoo-​ing» at us as if to say, «Thank you! We feel much better!». We are so relieved to be in the right place. You can’t buy this feeling.

Harriet is, by far, the most knowledgeable person when it comes to the ultimate pet care. My husband and I started coming to Sirius Cooks more than a year ago and would never go anywhere else. Harriet helped us get our dogs & cat on grain-​free foods, and it not only improved their energy, coat, etc but our dogs lost weight and look like puppies once again. Harriet also makes a homemade stew for dogs several times each week, which you can reserve. It’s organic, and the dogs go wild for it. This pet boutique is an absolute gem in Oak Park — a wonderful variety of items for your four-​legged family and Harriet to boot!

The shop is personal, caring and everything you would want to care for your best pals overall health and wellness. Stewards of quality animal care. We wouldn’t treat our Mayor Snoops to a meal that hasn’t been inspired by the informative health tips by the ladies at Sirius. Purchased a thunder shirt here and have recommended this comfort essential to everyone. A must for anxious pets during storms and for louder noises. Hooked on the Evengers foods along with all the house made yogurt treats. Thank you and much love!

Thanks to Harriet and Julie my dog eats better than I do. I live just across the street and my pup and I normally stop in during our walks to either stock up on some of their amazing, cooked fresh strew or to just buy a treat. He gets so excited every time we go in there because he knows he’s going to good food and belly rubs.

This is where we get the food for our three furry friends. This is a small local business that we are proud to support. They carry a great selection of high quality food for cats and dogs. They also prepare home cooked meals for them which would be closer to your pet’s natural diet. Taking care of your pet’s health starts with the food they eat. Sirius Cooks are «stars» in my book, seriously!

A friend of mine with a cute little allergy ridden pug recommended Sirius cooks to us. We have a Blue Weimaraner puppy who we figured out (with the help of the lovely women working here) has grain allergies. She had been getting little itchy oozy bumps all over her skin and red under her legs and stomach. I felt so bad for her but this place eased my stress. They recommended a raw meat patty mixed with pumpkin. Since being on the recommended holistic diet, she’s 100% better. No crazy vet bills or prescription food needed. Our Zz was the worst eater ever and now someone could rob the house during her dinner and she wouldn’t know a thing happened. lol! We went in today to restock and they’ve been selling out of our pumpkin a lot lately but the nice gentlemen who assisted us today said we can request a personal order. so nice! Just lots of love for this place

The saddest day of my dog’s life was the other day when we went to get him treats. .…and he stood up against the door, not understanding they were closed and he could not get in and get his chicken stew. Which is only one of the wonderful concoctions they make to feed your dog. A friend said it was good enough to eat — I thought she was crazy until I opened the carton the first time. Seriously, I could have stuck a fork in. Anyway, they have a great selection of wonderful food and treats for your canines and felines, and prices are reasonable. Owners are kind and knowledgeable. And your dog won’t want to leave. Parking is easy, and if you are walking, you can bring your dog right in with you. And when you are done, go outside and play chess on the built in board next door on the sidewalk — great neighborhood.

Wonderful health conscious dog food store! Sirius Cooks has a wonderful variety of food/​treats and even make their own in their kitchen! They have amazing customer service too!!!

This is the place to come for health and happiness for your cat or dog. The strict requirements that these folks place on their offerings is why I keep coming back for more. Everyone here is knowledgeable, eager to help, and cheerful to talk with. We all agree that the ingredients in run-​of-​the-​mill brands are hard to even stomach as thoughts!
Whenever I need something super special from a line they carry but don’t necessarily stock on hand, they are quick to accommodate. I go out of my way to come here, and my feline babies give a ‘paws up’ rating for what I bring home. Oh, and what’s even nicer — is that they stock some select sample packs so that the finicky felines can judge whether they like something or not before I spend a small fortune on it. Very helpful… very appreciated.
Patronize this shop and you may only set foot at a big box pet store again for a batch of litter. Brav-​o SC!!!

These people are so nice and friendly. Best of all, they carry some GREAT dog treats and toys. The store is very small, so they don’t have a huge selection but what they do have is fabulous. My dog goes NUTS for the Buffalo Bites — both the training treats and the liver ones.

This is the best store! The super nice guy working here is sweet enough to carry my giant bag of doggy food to my car. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. It’s a joy to come in, and the kids love picking out weird animal parts to reward our dog with after a long day of staying off the furniture.

I love this place. I first started going here because they were the closest store that carried the grain-​free food my Shih-​Tzu, Benny, ate when we adopted him. I continued to go here because the staff is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I learn something new about my dogs every time I go in there. They have a unique selection of treats and toys. They sell a wide variety of natural and «good for them» food, no Alpo or Iams here. And they even make their own food and sell it in the store. Since we added our other fur kid, Teddy, to our family I’m in Sirius a few times a month stocking up on goodies for them. So take the pups for a walk, explore the arts district and stop into Sirius. Oh, they have cat stuff too.

Sirius to the rescue! Make Yah Lean Green Beans and Turkey Stew have helped Suzy stay excited about her meals and kept her tummy happy, while unknowingly dieting and already losing 2 lbs! Yay!
Harriet and Julie have been so kind and helpful in showing me how to count doggie calories and recommending good healthy grain free food and homemade stews. It’s become one of our favorite stores. (Well, any store that offers a dog treat is a must stop for Suzy.)
We have also found some great doggie tooth gel to help our old Chihuahua friend, Mr. Big, and Julie recommended some calming remedies for our more anxious friends as well.
They are a wealth of knowledge for keeping your pet happy and healthy. We also love how the dog statue outside is always dressed for the season.

I buy my dog’s food here… no…not the lovely hand made stuff that they offer… but they’re an Evo distributer… and that’s what Rerun likes… so…that’s what I buy… and they always have his «red bag» in stock.
And…they’re the only place we’ve found that carries his favorite training treat… dehydrated sheep lungs. (Baaah!) Yes… they look nasty… but my dog will do calculus for them… and they easily break up into training-​sized bits.
The owners are always ready to talk dog… which is fine by me because I’m always ready to talk dog. The nice thing is… if my dog’s nutritional needs change… I know there’s a store where I can get good advice and purchase everything I need to keep my pooch healthy and happy.
They don’t carry Purina. So if you’re looking for non-​premium brands of dog food… you’ll be happier at Petco. But if you don’t want to spend a fortune on your dog in vet bills when s/​he is older and want to invest in a high-​quality dog food now… this is the place to go. (Rerun likes EVO… but they carry a nice variety of «grain free» brands. If you have a dog with itchy skin… seriously consider trying grain free.)
And when we go in… they’re always handy with a new healthy treat for my dog to try. Since he’s rather fond of treats… he gets a chance to show new people his mad skillz at shaking hands… twirling in a circle… and knocking things over with his tail because he’s wagging so hard.
