meh. dr. simcox was great, and was personable and got right down to business. he made sure i was comfortable and kept me in the loop. he also had my two teeth out in less than 10 minutes. the front desk staff was nice and polite. the rest of the experience was subpar. the nurse who took me back and xray’d me spelled my name wrong on everything. she brought in my aftercare instructions and prescriptions, but when i pointed out the name error, she left to correct them and i never did get the aftercare orders. i also didn’t like getting numbed and THEN signing a waiver initialing that i understood every possible bad thing that could happen. scary. also, the office hasn’t been updated since around the time i was born (the 1970s). it’s bleak, old, and dingy in there. considering the size of this place and the amount of people being shuffled through — another reviewer said factory, and that is dead on — you’d think they could kick in some $ to update the place. at least replace the peeling cheap 1970s particle board cabinets. all in all, i’d go back again to see dr simcox if i needed to.

December 23 I had my wisdom tooth pulled. The doc I saw was great! He worked hand in hand with my hematologist to come up with a plan of action. And it was pulled successfully and healed well. My only displeasure with this place is the billing. It’s 5 months later and I’m just now settling the bill and getting the money I was owed reimbursed to me. It’s been the biggest hassle to get a hold of people in the office and then get them to send things like x-​Rays out. Which delayed everything quite a bit because my insurance wouldn’t make a payment without the necessary documentation. Finally I had my insurance agent spend the day tracking them down and having them send the necessary info over. It shouldn’t be this difficult to settle a payment.

The front desk staff, technicians, and Dr Klenetsky were unbelievably fabulous! I have found my oral surgeon for any future needs. Dr K helped to ease my anxiety and I was appreciative of the low cost, especially since I didn’t have dental insurance. Thanks so very much!

Receptionist is old school, not super friendly but gets paperwork ready fast. What matters to me is its a clean facility, oral surgeon (Dr. Kim) is informative and funny, and dental assistants are nice. Overall I’m happy, had a good experience. I’ll update after I do the one week check up, I had all wisdom teeth removed!

My stars are for the front desk who found my wallet and made superhuman efforts to return it. I mean like a CRAZY amount of calls and even considering dropping it off at my workplace.

I liked Dr. Klenetsky a lot. I liked the chair side assistants. There was a huge wait-​like an hour-​in the chair and that was a severe bummer and maybe oral surgeons have no interior design skills but someone could put a few dollars into updating the place-it’s kinda like the 50’s or the 60s maybe but overall I am very pleased with my experience.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed and it went as efficient and painless as possible. They’re like a wisdom-​tooth removing factory. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Dr. Simcox was knowledgeable, personable, and got right to business. He explained the whole thing and I felt in the loop the whole time. Laughing gas kept me content and the procedure itself went quickly.
The instructions were clear and I was in and out in two hours including wait time, procedure, and recovery.
Nobody wants to get this done, but of you have to, these people are the best ones to do it.

I received services here in 2009. I was not happy. Not sure which doctor performed the extraction but I went over several times how I cannot have epinephrine (it causes MAJOR panic attacks for me) so after my injection I start feeling weird I write it off that I am just nervous. Well by the time he was finished I was in full freakout mode. He left me in the room alone and shut the door, and I soon found myself wandering the hallway looking for help. They asked me to sit down I couldn’t. I’m not sure how many of you have dealt with panic anxiety but it was all I could do not to run out of there screaming for help. My skin was crawling I had tears in my eyes and the doctor finally tells me «oh I used it anyway because it helps with the bleeding.» Are you kidding me?: I was so upset and embarrassed and thought I was going crazy seeing as how it couldn’t possibly be epinephrine if he assured me it wouldn’t be used. Never will I return.

My review is for Dr. Pearlman, whom I used two or more times in the past and was always very pleased with his work and compassion with his patients. However this last visit (yes LAST) was the worst yet. He was pleasant at the onset, as I explained I had no tolerance for pain and he explained as he went along. Yet when I told him I didn’t feel numb, he proceeded to do an entire extraction As I reacted to the pain, he proceeded to scold me saying: «to stop already as I would scare the children in his office». Perhaps his bedside manner could use some fine tuning or maybe its time to reflect on humane treatment as that’s part of healing and medicine too.
I know pain when I feel it and his staff froze up as if they were in shock or embarrassed to be a part of this barbaric continuation of an extraction when the patient was clearly in TOTAL DISTRESS AND PAIN. Never again, age is more than a number in some cases. Horrible experience in every aspect!

Dr. Pearlman was amazing! He made tooth extraction the best it probably will ever get! He explained everything thoroughly and made me feel really comfortable in the chair. Everything healed very nicely and have been pain free ever since. Thanks Dr Pearlman!

If this review could be solely based on the Dr. Pearlman then it would be five stars. Dr. Pearlman was extremely nice and patient. He took the time to explain everything to my son who was nervous, to say the least. The nurses and assistants were also very kind and compassionate.
The receptionist/​front desk staff were easily less than one star. I am not sure which one was worse than the other. They both seemed indifferent and rude. I am sorry, I don’t bring my son to the oral surgeon everyday so I don’t know how it goes. It wasn’t just me because they seemed rather rude to everyone, so it at least they are consistent!

Klenetsky is soo nice. He was gentle and completely understanding of my nervousness about the wisdom tooth extraction I’d been avoiding. My lower teeth were really REALLY impacted and while I’ve been sore for longer than I expected I called the office for advice and the receptionist was more than happy to talk to me about things that can help. I’m going back today to get my stitches out. Definitely go and get your teeth yanked by this guy!

Well, I have really mixed feelings on this place. I went here last Friday to have my wisdom teeth removed. I ended up coming here because of Unilocal’s wild reviews for this place. The surgeon I originally called that my dentist recommended made me very uneasy. Something about being told you could «walk-​in» to have your wisdom teeth removed, but «had to be one of the first 10 in line» kind of set off the alarms in my head.
So then there was Unilocal.Which led me to oak park to dr. klenetsky. The first receptionist I talked to was probably the nicest, most comforting and motherly woman I ever talked to. She really put my uneasiness to rest. Unfortunately, that was the last time I talked to her. I seemed to get the nastiest lady ever, every other time I called. Whether it was to check that they had received my x-​rays or otherwise. I don’t know if she found out that her husband was cheating on her or what, but she was definitely taking everything out on the people calling. Even when I called to inform them I may be a few minutes late due to Chicago traffic on a Friday afternoon, she told me «I BETTER be there by no later than 4:15.» More like a threat than a request really. Then when I actually met her in the reception office, she did everything but roll her eyes at me… Now what did I ever do to you?
The second point of contention I have is the nursing staff seemed to know absolutely nothing about, well, nursing. Everyone seemed to act like this was not a big deal at all and I was scared for no reason (I had never been under general anesthesia or have had any sort of surgery despite one small outpatient surgery to remove lead from under my skin when my old brother stabbed me with a pencil in the face… yeah that’s another story). They acted like I was some sort of freak for being nervous. Then when they asked about allergies, I told them I was allergic to sulfa drugs. Which are ancient and hardly used anymore, but better safe than sorry. So then the nurse proceeds to tell me that I cannot take amoxicillin because I am allergic to sulfa… Huh? Now I know nothing about prescriptions or chemistry, but I do know that sulfa and amox are no where near the same thing. So after arguing with her about the fact that I have taken amox and other like drugs, I eventually just give up on this lady. But I do notice, all the while, that she is picking up the gauze I am taking home with me with her bare un-​washed hands and putting it on an unsterile counter. Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want some dirty, germ-​y gauze in an open wound in my mouth…
So then the doctor comes in. He’s really really nice. He is very very knowledgeable and tells me everything he’s going to do. Informs me of aftercare and potential risks involved. Just a really great guy. The next issue I had was with the IV to give me the anesthesia. I told him upfront that it’s really, really hard to get the veins in my arms… That everytime I have given blood, etc, I end up getting poked and wiggled and with huge bruises. He says he never misses. Au contraire. After 10 minutes, tears in my eyes, and barely being able to sit still because it fricking hurts, he gives up on my right arm.
He looks at my left. I tell him it is a fruitless attempt; that that is an area that no doctor has ever even tried to hit because there are not blood vessels in my left arm. I don’t know how it gets blood to tell you the truth. He considers it for a few minutes and decides I am right. Then looks at my hands. Tells me I have great veins in my hands… Goes to get the left one. What do you know? He misses. 5 minutes of wiggling and me trying not to scream because it hurts… I am freaking out at this point, because I hate doctors, and they opt to give me laughing gas to get me to relax a little. Understandable as now I have had 2 sites, they are going on number 3 and my arms are bruising up and I am upset. the laughing gas didn’t really calm me down that much, but it did help. FINALLY, he gets the vein in my right hand. He said something along the way that really made me cringe. He asked one of the nurses «is this thing new?» Please tell me that you do not re-​use needles… Jesus.
So then I am out like a light. Vaguely remember pressure in my mouth. Wake up with a bunch of bloody gauze and cotton in my mouth. But came out of the anesthesia pretty easily. Went home. Ate pizza. Yep, I ate pizza and it was so good.
I gotta say, as awful as the staff was, becoming a human pin cushion went, and everything else. Dr. K. did an awesome job. The next day I had minimal pain. Everything is healing nicely. Yesterday my mouth hurt pretty badly, but a few magic pills and it was fine. My boyfriend was blown away by the fact I was up, walking, talking. No swelling hardly at all… We went out to lunch and everything. I mean the guy did a phenomenal job. Very talented, knowlegeable, and friendly. It’s a shame that his team was sub-​par…

Best oral surgeons EVER. Been coming here for awhile (yes I have bad teeth). Only had one minorly bad experience, but just got back from having a tooth pulled today and I couldn’t be happier. Dr. K is a very nice guy, and Dr. Pearlman is also. I have nothing bad to say about either docs. :)

Okay. I’m 17 days post op… and everything is healing nicely. I stopped taking a mortin around day 9. No problems… I’m eating like I never had a problem. Thanks Dr. K… good job.

Dr. Pearlman is the best! My girlfriend went in for 2 upper wisdom teeth removed today. She was about to be put under general when I left to wait in the lobby. Exactly 11 minutes later someone came in and told me «she’s done». 11 minutes? I thought there must be a mistake but no that is exactly how long the whole process took for her including waiting to go under. Wow is all I can say. When she woke up she was like «one second they were telling me I’d feel a pinch from the IV and a moment later, while I thought they were still PREPPING me, they told me «you’re all done — great job!» It was the best. Doc Pearlman was v kind and kept telling her she was doing great, doing great. And a minute later it was over.
Best of all she felt NO PAIN whatsoever.
Dr. Pearlman is very professional, has a great bedside manner, he has 38 years experience too, which makes you feel very confident. He has been at this same location in Oak Park 30 years. You don’t find that often. And our total without insurance was only 800 (including general). We have dental ins so we’re only paying like 200 out of pocket.
Since I’ve had crowns that cost me 1600 out of pocket with ins picking up the rest of the bill at Dr Margaret Mitchell, I can tell you that 800 for SURGERY with GENERAL felt like highway robbery. The office is not glamorous but these people KNOW what they are doing. Please see my review on Dr Margaret Mitchell if you want the exact opposite of a great dental experience!).
Pearlman rocks — highly highly recommended!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled here a few years ago. I decided that I wanted to get all of them pulled at once under general anesthesia. When I woke up my pants were unzipped and I was in the alley behind TGIFriday’s… But seriously, they did a great job and I recovered rather quickly.
