Service King Collision Repair of Oak Park

These guys are great! The staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful and willing to go above and beyond for the customer. They did an amazing job for very reasonable pricing. Their quality was top notch and they made my car look like new. I was really impressed over all. Ask for Armando! He was great :)

My brand new Honda Odyssey was hit in a CVS parking lot, my husband told me to have it towed to Service King in Oak Park and they would take care of everything. He couldn’t have been more right! After I told my insurance co. where my car was going they mentioned that they work directly with Service King Oak Park and not to worry my brand new car was in safe hands. The staff at Service King was exceptional. Sandy up front was so sweet and Javier, Tango & Armando and everyone else there was so wonderful. They made everything so easy, they had a rental car waiting for me and I was on my way in no time. Everyone who worked on my car did an awesome job. I can’t recommend Service King enough, it’s nice to know we have such a great place to bring our car if anything like this happens again.

Just picked up my Jeep, & they did a wonderful job! They kept in contact throughout the whole process, & it was a super quick process! Would use them again if anything popped up for sure!

My cars have been to Service King and Loro’s (prior ownership). I have only received professional service and the body work were excellent. While my dad who has a «friend» who can do the job for ²⁄₃ the cost, I won’t take the bait. Service King is my go to auto body shop.

I’ve frequented this business when it was LORO autoworks. As LORO, their work was excellent. And I notice some of the same people still work there. Since then under the Service King banner, I’ve had two repairs.
The last repair I think was notable. The car in question was a 2012 Honda Civic that was in an accident some time ago causing serious damage to the right rear body panel. This was a self pay job. I appropriately received an accurate estimate as I have in the past. I brought the car in, and was led to believe the car would be ready in one weeks time. Now this is where their business practice, deviated from the prior ownership. Service King sends out text messages, continually updating the customer as to the progress of the work. However, as I found out, the text messages are «automated» and have nothing to do with reality. For instance, I was texted that my car was on schedule to be ready on August 17^th (as originally promised). I received this text on August 14. When I called on August 14, inquiring about the car — to make arrangements to pick up the car — I was told it would not be ready until August 20. This is when I found out that the text messages have no basis in reality. I did complain and told them this is a bad business practice. None the less I chalked this up to the «bumps in the road» during the transition from one «smaller» business model to a corporate /​franchise model. Hopefully they will correct this annoying practice of sending misleading texts.
When I went to pick the car up, the very nice, and professional, friendly woman in the office explained what was done and directed me to where the car was. I was somewhat concerned that no representative from the «repair team» accompanied me to go over the repair work, as was the customary practice under the business’ previous banner. After my inspection, off I went.
Now to the real issue, where the «rubber meets the road» so to speak. How good was the repair? That after all is the crux of their business. In that respect, I thought the repair was excellent. The repaired sheet metal was perfect. The paint job equally so — perfect color and matching. Since I’ve had multiple cars repaired in the past, I think I am a fairly good «lay» judge of auto body repairs. So in this respect, Service King came through. Would I use their services again? Absolutely yes. I just hope that they iron out some of the «kinks» in their present practice model.

Work is okay but business practices seemed underhanded, repeatedly asking for more money from the insurance company. Then kept my car an extra week awaiting yet another supplement payment. When I realized it was only $ 60, just paid it so I could get my car back. Customer service has a lot of room for improvement.

I went to this place only because it is closest to my house. I was in a car accident and my car would not start back up. Thus, I’m thinking auto and body damage. I had to have my car towed and the insurance company covering the damages was going to be Universal Underwriters. The lady who answered the phone (very nice) said that she had not heard of that insurance company but that I could take my car there and they would look into it for me to see if they were a contracted autoshop or whatever. Universal is Zurich so it turns out they were. Long story short, They got my car in quickly and began working on it. This is the only reason I’ve given 2 stars instead of one.
When I went to pick up my car from Loro, one of the guys told me that I would also need a new motor mount. He then gave me the keys and expected me to drive off. Why couldn’t I just go ahead and get the new mount while I was there? He said he would email me an estimate for the mount. Ok. But i never even got the email.
The shop did my body work but didn’t even investigate any auto damage. When I picked up my car, I asked if they knew why it would not start after the wreck. Tango said he did not know. Meanwhile, as I get back in to my car, I’m noticing all of my warning lights are on. The battery light, the wrench, and the check engine light. Wtf? How is this safe for me to drive? They made no mention to me about the lights and said my car was ready to go.
(During this time loro sent me a survey. This was a private survey, not public, so I decided to fill it out honestly.)
I walked away feeling that loro wasn’t at all competent so I took my car then to BC Body Craft in Oak Park. They were able to address all of my warning lights. I also asked about replacing my motor mount which they checked and said that it was fine.
Then— a few weeks after my body repair, my bumper (which loro had replaced) was starting to fall off so I went back to loro and told one of the guys (Armando?). He immediately got confrontational with me and said «We got your survey that you rated us very poorly so thank you for that.» How unprofessional! He said my auto issues werent addressed because they werent related to my accident. How in the world would you know this without even checking the codes? (Hence Tango not knowing why my car wouldn’t start back up at the time of the accident.) And What was the point in the survey if I couldn’t be honest?! This is when I decided I would Unilocal them. I won’t be back unless the bumper starts to fall off again.
