Metra Metropolitan Rail Oak Park

I like this station. It shares a building with CTA Green Line and has a convenience store, a ticket sales window, a small seating area near the track and several covered standing areas. It also has nearby parking, wheelchair ramps and several entrance points. There are lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores within a 2 – 5 minute walk from the station too. As for the train itself, the seats are comfortable, the conductors are pleasant and the trains are usually clean so I prefer paying a little more to take this into the city over the Green Line/​EL.
I board the Union Pacific West Metra from this station at least 3 – 4 times a month and when I do, the morning trains are pretty much always on schedule and the other riders are a good group of people to share space with. Most appear to be business professionals and students heading into the city. The afternoon trains during peak hours are pretty much the same.
The ride from Oak Park to Ogilvie is 15 – 20 minutes. This is also a quicker option than CTA Green Line if going anywhere near Madison & Clinton. CTA makes a lot of stops.

The Oak Park metra station is shared with the Oak Park green line station. The station is not heated, and the ticket window is generally only open week days. The north platform is for inbound trains, and had both a ramp and two sets of stairs (ramp only from main station house). There is an indoor area on the north platform to keep warm and dry in weather, this room is not heated. The south platform is for outbound trains and has a ramp on the station side, stairs on the far side. The south platform does not have an enclosed area for bad weather.
There was a coffee/​convenience store in the main building lobby, but this has closed. There is an ATM and a police station.
