Dr. Gary Tapak(pronounced tay-pack), DDS, Oak Lawn, and his office staff(Chris, Reception; Sue, Dental Assistant; and others, whose names I am not as familiar with) in Oak Lawn, is highly recommended by me. Your comfort is key, here. Their hours are varied to accommodate most any schedule, and, I have noticed over the years they’re sometimes adjusted by an-hour on either end(e.g., open later, close later), so best you inquire to confirm. Dr. Tapak is exceptional at returning your call in case of a dental emergency, and works to expeditiously mitigate the matter, especially when pain is involved. From personal experience, the crowns he fabricates or has fabricated(i.e., the false-toothlike ‘cap’ that covers and is cemented to the ground-down problematic tooth), are so incredibly well-rendered with attention to detail for optimal performance(chewing, speaking), that it’s tough to discern between the crowns and my own teeth. I truly appreciate his perfectionism. Great calm demeanor and pleasant sense of humor, he makes time to address all concerns, explains his processes, answers questions,(although I am still unsure how he understands half of what is said when one is in the dental chair with mouth numbed and propped open. It must be a special language skill taught in dental school. lol). I recall, my first dental issue and the multiple visits it took to complete this one tooth with Dr. Tapak left me unimpressed and aggravated because of the back-and-forth appointments(not experienced with the previous north side dentist I had for several years). But, Dr. Tapak’s practice is fairly close, so when the next dental urgency occurred, I chose to give this office another shot. That was maybe nine or ten years ago. In that time, I have had a number of issues requiring attention, e.g., fillings, a root-canal, two-crown re-do’s – (yes, the ones ‘installed’ by the aforementioned north side dentist who didn’t take so long…(LESSONLEARNED). Hence, I was wise in making the decision to stay with Dr. Tapak’s practice, and see the difference in quality for my self. By the way, just that first tooth required the several-visits. Dr. Tapak’s dental practice has become«that Professional I would follow» should he relocate offices, because I am so satisfied with the excellent work and treatment by his office.

You are correct in your review. I worked for this dentist for over 3 years and he is everything you say he is. His work is excellent and he is a perfectionist in his work. His prices are very fair and he is a great dentist.

Fantastic. An absolute gem of a dentist. He understands time, quality, and patience. Does not charge you an arm and a leg for his services. He is calm, reassuring, confident and just overall the best dentist I have ever laid eyes upon. The office was chilly, temperature wise, but Dr. Tapak was so warm you forgot how chilled you were. LOL. Had two fillings and did not feel a thing. Not one once of pain, before, during and after. Additionally, he gave me his card, and said let me know if you are not happy with the filling, can get you in ASAP and correct any problem you may have. WOW! I would suggest anyone on the south side of Chicago, to go see this guy. He is worth the drive, and the cost.
