Not sure how this place has such low reviews. I’ve been to this carson’s a million times and can’t think of a terrible experience I’ve had here. It’s a little out of my price range but I’ll shop here if I have a good coupon.

Ask a women in the shoe department by the name of Darlene B what kind of heel is comfortable for me since I have a hard time with heels. She looked at me like I asked her how shoes are made. So she responded in a attitude«well what kind of shoe high or low» so at this point didn’t want her to help me and just asked«do you carry Nine West and if so where can I find it»? She pointed and I walked away. So then when I found the heels I wanted of course she was standing in front of me and I was hoping she wouldn’t be the person I would have to ask the heel for, Thankfully she wasn’t and it was a very nice young man that was very busy helping another 2 customers while Darlene stood by register with her mad face and complaining how she needed to go on lunch already. Felt so bad for the young man cause she literally just stood there watched him and acted like she was gonna go on lunch to not help. So another women wanted to be rung up and she had no choice at this point cause she obviously couldn’t say no. Rung up the women and still complained how she needed to go on lunch. Employees like that should not be hired. You lose customers that way. Couldn’t believe how unprofessional and rude she was.

What happened to this store?! I used to go here all the time to shop because it was close, had nice displays, friendly employees and it was easy to find things. I was here recently, and I could not believe how poorly organized this place is. I had to make a return in the infants department, which was a total disaster. Clothes all on wrong racks, thrown haphazardly wherever, and it just looked horrible. Three ladies kibitzing behind the counter about someone named«Pat» whomever that is. I will try to avoid going back here. This particular location is messy and for the prices they charge, they need to shape up or it is going to become another junk shop.

I read the other reviews and some complaints are legitimate. But there is one issue with this Carson’s that stands out — it’s customer service! They have the BEST management there. Have a request, complaint, special need? They will try their best to service you. This isn’t a store where you will find über trendy clothing and accessories — it’s Chicago Ridge — and I say that with respect — it’s working class, wholesome people. This is where people come before product. I really LOVE shopping here.

Poor service in most departments. The older generation associates don’t want to be bothered helping a customer and the younger associates just don’t care. Nobody knows where anything is and they(the sales associates) don’t have the slightest courtesy to ask someone else, like a manager. Either way, this CPS has horrible customer service. As far as the selection of merchandise, if you are looking for something on clearance you really have to dig deep. The intimates department: good luck finding anything! Don’t they ever clean/tidy up over there? The shoe department: you are better off going to another store, you will find a better deal.

Mammoth store. Poor selection in belts. Only business attire belts and no casual belts. Either that or the staff has no clue what they stock.

I went in looking for a new bra… I spent 30 minutes looking through about 3 million of them organized by some new system called Just Throw Them All Together On The Racks. I couldn’t find my size, which I admit is difficult to find, and when I asked for help, I was pointed in the general direction of the Calvin Klein bras which MIGHT have my size. I let myself into a fitting room and couldn’t even begin to decide if the bra fit because there was a huge sensor tag on the band. The salesperson took FOREVER to ring everyone up, even leaving from behind the register to apparently get a new ticket. No one knows what she actually did since she just walked away from the older lady she was checking out. The moderate brands of clothes were overpriced, the selection was horrible, and the service in the shoe department was non-existent. I’d rather spend my money in Macy’s and Nordstrom when I’m forced to shop in department stores.

For the price, I expect the store to look good. I expect the employees to be attentitive. And I expect the quality of the merchandise to be high. This Carson’s does not meet any of my expectations. I have problems with Carson Pirie Scott as a company in general, they gave me a merchandise credit/gift card and said I could use it online(because I hated the store so much) and it turns out they are the only department store on the planet that doesn’t allow giftcard purchases online and when I emailed them to complain about this, there wasn’t even a «We’re sorry you’ve been inconvenienced» or anything! Just a «that’s our policy.» letter. Way lame.

I haven’t shopped at Carson’s since I bought my junior prom dress there back in 96′. From the looks of this particular location, I don’t think I was missing much. Of course part of that was due to the fact that the store is under a massive reconstruction project. I was in here the other day to visit the Clinique counter, which were pretty makeshift because of the construction. The women behind the counter were just doing a wonderful job, with the noise and the cramped space they had to share with three other cosmetic brands. I took a quick look around the rest of the store, but it all seemed to be in mass confusion. Hopefully, it will all change around after the construction if finished.
