I have been shopping at this Jewel for years. This is a wonderful store with great employees. The deli and the bakery has helped me out at the last minute many times preparing sandwich trays and pastries. The bread and rolls which they bake there are out of this world. They are always helpful and very pleasant. The produce is always fresh and the employees are friendly and always ask if they can help you find anything. The store is always well stocked and clean. I love this store!

Unlike the other reviews, I always have an issue with the employees attitudes at this location. Maybe I have been spoiled with my favorite jewel in the city and their attitudes but Oak Forest Jewel has to be thee worst in my experience. My latest compliant being that they like to lock the doors 10/15mins prior to closing which is unacceptable. I had to run to the store for medicine. I arrived at 11:49pm. I walked to both doors to find them both locked; I then called the store and had the employees let me in. I walked in at 11:55pm and walked out at 11:58pm. I don’t think it’s necessary for them to close the doors that early and have me go thru the hassle of calling the store to be let in. I respect the hours store close and if employees don’t want to work the hours the store is open, I don’t think they should be working. I also worked retail for 4yrs so I know you get tired at the end of the shift but still super unacceptable to lock the doors early.

Split review here too. For the most part, its a decent Jewel. Service is great, the staff is friendly, I’m in and out fairly quickly. But the prices are ridiculous. And half the time they don’t have something I’m looking for, or regularly get. More chicken breasts! Almost every time I go I have to choose between tenderloins and thin breasts. Who doesn’t want more breasts? ;) I just think they need to stock their shelves better.

The employees at this location are the MOST helpful that I’ve encountered at any grocery chain. Super friendly, never bothered with all of us shoppers approaching them with our questions. Loved the Wish Big/Win Big game. Their liquor department has great prices for a grocery store. And the fact that it is walking distance from my home doesn’t hurt. Wish is was a 24 hour Jewel though, I’m a night owl.

You know what’s just groovy about this Jewel? The people who occupy it. You know what’s NOT so great about Jewel? The damn prices. Good God. I have such a split view, it’s not even funny. What can I say, they have all those yummy, delicious, fattening, products that Trader Joes doesn’t have. When I go there and see the prices, I then remember why I shop at Trader Joes in the first place. I happen to have a riveting experience almost every time I am in the walls of this particular Jewel. There is even another employee named Tessa, which we make a big deal about each time we are within the same vicinity of one another. I tend to have marvelous chats with people in the checkout line or while waiting for my meat to be sliced at the deli counter. I’m telling you, this Jewel brings in good people. I think the produce has always been good, but just very expensive. I can’t even believe how much certain items are sometimes, but like I said, they have certain items that others simply don’t carry. This Jewel is clean as ever, too. You will likely be pleased with your visit, just not with your bill.

Well, since I’m the duchess(at least for now) and all that, I figured a review wouldn’t be a terrible thing to offer up. What can I say? It’s a Jewel, centrally located to my home. It’s rather pricey(aren’t all Jewels, though?) and rather run of the mill. They’ve beefed up their«natural foods» section over the past few years, so that’s a nice element, but overall… it’s a Jewel. Service is very hit or miss; some employees seem to love their jobs while others are clearly ticking away the minutes until«go time» in their heads. The store is always very clean – including the bathrooms(and with three small children, that’s a DEFINITE plus). Not a bad place to shop in a pinch, but I’d rather hit up Trader Joe’s if possible.

This is definitely the nicest grocery store in the area. The employees are nice and always say hello to you. It’s sad that friendly employees are the exception these days. It’s something as simple as that which makes a difference in your shopping experience. The setup in this store is really nice too. It’s clean and well stocked. As I was leaving, I noticed the manager was up helping to bag groceries and greet the customers. Now that is not something you see everyday. It’s nice to see managers help out with the little jobs.
