Data Pest Control

This company did not accomplish the job.
They used only bait in an attempt to solve the problem. Despite weeks of assurances from the company that they’d solve the problem and «let’s just give it a bit more time,» I was still finding droppings in my pantry — which had been emptied of food for weeks. Well clearly the bait wasn’t working because one night I could actually hear them scratching around in my living room. I ended up killing three of them with some effort and a boot.
After calling and relaying my story to the receptionist, including the part where I saw a mouse IN MY OVEN, she was very calm and flippant and «sometimes they do that…»
I got the company out one last time — again, they only put out bait. I got frustrated and decided to take matters into my own hands and set traps — within 12 hours I caught another couple mice.
After almost two weeks of all-​quiet, I again find evidence of mice in my home.
This company has failed.
They had one job.
And they failed.
Listen to the other reviewers, do not hire this company.

When I called the first time, Al came out two days later but took care of the mice in my yard. This was two summers ago.
This time, they made it into the house and were making a mess out of my cabinets.
I caught 16 and then said, «Ok, time to call pest control.» I had to BEG them to come out asap. I knew I had a mice infestation and I have NEVER lived in a house with mice.
Well, Al shows up, and left bait for mice in the garage and under my cabinet. He would not climb into attic because he did not «see any mice“and threw some bait into the attic. That same evening, I heard scratching in the walls in my bedroom and in the ceiling. OMG, I was freaking out! Called Al H, left a begging message to come out ASAP. Two days later, no response to my calls.
I got on the internet and called «Guaranteed Pest Control» and they arrived within 2 hours and found infestation IN THE ATTIC and the mice did not take the bait!!!
This company is fraudulent and Al is not qualified to do this so do not hire this company. I actually caught 16 mice myself with Decon traps but then figured it was beyond what I could do!
Now, I have to spend a freaking fortune to:
1) clean out closets and cabinets from mouse poop, I already threw out the boxes and any food products affected.
2) This company will disinfect and clean everything.
3)Then, they will climb into the attic (which Data Pest Control did NOT do), clean and wash and sweep up all the dead mice and poop, and clean out all the insulation and replace any insulation that was wrecked. AND they will fill in any outside holes that the mice can get into the attic! AND IT IS GUARANTEED AND THEY WILL COME BACK IF YOU CALL. THANK YOU GUARANTEED MICE CONTROL!!!
DO NOT CALL DATA PEST CONTROL BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. JUST A BAND AIDE APPROACH. I ALSO INVESTED $ 300, TOO. CROOKS!

I utilized the services of this company for a pest inspection and I utilized an affiliated/​sister company of theirs, Secure Home Inspections, for a home inspection in December 2011 for a property I put a contract on. Needless to say the service I was provided seemed great at first but after further inspection by someone else, it lead me not purchase the property. There were things that were pointed out to me by a contractor that were not mentioned by the inspector of Data Pest Control, David Hotwagner, and I was told that this person can do both pest and home inspections. The things that were pointed out would have been helpful back in December because I would have backed out the deal right then but now not only am I out the money from the inspection, I also have lost my earnest money on the home because these things were not noticed until my final walk through of the property. Even before it got to this point, I contacted for David that same day he came out just to get an overall assessment of the property from his perspective and he never returned my phone call after I left a message for him. I guess once he got paid there was no need to follow-​up with a customer. Further, as previously stated, David performed the pest inspection but I could not find him licensed as pest inspector on the Illinois Department of Financial Regulation website nor the person that signed off on the inspection, Albert Hotwagner.
I would not recommend this company or people ever to anyone as they do not know what they are doing and I plan on writing to the better business bureau and the Illinois Department of Financial Regulation with respect to the service I recieved.

I am the type of supremely girly girl who FLIPS out over the sight of an ant in the house. By the time ant number seven sauntered in over the course of a week, I decided those suckers had to go. NOW.
That said, we had used Orkin in the past. Not impressed. We signed a ridiculously long, tedious contract and even still… there was the renegade bug (or five) now and again. Ugh. So gross.
This time around, the husband and I decided to go a different route. We called Data Pest Control and were able to secure a next day appointment. Steve (at least I think his name was Steve!), the exterminator, came to the house and was, in short, fantastic. He explained everything in the greatest of detail and was so thorough in his work – no corner cutting in the least. He told us to give it thirty days, but I swear to you that I haven’t seen a single bug since the moment he left. He told us that if we still had any bit of a problem after the 30 days was over, he would come back and spray (complimentary). Excellent service! He was great! No contracts, no hidden agenda sales pitches, just complete, detailed work at a VERY reasonable cost. While I hope the need for pest control never arises again, I can say with utmost certainty that we will never call another exterminator. Data Pest Control rocks. :)
