Went there as part of a Friendship Force tour to learn more about other cultures. They have cubicles in which to place your shoes and a box of scarves to use for covering hair. Men and women cover their heads. They took us downstairs for a typical Punjab snack. Then we toured the kitchen and saw the women making lunch. They chant prayers as the make a flat bread. The chant is to add healing quality to the food. We saw a video explaining the religion and got a small booklet giving even more info. It is the 5th largest religion in the world. which shows how little i know. It requires members to help others so he said, «If you need help, seek a Sikh.» We joined them for a service in which women sit on the floor on the right and men on the left. We were able to sit on side benches. Then it was downstairs to eat lunch. Men pass out the food. Again, they sat on the floor. This is because they want all to be equal. Kings or peasants all sit on floor but we sat at a table because if i got down it would take a crane to get me back up. Food was good and not spicy as i expected. The people were so nice and thanked us for coming when we were the ones who were grateful for their hospitality. It was time well spent.
