The Hyatt Lodge at Mcdonalds Campus

I loved my stay at the Hyatt! It’s a small hotel with only 2 – 3 floors, but still feels upscale and homey. McDonald’s art covers the walls of the hallway, and the rooms are wonderful with the spacious shower and huge soft king sized beds.
We had breakfast included with our room, so we got to order any entrée and drink from the Water’s Edge restaurant downstairs free of charge. Would definitely stay here again!

Hyatt Lodge is a luxurious getaway nestled in the bustling suburbs. The view from our hotel room overlooked a shady, forest-​like area. You would never know Oak Brook’s shopping hub was only a stone’s throw. When entering the parking lot, if you follow the signs, it’s easy to find.
The $ 12/​day for valet is not worth it, unless you have mobility issues. The parking lot (I never saw it, my husband dropped me off at the entrance) appears to be down a hill, with no clear or convenient pathway. I suppose that adds to the «lodge» feel of this place, but we’re both able to move about. Rooms aren’t cheap, but they aren’t overly expensive either. I failed to book in time with the wedding party and paid around $ 170/​night for a room. I’m a bit of a cheapskate with hotels, looking for good deals on Hotwire or Priceline, but it seems getting a «deal» at this place is near impossible. So that’s why I cringed at the $ 12 valet.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. They aren’t overly fancy, but the pricetag left me wanting more of something.
We attended a wedding here, and the room set-​up was gorgeous. The room was all windows on one side (although this was painful for some guests around sunset). The bar was set up just outside the room, and the bartenders and wait staff during dinner were great at handling the crowd. The walk to the bathroom was long though, and the cocktail hour area was extremely crowded and uncomfortable.
The food was really good; the passed appetizers during cocktail hour weren’t predictable, and honestly I was too drunk to remember what we ate for dinner.
This is a really nice venue, the hotel is nice, I wouldn’t mind attending another soirée here.

We returned here again for our work Christmas party, and this year was totally a bust! We had the same apps as below, which were plentiful and hot. Cocktail hour was not an issue.
After the hour, the room opened up for dinner seating… except there weren’t many seats. Our office required us to RSVP as to how many would be there, so I don’t understand why there was so little seating. Tables were set up for 5 people, and there were huge holes were more tables could’ve been. Eventually, the staff brought out two larger tables, but so many people were left standing that once they saw a table be assembled, they flocked to it. AKA, I was forced to stand the entire time. This is tricky when it comes to eating! They had stand up style tables, but the whole table shook while I tried to cut the meat, and I lost a few pieces of food.
The dinner itself had good food– prime rib, whipped potatoes, salad, and two kinds of paella. I enjoyed all of this. At the end of dinner, I was thirsty– no one offered any pitchers of water to us! So I was ready to hit the coffee table, except there was no cups. A coworker asked for more, and those got snatched up too before I could get one. I was about ready to walk out at this time, but finally got a mug. Their coffee was great, and the homemade marshmallows were awesome! (Marshmallows and coffee? GREAT IDEA!)
Overall, I wasn’t thrilled with the service here, and I feel like they could’ve been prepared, since we had to give them a number of guests expected. I would rethink coming back to the party next year, unfortunately!

Ok, it was a little strange passing Hamburger university on the way in and all the Mcdonalds art through out the hotel. Not the business traveler hotel. Remote, quiet, beautiful area on a lake. Fantastic food. Outstanding gym with trainers and classes. Tip, valet the car and avoid the parking lot one block away with stairs in the dark.

What an awful experience! I’m still sort of shocked at how this hotel handled things! Disgusted as well. Checked in a little late only to be told they oversold the hotel and they put me in, what appeared to be a room they threw together with and odds and end table and a pull out couch bed!!! Seriously! I booked a king suite. When I stayed my concern, after dialing from my cell because the room phone did not work, they said, sorry can’t help you. Booked thru a 3^rd party (Priceline). No refunds, no credits but hey, we’ll give you breakfast from the buffet! Unbelievable! I have friends in the area and I could have slept on their sofa and saved myself over $ 200!!! I’m still seething AND I’m stuck her for two more nights. Run, run away! Oh I have to add this last thing! In the moving of my items as I did get my room changed finally (like night and day). Regardless of what they tried to convince me if… they list my very expensive flat iron! After 3 professional toned attempted to have them find it (which they said they didn’t have) I finally got a little hostile. They said they’d check again and 10 minutes later, miraculously there was a knock at my door WITH the flat iron and a weak «sorry about that!» This place really is the Pitts! Shame on you Hyatt and McDonalds! Your service is sorely lacking!

I was there for a wedding this past weekend, and it was absolutely delightful. The venue, as other reviewers point out, is quiet and serene, in the middle of some woods and built around a pond full of geese and the occasional swan. The only complaint about it as a venue is that during the ceremony, a security car whizzed by with the sirens on (like, 100ft away, but still bothering); they must have been hit on the tail of the hamburglar or something. Beyond that, lovely place for an outdoor wedding.
There was a cocktail reception outdoors on the hotel, uh, patio I suppose I’d call it, but it was a bit chilly so the cocktail party was mostly inside – honestly I was a little surprised there were no heat lamps. The appetizers were varied and numerous, and all were delicious (huge scallops! Some sort of brie and raspberry stuffed croissant! Beef wellington minis! Also more).
The dinner was teriffic. Several courses, I suppose I would have liked variety rolls instead of black bread, but minor detail. They even had lemon gelato apertifs that were great. Entrees, I had the chicken, my +1 requested vegetarian and got a mushroom pasta, both were very good. Other guests had what appeared to be giant cuts of prime rib; anyone I asked said there’s was good. Dessert was nice but the ice cream weirdly tasted of McDonald’s milkshakes, go figure.
The hotel room was very comfortable. Bed and pillows were IMHO waay better than standard hotel faire, but the shower was definitely done on the cheap, unfortunately. Room was quiet, but who is there to make noise but other hotel guests? Whole complex is isolated from busy streets by a forest.
Oh and the end of the night? They brought out trays of McDonald’s cheesburgers. Nice touch.
Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt – it was clearly an expensive wedding that I attended, so others experiences may vary with the cost of the event they are attending. Base line quality though of events there is probably pretty good.

Attended a wedding last weekend. The food was so bad that I felt compelled to explain. The soup was like cold tomato dish water. I couldn’t even eat the poppy seed dressing on the salad, it was just bad tasting. When the Prime Rib came to the table plated, all of the meat on each plate was dark brown and overcooked. I asked the server if I could get one a bit less cooked. He didn’t speak english, just smiled and said ‘no mas’. I couldn’t cut it with the only knife I had, a butter knife! The meat was obviously all cooked that morning. I was so hungry at the end of the meal, I started thinking that a McDonald’s hamburger would have been better! They have no business cooking food there!

The property that this hotel sits on is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and serene. If you are looking for a «staycay» or just to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a welcomed retreat. The rooms are a nice size and its in a perfect area if you want to shop or just relax as there are dining options and a bar in the hotel.

Rooms are decent, but we got booked into a handicap/​disabled access room. Normally this is a great thing as the walkway to the bed is a little bit larger, not the case hear…, but the real disappointment was the bathroom.
We took a shower on arrival, 10 minutes each, for 2 people. The shower has no lip/​edge to keep water in. There are two drains, but it did nothing to contain the water. I joked it was the most stressful shower I ever took as every couple seconds I would try to push the water back into the shower are with my foot.
In addition to this the shower temp was highly inconsistent, cycling between boiling and lukewarm. After my shower the water had a small river to the sink (mid bathroom), and after my husbands it surrounded the toilet (far opposite wall). My husband was making bad jokes about not being about to lower your pants to use the toilet.
So on our way to dinner, we ask to have it mopped, the front desk was very friendly & helpful, but when we came back we still had a small river by the toilet & they took all of our towels. Like we are no longer allowed to use the shower!
Otherwise the campus is nice if not a bit dated, wood pulling off in some common areas. Very nice scenery but some classes lock the visitors out of the pool and workout areas (husband said they closed the pool door in front of him without explanation when he said he was not in the current class).
Nice property but would probably go somewhere else in the future, so many other options to try when this is your first impression.

Love this hotel. Beautiful surroundings with lots of nice hiking and walking trails. I was here in the summer and learned that you can rent bikes from the front desk to ride around the area as well. Beautiful lakes & woods and if you’re lucky even a deer. Currently I’m here in the winter and it’s just as beautiful unfortunately all the trails are snowed over. Rooms are newly remodeled and staff is super friendly. I wish the gym had longer hours & it was open till midnight so that I could fit in a workout after the business meetings. Nice there’s a restaurant and bar on the property and again super friendly staff and clean rooms.

My wife, daughter, and I got a room here on a Saturday evening for a «staycation» from the city. My wife snickered when I told her I had booked the «McDonalds Hyatt» asking if we would be eating quarter pounders all weekend, but it’s not quite like that here. :)
I had been here a few years ago for a business meeting and remembered the warmth and beauty of the grounds and hotel as a modern take on a lodge. My main attraction for booking was the pool, which did indeed provide my 2 year old daughter multiple hours of excitement, but hanging out in the expansive lobby and sunken seating area by the bar was also a pleasure.
Check in was a breeze, the staff were very helpful throughout, even comping us a couple hot chocolates as we sat by the fire. Rooms are sizable and well appointed and self parking is free. We will definitely come out here again in warmer months when we can do some more walking on the paths and even my skeptical wife walked away impressed.

We had our wedding reception here on June 21^st and I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out. We are still getting compliments on the food and the venue from our guests.
Working with Leslie and Sigita was such a pleasure. They were always there to answer my questions or give us suggestions on things. They were so helpful and made the planning process such a breeze.
The days leading up to the wedding I was a basket case (as many brides are) but I knew I did not have to worry about anything when I handed everything over to Leslie and Sigita.
When I walked into the Grand Oaks Pavilion before our reception I was blown away. It was BEAUTIFUL! The lighting, tables, everything. It was exactly what my husband and I wanted for our reception. And the grounds of the Lodge are beautiful also. My husband and I and our bridal party took all of our photos there. When it was all filled in with the trees and the flowers, it looked amazing.
I can’t say enough about the Hyatt staff either. First, one of the servers was following us around with champagne and a tray of hors d’oeuvres when we were taking our photos during the cocktail reception. Amazing. We were STARVING. Our Captain was the most amazing person in the world. At the end of the night when we just wanted to crash, she was carting things up to our room and saving dessert trays for us to take the next day. She went above and beyond her call of duty for us and did it with the best attitude in the world. We cannot thank her enough for all of her help.
The food was also amazing. We got compliments on it all night. The service went great also and the cheeseburgers in paradise were a huge hit with the milkshake shooters. Bonus: not many brides and grooms get to actually eat their dinner at their reception because of mingling, photos etc. The amazing staff at the Hyatt saved plates for my husband and I to eat when we had a minute. While everyone was dancing, we had our prime rib dinner, just the two of us. I was so happy they did that because again, we were so hungry!
I am so happy we chose to work with the Hyatt for our wedding reception. It was exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a space and the staff went above and beyond our expectations and just blew us away. We cannot thank them enough for making our wedding day so special.
If you are looking for a reception hall, the Hyatt Lodge is your place and Leslie and Sigita are your girls.

I stayed at the Hyatt Lodge at McDonald’s campus for 3 night on a recent trip to Oak Brook, IL for leadership training. Disclaimer: I don’t work for McDonald’s, lol. I work in higher education.
Our training team booked this hotel for the event. I have to say this is a very nice property. The price was very reasonable. Apparently it is also McDonald’s headquarters so their offices and everything else is here too.
The property is very big and scenic. There is a lake, bike trail, and etc. Our hotel room is spacious. I really liked the double sink and separate shower as I had to share the room with a colleague. It was very convenient when we were getting ready in the morning. We also got a small balcony overlooking the woods, good view! The conference rooms were pretty decent too.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was quite happy with them. I didn’t get to use the gym but heard it wasn’t free. Odd. However, it is free for Hyatt reward members. They also have a restaurant and a bar which I didn’t get to use. The bar was very loud b/​c lots of ppl were watching basketball there.
My only gripe is that I didn’t get to ride their bike trails. It is stated on the website that you can rent bikes for free to ride the trail. However, I was told at the front desk that the bike rental was seasonal so there wasn’t any bike to be checked out. But that was not mentioned on their website at all. I was actually pretty excited about riding the bike there. Bummer!
The location is good for retreat and meetings as it is very quiet and peaceful. They also have a complimentary van to drive you around to local restaurants and businesses. However, it is far from the city which is about 45 mins away with no traffic. So it was a bit problematic to go to downtown Chicago for fun. But then again, we needed to concentrate and not to be distracted. So it all worked out! I’d probably stay here again if I’m in this area again.

We had our wedding here in late June and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to get married.
We were in the Grand Oaks Pavillion ballroom which was absolutely beautiful during the summer. The food was exceptional and the staff was extremely friendly as well as professional.
I worked mainly with Sigita and Leslie and both were a pleasure to work with. I couldn’t be happier with my experience there.

Exceptional stay. I was here for a gal pal reunion, and we were treated well. I stayed on the eve of the 3^rd of July and saw a fabulous fireworks display from their terrace. Gorgeous terrace, overlooked a lake.
The best part of the Lodge was their service. Dave at the welcome/​concierge desk treated our party like the goddesses we are. This goddess and her fellow goddesses will be back!

$ 10.95/day for wifi in 2013 is just sad. What an absolute scam.
That being said, the staff was friendly. The rooms were nice. It seemed like they were trying to get an upscale, trendy design across, but had a 15 year old design it.
The bathrooms were nice, but a little cramped for space. The shower was great, just like any other Hyatt.
The pictures in the hallways are of course, McDonalds themed. Has anyone ever taken a look at some of the «art» though? More than a few of the pictures are of Ronald McDonald hugging children and there are far too many inappropriate poses, especially for a creeper clown dressed weirdo. Wow, I literally just got shivers thinking of how wretched some of those pictures looked.
Overall, pretty nice high quality place, but the wifi and the pedo-​clown art are big failures in my book. If you think I’m making this up, walk the halls and take a closer look at the «art».

I wish I could give the Hyatt Lodge a 5 star review because of the awesome maple bacon I had during my meeting but I wasn’t happy with some of their other dining options. Anyways the bacon was thick, crispy and glazed with maple syrup. If you’re planning a meeting, you should definitely order their maple bacon. I put a couple on my plate and snacked on it while watching power point presentations. :D

— Try to avoid eating at the PIAZZA Restaurant. My coworkers and I weren’t happy with our meals. The calamari wasn’t crispy. I ordered the cannelloni with lobster and was expecting some lobster pieces, but instead I bit into some sort of paste filling. Very disappointing considering how much the plate was. My coworker returned her salad and the gentlemen across from me wasn’t happy with his either.
Overall great hotel and I would stay at the Hyatt Lodge on my next visit to Oakbrook, IL.

I stayed here for my Hamburger University class a week ago. Other than a few frustrations my stay was great. The rooms are spacious, atmosphere was welcoming, the setting around the lodge was gorgeous, the bar had some great specials, & the service in the ballroom for the banquet was great.
A couple frustrations were that there are no microwaves in the rooms. You have to go to the 2^nd floor if you want to use a microwave. Very inconvenient. Also one of their elevators was down at the beginning of the week, & once it was «fixed» it broke down mid floor with 2 of my companions in it, who were trapped for 45 minutes. Lastly, the Waters Edge café had some specials on some food for the HU students, but when charged to your debit card would charge the full price, different from the receipts. Ridiculous.

Went to a wedding here on Friday and stayed over night. Very pretty outside, delicious food, but there’s a reason for the the three stars to be careful of.
The hotel is beautiful outside where they had the wedding cocktail hour with appetizers outside by the lake. It was really nice and we took a lot of pictures. Beware in your heels though, as the floor is made of uneven stones/​rocks and is treacherous for heels. However, the great view was worth the risk of falling. The bartenders that were outside for cocktail hour and inside the actual banquet area for the wedding were fantastic, serving good drinks with winning personalities.
The food, including little spanikopitas, chicken and cheese puffs and mini beef sandwich type things for appetizers; chicken, asparagus and risotto for dinner.
So they did pretty good at the Hyatt Lodge, just two things that I thought were pretty bad. Thank goodness for the amazing wedding and pretty view to distract me from these two odd occurrences.
1) We checked in between the church and reception and there were plenty people behind us in line to check in. We get in our room and I’m wondering why there is no mirror other than in the bathroom and there is no full length mirror, come on all woman and most men need a full length mirror. Then in the bathroom I see that there is not tub in the shower and no doors on the shower. hmmm OH, now I get it, we are in the handicap accessible room. I just wish the person that checked us in would have given us the heads up. Also, aren’t you only supposed to use those rooms for people that need a handicap accessible room? We weren’t last to check in!
2) Terrible service at the bar downstairs. Three bartenders and me and my boyfriend waited for 17 minutes to get a drink and we were not addressed once by anyone. We stood there with no drinks in front of us and the b/​f holding his credit card for SEVENTEEN minutes. No, it was not a full bar or crowded. Finally, after 17 minutes, the female bartender acknowledged us and said she would be right with us. Was she right with us? No, she then went to another two guys that had just walked up and served them… hm, did I not look rich enough for you or like I wasn’t going to give a good enough tip? People came the bar were served and walked away all in the time that we sat there, dying of thirst for some alcohol. Needless to say, we walked away empty handed after 19 minutes. And yes, I started timing it after it had been there about 5 minutes and we had not been acknowledged once.

This past weekend I was invited to a wedding at «Hamburger University.» I had no idea what this meant other than it had something to do with McDonalds, but, hey, I’ve been to some pretty crazy weddings in my day. What’s one more, right? It turns out the reception was held at the Hyatt Lodge, which apparently has existed right under my nose for decades without me having any clue. (This isn’t exactly a new phenomenon.)
Getting there is a little confusing, as there really isn’t any signage to speak of. Once you enter the McDonalds corporate campus, just keep going. You’ll feel like you’re lost, and your car’s GPS won’t know what’s going on, but soon enough you’ll get to a sign simply marked «The Lodge.» They have valet parking, but as soon as you dump off your bags you can also go park your car yourself across the street if you want to save ~$ 10.
Anyway, the Hyatt Lodge is a very strange place. First off, it’s ridiculously nice. I’m not sure why I found this to be so surprising, I guess maybe because you don’t mentally equate the McDonalds brand with any form of luxury and McDonalds logos are –EVERYWHERE-​. But, whatever. The front desk staff were amazingly helpful, our room was fantastic, and the actual banquet hall that the wedding reception was held in was perfect.
We were in the Grand Oaks Ballroom– All of the walls of this room (save the doors you walk in through) are glass, and it feels like you’re just sitting in the surrounding forest. It was super cool. The wait staff they had manning the banquet stuff were great, the food was awesome, and the old guys they had serving drinks at the makeshift bars were hilarious.
If being absolutely permeated with McDonalds (every painting on the walls are even McDonalds themed) doesn’t bother you, you’ve got to check out the Hyatt Lodge. It seems like other Unilocalers are docking stars for the McDonalds-​ness of the place, but, after staying there I almost feel like I cheated my way into some super-​secret McDonalds executive tree house, which, honestly, is a pretty neat vibe.
