Access Media 3

Still absolutely dreadful. I am missing channels and cannot get the service to correct it. My apartment complex has a contract with this horrendously bad provider. Beware if you move into any property that has ACCESS MEDIA 3. I cannot believe the terrible service I am forced to pay for by this incredibly substandard provider.

Update: It’s 2016, and they’re still crap.
Nowhere near the throughput you are paying for, repeated «dispatches» with nothing fruitful coming of it. They oversubscribe their network excessively and it cannot handle traffic under any sort of load. I had been in a year long communication with one of their senior managers. They even came out and did «improvements» to our location, which did little to improve things. I gave up on that back and forth, it was too much of a hassle to have to babysit and prod the ISP that I was paying so much money to each month. Consistent, dependable packet loss is my only constant.
My apartment complex is under contract with them until 2017. If I have not moved by then I will do everything in my power to ensure the building management makes an educated decision and kicks this provider out.

Cancelled my service on ¹²⁄₃₁ because I was moving and the man on the phone was super pleasant and said it was all taken care of. I asked if I needed to return the boxes (which were in my trunk from the move) and he took a second (looking at my records I guess) and told me no. So I threw them away.
On ¹⁄₂₆ I get charged for a sports package I got in November (which the man on the phone when I ordered it promised me it would be canceled the following month per my wishes) and call to ask why I am getting charged for it when I don’t even have service from them any longer. THEY NEVER CANCELED MY MEMBERSHIP. Then asked me to return the boxes, which have been in a dumpster since the first week of January– but no worries cause they were willing to prorate the month of January? I told him to look up the call (since they record them) and surprise surprise they couldn’t find it. They told me there is no way I called. I said I may have been transferred to them from calling Dish and the guy had the AUDACITY to lie to me and say «Dish doesn’t transferrer to us sorry» –Byron Mitchell. This is complete bullshit because nearly EVERY time I ever had to contact them about their shitty service, I called via Dish.
AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. It was free with my apartment complex and it STILL wasn’t worth it. Calling them later today to discuss with someone who wont lie to me about the way the company works. DON’T USE THE WEB CHAT

Too bad you can’t put less than one star. I have been living in the AM3 hell for a few years now. I pay for the 10mbps plan (higher is not available in our neighborhood) but only get about 2 – 2.5 usually. Netflix and streaming is pretty horrible. I have to deal with several pauses in anything that I watch. I can’t wait till our neighborhood is out of this contract. Run from this service and if you are buying a new home (MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT THE EXCLUSIVE PROVIDER OF INTERNET/​TV and phone). Because if they are, you are stuck with a terrible service.

Let me make it straight.
When my supposed speed was 10Mbps, I often got 1~3Mbps.
I called Customer Service several times. The speed would be back to ok for a few days and then went down to hell. Eventually I got tired of calling and not getting what I paid for, I downgraded it to 5Mps.
Worse is coming. When my plan is 5Mbps, I often get less than 1Mbps.
You get the idea. Go ahead if you really want to try it.

Don’t move into a high rise with this service. HORRIBLE. They make Comcast customer service look like a trip to Disneyland.

Scheduled an appointment between 2 – 6 and ask for a 30 min call, and if we could close to the last appointment for the day. The rep told me yes all set.
I received a call at 10:45am telling me that he’s on the way. Told him about the 2 – 6 window and the installer told me that he could not do that time and he will not sit around that long. He told me that they don’t really do installs after 4:30. I told him that’s not true and his time was to early. His response was sorry it’s not going to get done today.
I called to complain about the installer attitude and no one tried to fix the problem all they did was ask me to reschedule for the next day.

Reporting them to the BBB no idea how they are in business!!! They said they were coming to my house something was wrong with our cable connection and never came. Few days later said they’d call me back to see if someone can come and fix it that day they never called me back then I got a call saying «im at your door» with no eta seriously!!! Like people just sit at home all dAy on a Monday. I told the guy to wait 15mins for me he left and ignored my calls. I called back to complain the operator said she will see if someone can come back as it was still early in the day and again never called me back, after calling a third time the guy was super rude and disrespectful over the phone. The complex I live in is contracted with them they are unprofessional and I’m hoping they go out of business seriously. DO NOT USE THEM.

I debated whether or not I wanted to waste my time writing a review for these people, but I feel like I need to warn people moving into an apartment/​condo… Make sure you ask the location you are moving into if Access Media 3 is the ISP, and if it is. RUN as fast as you can. We would have never signed our lease had we known the issues we were going to have with these people.
There are words to describe the anger I have for this company. I get less than 1 Mbps of sped, when I am paying for the second highest package. (Which for cheaper with Comcast, I would get approximately SEVEN times the speed). The only answer I have gotten from Customer Service is, «you bring up some valid frustrations, know that we are working on fixing these problems.)… REALLY!!! You are ripping people off and that’s the best answer you can give? Ridiculous.

As crooked as they come! Just try to believe this:
They took over my high rise’s middle-​man servicing of Dish Network when they bought out the previous company, and immediately sent me a bill for hundreds of dollars. I called to ask why and they said it was because they added an extra $ 10 service fee for the Italian channels beyond my building’s free channels, Italian channels I had already been paid for. But they said they retroactively BACK DATED this extra fee upon purchasing the old company, for TWO YEARS!
I had never heard of such an outrageous thing, back-​dating of pricing I never agreed to, for services I had from another company, for years. The employee admitted they did it to everyone in the building just to see who would pay. Eventually after a lot of fighting they removed all the charges and I ceased all extra programming I had to pay for once I paid for a couple months I had the Italian channels during the dispute. Zero balance.
But then two years later I see on my credit report that they sold a $ 20 charge of mine to a COLLECTION AGENCY!!! $ 20 they never even told me about when I called them to change apartments over the years. After I had confirmed a zero balance!
I called and they said that they added fees to the free services I got through my building. Sorry but I pay for those in my rent. Can you believe these guys?

Access Media 3 is one of the most dysfunctional companies I have ever dealt with. Unlike some other reviewers, I wasn’t baited into anything by AM3, so I can’t speak to their marketing practices. I rent an apartment in a managed building, and unfortunately, AM3 provides our internet and tv services. When I first moved into my building, our tv and internet were provided by MDU Communications, a small and terrible company that AM3 acquired soon after I moved in. As bad as that company was, AM3 is even worse. Over the last few years, I’ve had a handful of issues with AM3, and every single one was a pain to deal with. I won’t get into personal stories, but you can find stories that are similar to mine in the more than 200+ other AM3 reviews.
If you are making a personal decision on who to provide your tv and internet, pay more and get RCN or Comcast. Not only will you likely get faster internet with either of those companies, but you’ll hopefully get a more reliable infrastructure, and have access to employees that know how to deal with their infrastructure when things aren’t working.
Now, if you are one of the individuals responsible for my building having a relationship with MDU Communications, and now AM3, one or more of the following things happened:
1. You made a decision solely based on price (if MDU Communications was the least expensive in terms of dollars/​month).
2. You had some personal financial incentive to work with MDU Communications.
3. You are absolutely terrible at evaluating vendors and making good decisions.
Regardless of which of the above happened, myself and hundreds more now have to deal with Access Media 3, an organization that is so annoying to deal with that it shouldn’t be called a company. It’s more like a group of mediocre individuals, fenced in and roaming around together, and on rare occasion, they bump into each other and something positive happens.
AM3 is so bad that if I found a once-​in-​a-​lifetime dream apartment or condo to rent or buy, for a too-​good-​to-​be-​true price, and the ONLY con was that some services were provided by AM3, my decision would be so hard my brain would likely explode.

By far the worst internet company ever! Constantly having connection problems! They have been saying for 18 months now that they are upgrading the building, they leave us without connection for more than 2 days, during a whole weekend!
Their customer service doesn’t know anything, how can they deal with a building in Miami when you are located in Chicago!!!
Stay away from this company as much as you can!

Unilocal needs a negative star review for this company. NEGATIVE 10 STARS — WORST ISP known to mankind. It amazes me that the FCC allows them to stay in business. I am forced to use and pay for this atrocious service by Lincoln Property Company, the Management Company for my West Loop Apartment Building. It’s disgusting to say the least and it is the main reason why I will be moving when my lease is up in January.

I can say is that the technicians and their phone people are pleasant but really have no answers for you
This company sends people out into the field to do repairs without the proper equipment without the proper notes on the account
I had four service calls in four weeks when I got upset about the delay in getting the problem fixed they’re only response was
«I can send a technician out to see you» the only problem is the technicians were never ever able to fix it
It took four people a month to fix it.
And all the other person does is blame the person prior

There’s a reason why this company is less expensive than their competitors; their customer service is astoundingly poor! My Minneapolis experience:
A) With long wait times (over 20 min.) their call queuing system/​service reps drop calls after you’ve been on hold
B) Their CS representatives send e-​mails that bounce when you attempt to respond to them. In addition, the e-​mails contain no valid e-​mail reply-​to address in the body or footer, along with no phone number, company URL or street address (which me thinks is illegal according to the CAN-​SPAM Act). During two CS calls, the rep was not able to provide a functional reply-​to
C) When asked for a supervisor callback, was promised a response within 24 to 48 hours but, no call back. When I checked back after 24 hours, I was told that «…it was not assigned to a manager,» so no call back. After a week, still no call back.
D) During sign up and installation, the technicians (yup, there were two on the install call) were given the wrong premises equipment, so they did not complete the installation on the first try.
E) After sign up, I received no «Welcome» e-​mail or snail mail with my account number or any additional information for viewing my billing, et cetera.
F) Access Media 3 replaces an aDSL service I had previously. I have a mix of tone and pulse dial phones in my house. Though I was too stupid to ask, I assumed that Access Media’s VoIP service would also support pulse dialing. I was wrong. During sign-​up, I was not informed that their Cisco SPA 122 ATA doesn’t support pulse dialing, so only my tone dialing phones now work.
G) After having the service for less than a month, I’ve experienced two total outages, data and voice, lasting several hours.
Overall:
1) Service level and availability is much worse than CenturyLink.
2) Speed-​wise, their data services seems to be on par with other cable providers (as-​advertised performance off-​peak but less than advertised performance during peak hours)
To summarize:
If you never need tech support, and aren’t concerned with relatively frequent outages, they may be a viable alternative. I’d give them a «Meh.» Their one advantage is, they’re cheaper than the incumbent. That said, caveat emptor!

We have had a variety of problems with AM3 over the last 1.5 years. We are unfortunately forced to use their service for TV by our condo building, otherwise we would not be doing business with this company.
Our most recent issue was that we had scheduled a service call to install an additional DVR box. We were given a 4 hour window for when the technician would arrive. With only 30 minutes left in the window and no updates received, I called the Customer Service line only to be told they would send an email to Dispatch. I called again when 15 minutes were left in the window and was put on hold for the majority of the call, only to be told the service would be rescheduled. No explanation as to why and no apology that no update was provided. Just another example of extremely poor customer service, which we have come to expect from this company.

It has been 4 months now since I wrote my first Unilocal review on this company and I have still seen no results on my internet service even after dealing with AM3’s customer service on a regular basis. The internet continues to freeze and shut me out. I have taken an actual log of the times my internet goes unresponsive and I can honestly and accurately say that the internet service goes unresponsive AT LEAST 3 times every hour, each time lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 1:15 minutes. This is extremely exhausting and stressful.
NOTE TO LANDLORD AND PROPERTY OWNERS, Do not make your tenants/​customers go through the headache that this company creates. Do your research and understand that there is a reason they are rated one (1) star.
I am very rational and level-​headed and I can say that this company is borderline a scam.

Access Media 3 is so frustrating that I’d come back here and give them a 1-​star every day except that it takes 10 minutes to load Unilocal using their Internet service. And for the record, has anyone ever seen a company with an *average* of one-​star on Unilocal before these guys? The terrible companies and restaurants with horrible food and service typically have enough redeeming qualities to garner 2.5−3 stars.
I know Internet speed is a first world problem (if you will), but in in the US with a national average above 18 Mbps, I consistently get less than 2 Mbps with AM3.
As a business professional who typically works from home, sometimes during the day, and often in the evenings, I’m reliant on a solid Internet provider to do my job. You know… the thing that pays the bills. Yet, every 3^rd day or so the Internet is so slow that it won’t even load an image.
Customer service is hit or miss (i.e. they’re friendly enough, but it seems like these guys are usually displaced from corporate and rarely know what is going on).
I’d gladly change providers, but it looks like these guys have struck a deal with my apartment complex for exclusive provider rights to our complex. I can appreciate Jill J. (their customer service representative?) responding to comments via Unilocal in an effort to rectify the situation, but the fact is they’re a Chicago-​based company, whose own employees rate them a 1.2 of 5 on
, incapable of providing worthwhile service to the Houston area. Don’t stop there. Their Better Business Bureau rating? What else? An F.
If you’re even considering an apartment complex that *only* offers these guys as an Internet service provider, I highly recommend you look elsewhere.

If I could rate ACCESS MEDIA 3 ZERO STARS, I would!
This could very well be the WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. This is the only choice for service in the community we rented our summer beach house in. The internet was out when we arrived. My first call ended with their customer service agent being extremely rude to me. So much so that I asked to speak to a supervisor. I’m still waiting for that call. The wait times for on hold are never less than 20 minutes and that’s fast if you are lucky.
After 5+ calls and waiting from 4 days, we finally got a service tech appointment. The customer service department told us the service tech was on the property and we were next in queue around 10 AM. Around 5:30 PM the service tech called to tell us he got a flat tire and would be late. Turns out on top of the horrendous lack of attention, their service tech lied to us. The service tech was shocked when I asked where on the property he was. He stated he was over an hour away. He informed me that he’d talk to the support staff to not lie anymore. The window ended up being hours and hours late!
I called in 1 week from the initial call and I’m still waiting for tier 2 support to call? I’m also waiting on someone from the supervisor ranks to call after requesting a supervisor on 3 separate occasions.
Here we are 1 week later and we are still having issues with the internet. This company does not care about it’s customers. The create a monopoly and take advantage of the situation.

Updated info: 45 days later and still nothing! We’ve replaced the Apple wireless router with a «recommended» Netgear device and we still have to reset the Access Media gear a minimum of 1 time per day to get it to work. They claim that their service can support streaming video. NOT TRUE. Do not buy a movie from AppleTV and expect it to stream. Access Media’s service is so poor that attempting to rent from AppleTV and stream is not feasible. Our Netflix takes extremely long and ends up streaming in Standard Definition after the longest buffering time in the history of mankind!
