I’ve been a customer of AC Computer Thrift Store since they were in their old building on State Street. That was a long time ago, and the reason this business is still around is because they offer a good and useful service to the community. What you’ll find at AC are three things: –Computers –Computer accessories –A limited supply of software While the big draw are the used items, you’re really only going to find that for the big stuff and the software. Cables, keyboards, speakers, mice and other peripherals tend to be new, and the prices for these new items tend to be on par with other computer retailers. The used stuff can be a crapshoot, largely because it’s being sold on consignment. Sometimes, you’ll find a really good deal, but sometimes, the seller just wants too much for an old laptop, desktop or printer. What I like most about this store is the service. Jeff and Dan(the original owners) and the rest of the crew will work hard to help out their customers. They’re very knowledgeable about computers and are great at assisting with diagnostics and repairs. They can be a little technical when they’re explaining things, but they don’t expect the customer to follow everything they’re saying. Their customer service skills are great. AC is a rare breed of store — a small-town tech shop that isn’t selling glitzy or glamorous computer stuff like high-end graphics cards or giant LCD monitors. By offering the basics and a variety of used computers, they really have nice niche in the marketplace.
