Dog Cat & Bird Clinic

I have been going to this clinic for about 4 years now. The receptionist or front office person who is older has whie hair is soooo nasty! Everytime I go there she gives horrible service. I have seen her say hello, welcome how are you etc. but never to me. Shes always like what are you here for. She makes me want to leave this veterinary office.
Positive note: Dr. Stanzel is a great doctor and loves what he does, you can tell. Always friendly and amiable. My advice stay away from the older woman at the front desk. Everyone else is great.

I have been using Nutley’s Dog Cat & Bird Clinic since the early 90s. I have great respect for Dr. Crupi and his team of colleagues and technicians, right down to the office staff (Nancy’s awesome). They are compassionate, caring, and experienced. Our dogs have great anxiety going to the vet, and shake like a paint can mixer, but once on the table, each veterinarian has an uncanny way of calming their patient and working with them.
I can’t tell you how valuable it is as a pet owner to know that the professional is LISTENING to me and focusing on the best health for their patients. Follow-​up calls are a regular. In fact, on occasion we’ve had to take our dogs to Oradell Animal Hospital (another OUTSTANDING institution) and the next business day I’d get a call from Dr. Crupi directly following up on his patient and their progress. How can you go wrong with such an experienced and caring facility???
They recently celebrated their 25^th anniversary and I’m proud to say I’m one of the original patrons!

Once again, another great visit to Dr. Crupi and staff! So, I was a day early for Santa pics and decided to have Buddy’s nails trimmed AGAIN! I swear he can’t get enough of that place and I enjoy the staff. If your considering a vet, this is truly the place to go!!!

I take both my cats here and everytime I come here its wonderful. The staff is very helpful and the doctors always give me good input and helpful advice with my animals. Always very concerned with the well being of my animals, a pleasure to come to this vet office !

I like that you have to reply to me to defend yourself. You were absolutely rude and yes you spoke to me like I am stupid as another customer has just posted 21 hours ago. Your staff which is presumably who you have replying to these posts, is rude and nasty. $ 500 is ridiculous to charge for a male kitten to be neutered you are out of your mind.

I simply wanted to get my dog’s nails cut and get a rabies shot. To my surprise I was stuck with a bill for $ 115. After a close look I realized they charged me $ 75 for an annual check up — something they did automatically without letting me know! And their definition of an annual check up must be simply listening to the dog’s heartbeat because the vet certainly didn’t do anything else. The vet was nice but the staff in the reception area was rude! They saw me waiting for them yet they ignored me and kept talking to each other about personal stuff and showing each other pictures on their cell phones! How rude!!! One of the girls tried to explain to me about the $ 75 fee but acted like I was stupid. She must be the stupid one because she kept saying an annual exam is required every 6 month (ummm that doesn’t make sense). Point is they needed to be clear about their annual exam requirements instead of surprising the customer with it! I am certainly not going back!

Haven’t left a review in awhile, but had to in this case. We recently brought Skylar home (an 8-​week old Siberian Husky). She was suffering from kennel cough and a couple of pesky parasites. Within a few weeks, we had to find boarding for Skylar for several days and we were stressed because we were not sure we’d find any facility equipped to care for Her in our absence. To say that Dr. Stancel and the rest of the team at the Dog, Cat & Bird have been phenomenal in their professionalism and service would be a gross understatement. They are extraordinary beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed at a veterinarian’s office. Not only has Skylar made a remarkable recovery — she was clearly not stressed despite having been boarded for several days. We would gladly recommend the Dog, Cat & Bird Clinic to anyone needing friendly, professional, veterinary care and service!

The staff at the Dog Cat & Bird Clinic are great! I take both my cat and my dog there, and my dog is always so happy to go! If I even say «Do you want to go to the vet?» he gets so excited, and pulls me inside once we’re there!
The front desk staff is always helpful with delivering messages to the doctors and getting back to you, and we never have a tough time getting an appointment quickly. The vet techs are all friendly as well. If you have pet insurance (we have VPI), you just need to give them a blank claim form and they will submit the claim for you!
My dog has seen Dr. Crupi, Dr. Krick and Dr. Stancel and loved all three of them. You can tell that they absolutely love animals at this hospital and they shower my pup with love, which of course he reciprocates! The doctors having lots of cheese probably helps. :) They handle Jesse gently and in turn, he’s never nervous or misbehaving.
Around Christmastime last year, my dog was sick and the DCB Clinic was closed, so we took him to an emergency clinic that evening. The next morning, Dr. Crupi called me to make sure that Jesse was okay and to talk about next steps. I was NOT expecting that and thought it was great that he would go above and beyond for a patient that he didn’t even see for that particular issue.
Recently, my dog had been having other issues and I’ve been working closely with Dr. Krick to pinpoint what the issue is. Dr. Krick calls often to check on Jesse, returns messages quickly, and is really clear with what he explains to you about why he is choosing a certain treatment for your pet. He even saw me after the clinic was closed because he knew we were on a tight schedule and Jesse was having an episode. He also did not charge me when he had to re-​run a test. What we’re going through hasn’t been cheap, but I will pay anything to make sure my fur babies are happy and healthy.

This was our first visit the Dog, Cat and Bird Clinic. Our very senior lab, Fifi, eye had turned bright red and our groomer suggested having it looked at asap and recommended the Clinic. After a brief wait, we were taken into the examination room for a weigh in after which Dr. Stancel met with us. He was very calm and personable and determined that Fifi had sustained a scratch on her eye. Huge relief! I was fearing the worst (Surgery? Cancer?) and Dr. Stancel said he would prescribe an ointment that should cure the problem. I also asked if he would recommend Rimadyl to help with Fifi’s arthritis and he said he would give us a 14 day trial run to see how she tolerated it. He also suggested a blood test to determine if she had any existing liver damage as Rimadyl can impact the liver. What I liked about this practice is I didn’t feel pressured into any additional services or medication. I felt the veterinarian was genuinely concerned about my pet, was very professional and knowledgeable and that my dogs well being was his first priority, not an inflated bill. The techs and office staff were equally nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend the Dog, Cat and Bird Clinic of Nutley and would bring my other two dogs here if needed.

I had to bring in my parrot for a full wellness checkup. Dr. Christopher Stancel was awesome! He was very patient and gentle with my bird. My parrot hates towels and stresses out badly when he is wrapped in one but Dr. Stancel handled my bird without a towel therefore causing my pet’s stress to be minimal. He took his time with me and my parrot and was very informative. He cuddled my bird a lot too. :) I had a full examination, blood work and fecal gram performed and it came out to be $ 298.35 which I found to be the price I was expecting. Bird checkups tend to run between $ 300-​$ 500. I got the test results very quickly, about 1 – 2 days after the appointment. Dr. Stancel called me personally to tell me the results and I am happy to say my 22 year old bird is healthy.

I brought my macaw in for the first time, and we met Dr. Stancel. I highly recommend him, as he seemed very knowledgeable. He called me personally with the test results, which added a level of professionalism and courtesy.

Exceptional establishment! Great staff, clean environment, and flexible payment options. Regardless of other reviews lamenting «high prices,» this clinic is by far the best choice in the area. You get what you pay for and between their online services offered and amazing service it was worth every penny.

My 2 cats just had their 1^st visit and it was such a pleasurable experience. We met Dr. Krick; he was gentle, didn’t rush, and was very knowledgable. He didn’t pressure us into vaccinations that weren’t needed, he simply gave his recommendations and details of what we could possibly prevent if we decided to go through with the less needed tests and shots. I liked that he calls when the test results come in and I also love that you can see your animals records online. Another plus is being able to set up a payment plan if you can’t pay in full. My 2 boys will be coming back here from now on!

I am giving it a four instead of 5 as I am a new patient (well my cat is). Overall it was a great experience, got an appointment quick and didn’t have to wait long to be seen. Everyone was extremely friendly, with the exception of one of the receptionists who was a bit cold and unfriendly. The vet who treated my cat was super nice and spent a lot of time with me and my cat. He was very helpful land took the time to answer all my questions.
He called me the very next day to go over my cats. Test results and again spent time discussing her health and explaining and answering many
cat is back to her regular self and feeling much better.
It was a little bit above average price wise but not overly expensive and the treatment given made up for it. I plan to continue with this vet and will also be bringing my new puppy in. :)

Over the holidays this year, our dog got very (and very mysteriously) sick. I’ll spare you the gory details. But having visited another local vet and found them lacking in sensitivity (and prone to overcharging), we brought our dog-​baby to Dog, Cat, Bird clinic. We saw Dr. Krick. This place and this doctor proved to be nothing short of outstanding. The premises are clean and thoughtfully decorated – in other words, it doesn’t have that cold antiseptic feel of most vets. And Dr. Krick and all of the support staff were wonderful and inquisitive. Yeah you read that right! Not only did they care about our dog but they always asked about her condition and course of treatment. And eventually, our little monster-​darling of a doggie got better!
Those of you with animals know what a huge huge relief it is to find an excellent vet you can trust with your loved one. Well this is it for us. I highly highly recommend the clinic and Dr. Krick in particular. Thanks to the doc and the rest of the staff!

I have been bringing both of my dogs to Dr Crupi or Dr Krick for at least 13 years! They are caring Vets who always treat my two babies as if they were their own! I would never bring them to anyone else! The front desk is always more then accommodating… The rest of the staff are always warm and welcoming to me and my little guys! They get top ratings from our household!

I used to love it there because #1 the doctors and staff absolutely treat your animals with care and love. I feel safe bringing my animals there, however, they want payment up front. Even if it’s $ 1000+. Some places I found recently try to work with you. Like take a lump sum and then smaller payments from there. It isn’t the end of the world but not everyone has that kind of money at once it helps!
I also think they try to make you do a lot of unncessesary procedures so they can make more money. Other people who have been there have told me the same thing. I swear every visit I go to costs at least $ 400. The office visit is I believe $ 62. They make you feel guilty like you need these things done when sometimes it isn’t really needed.
They also seem to have a big turnaround for doctors.
Dr. Cruppi is AMAZING. he is so sweet, doesn’t rush you through the appointment and follows up by calling you the next day to see how your animal is doing. He is the only saving grace in that place.
