I have ordered two pairs of glasses with a specialized prescription (progressive transition) from Zenni. They are as perfect as they can be. Better than the ones I got from my optimologist. If you feel you need a logo on your frames and feel like paying at least double for lenses go for it. Otherwise Zenni all the way.

I was quoted from 80 to 120 for some TINTED SUNGLASS PRESCRIPTION LENS WITHOUT THE FRAME, AND I got this for 19 dollars, not only tinted, but gradient tinted, frame, case !!! That already includes shipping!!!

I have bought 4 pairs of glasses from Zenni Optical and 3 out of 4 have cracked for no reason at all. That’s a 75% chance based on my experience your glasses will be garbage.
Pair #1: Cracked after about 6 months of use. One morning I noticed the crack and I thought that maybe I banged them against something. I messaged Zenni and they told me that they could sell a replacement frame for half the price. Fine.
Pair #2: Cracked TWO DAYS after I received the frame and I put in the old lenses in. How did they crack you ask? While they were sitting on my restroom counter. On their own. For no reason at all.
My prescription is high so I stupidly thought that maybe the lenses were too thick and I needed to splurge for more expensive and thinner lenses. So like an idiot, I gave this company another $ 50 for a new pair of lenses and frames.
Pair #3: Cracked a little bit over a month after purchase while I was watching TV on my couch. Just like that! CRACK! Scared the c*** out of me too. They cracked while on my face! ON MY FACE!
We messaged Zenni to receive a FULL refund and they said that it was more than 30 days so NO GO.
Call me crazy but you might want your glasses to last for more than a month or six for that matter.
The reply we received from this company is garbage. The «customer service» department sent us a generic copy and paste reply from their website and literally used quotations on their response. They took zero time to learn our history, to find out that we have ordered the SAME frame 3 times and it has cracked 3 times! I know, what you’re thinking, why did I do that? Stupidity that’s why. Don’t be like me. Don’t be stupid.

I have been ordering glasses from Zenni Optical for over 3 years. I get glasses for myself, my daughter, and my husband. Most of the times everything has been fine. However, you have no way of knowing if the prescription or glasses are good. A couple years ago I had a pair delivered where the prescription was obviously wrong. I had to send them back and wait for them to be checked. Once Zenni confirmed that it was their mistake, they sent me a new pair. It took forever and I had they made me jump through hoops to show it was not my fault. Later I discovered the lenses were still completely off from the prescription I had sent. A year ago I ordered another pair. The cost over $ 200. I felt things were off but was concerned over sending them back. If there wasn’t anything wrong, I would have to pay for sending them back and forth. I kept the glasses and suffered from ongoing headaches. Yesterday I went to my ophthalmologist. They couldn’t even get a reading off my left lens. They told me the lens was warped which is why I had been having headaches. They couldn’t believe a lab would even release lenses in this condition to a customer. I contacted Zenni to let them know. Their response was «not our problem it’s been over 30 days». I will never order from them again. The customer service is horrible and my eyes are too important to risk warped lenses.

I feel like I’m getting away with something. 27 $ and I got prescription glasses w/​anti-​reflective coating, and a sunglass cover (which I’ll prob never use). I don’t know if I should be happy or angry at other eye glass retail stores for multiplying the price by 10X. Regardless, I still recommend stopping into a local eyeglass store to have your online ordered glasses fitted, I did.

Lets face it, no one wants to purchase glasses online. But I decided to give it a shot with Zenni Optical. The process was surprisingly easy. I simply uploaded my photo, tried frames on virtually, then typed in my prescription details. Easy breezy. I chose two pair because with they were so inexpensive. The total cost for both with shipping was just under $ 60. the glasses arrived securely packaged. Granted, if you are the type of person who wants to pay $$$ for the designer name on the side, then this place is not for you. But if you are like me, and want quality, attractive frames at a fraction of the cost, then give them a try.

Have been a Zenni customer since 2007, having ordered several pairs of bifocal glasses at an average cost of about $ 50 each. They have all held up well, even the rimless and semi-​rimless models. Yes, they do wear out from constant everyday use but no faster than much more expensive glasses from a retail optician. I’ve used the sunglasses for about 8 years with no problems, mainly for driving. I have experienced no problems matching my doctor’s prescription (confirmed by the doctor). Stick with simple, reliable, and sturdy frames and you can’t go wrong. Mention Zenni at your local over-​priced optical retail store and watch the defensive reaction!

I’ve upped my rating to «OK». Finally, after a number of months of complaining, Zenni agreed to refund my return shipping costs on a badly made pair of glasses.
I know that Zenni can make pretty decent glasses, but they should take better accountability when they mess up. I went from «I buy all my glasses at Zenni» to «I will never buy glasses from them again». I’m now «on the fence, let me see what happens when I cool off».

First time ordering from Zenni and they definitely have my business. As a former eyeglass optician and dispenser as well as a dependent to the everyday use of corrective lenses, I’m quite pleased. I went with polycarbonate lens with a –4.00 script in both eyes and they are quite thin and the frame is just a basic tortoise square frame all for just under $ 30, can you say awesome?! I used the digital try on from the website and the frame quality seems sturdy and the prescription is clear and crisp even next to my $ 200 Zeiss lens and $ 200 Ray Ban frame from a chain retailer. I absolutely will be ordering more and will refer my optical friends to Zenni!

I don’t want to sound like an ungrateful curmudgeon. I’m happy my defective glasses were finally replaced.
I would have given them 5-​stars if they didn’t make me beg and plead for them to fix their error. They were still not going to resolve it after days of multiple back and forth with customer service explaining the issue until I said, «Okay but I want to give you a heads up I have left a review with [the following review sites], and contacted the BBB so you may hear from them». Within 30 minutes I had a new pair of glasses ordered and being shipped to my house. Hmmmm… thank you?
They have a great product when it is made correctly. I shouldn’t have to leave a sarcastic review that sounds like a broken record in hopes of making common sense and common business practices well… more common.
To give a proper compliment sandwich, I’m happy I got the glasses fixed. They are really cute and I can see in them now. #Winning. I hope this serves as motivation for them to update their policies and train their customer service agents to be consistently stellar.

I ordered my glasses over 2 years ago and they are still intact. I ordered for shipment to my home state of SC without any delay in shipping or damage during shipping issues.
I will start by saying that I wear glasses for distance & only while driving so for me it’s not everyday usage.
For this reason I feel that this is a practical solution for me. I have to appreciate a great option for me in getting glasses. I’ve damaged enough high end glasses to know that I’m very happy using Zennioptical.

I really liked this company at first. They have cheap prices. About $ 40 per pair of glasses once you get the add-​ons.
BUT, I went to the real optometrist today. They put the zenni glasses on this device that measures the correction. The glasses were completely wrong. There seems to be no quality control or checks at Zenni. Since I have a strong eye, that eye compensated for Zenni’s mistake.

I called them. At first they refused to act because my order was over 30 days old. Nobody goes back to the eye doctor 30 days after one get new glasses. So, the 30 day thing is a sham. I am now waiting on a reply from a «Supervisor.»
My bet is that not many people who buy such cheap glasses would ever get them checked. Those people may hardly be able to afford an eye doctor at all.
Anyway, the ball is your court Zenni. I wait to see if you can process your own low quality. I now wonder if I should get the glasses checked for lead content — they are from china.
I will update this comment positively if they can fix the problem. But for now. buyer beware — be very wary of Zenni.

I reviewed my review, and thought more stars were owed to Zenni.
My recent order shipped much faster than in the past, and the Rx, which is now more complicated because my eyes are going to hell in a handbag, came out perfectly. I wasn’t happy with the frames and they offered me a RMA for returning them, but I need the glasses to see so can’t part with them. So I will simply order another pair using a frame that’s worked well for me in the past. Fair is fair; Zenni really is a good value. I stand by my caveats in my original review: watch out for frames described as «plastic.» Acetate is what you want. Many of their frames are now described as «acetate/​plastic.» I’m not sure what that means, but those frames have worked for me.

In the past I have always gotten my glasses from the Optometrist shop and even with double coverage on vision insurance, it would cost atleast $ 120 for my glasses. I found myself without insurance and needing glasses. So i started looking at discount glasses and found Zenni Optical and decided to give them a try.
I received my glasses in mail yesterday, on time and I am very happy with the whole thing from start to finish. I paid about half of what i usually spent out of pocket with insurance for one pair, and i got 3pair of very cute and good quality glasses, one sunglasses which i chose the tinting color and strength on and the prescription was done well, they were packaged well.
Again, I am very happy with Zenni and dont understand why «designer» frames have to charge 20 times more.

Have you ever walked into an optometrist clinic (or even just an optician) and after an eye exam, decided to purchase a pair of prescription glasses from them? Or maybe you walked into a Walmart and even a CostCo and bought a pair of glasses from them. Ever wondered how the frames are decently priced, but the lens cost an arm and a leg? Oh, you want progressive lenses with that? Cha-​ching! I see, you want transition lenses too? Cha-​ching, cha-​ching! Before you knew it, a frame costing a modest $ 80 balloons into a pair of glasses, with lenses, costing you in upwards of $ 500! Yikes! It’s enough to make you see red!
Well, a recent, positive, experience I had with Zenni Optical (
) may be the solution. I recently bought a replacement pair of prescription glasses online through Zenni Optical (after a recent eye exam from my optometrist), chose my frame with lenses that has progressive as well as transition options… and voila! I only paid just over $ 84! The glasses arrived within two weeks from my order being processed. Oh yeah, they also offer the following with your order, for free:

The key is to make sure you have all the required information (i.e. measurements from your prescription) available for the best fit AND the corresponding vision correction… to include PD (pupillary distance measures the space between the pupils of your eyes), Sphere (lens power to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness), Cylinder (lens power for astigmatism), Axis (lens meridian), and Add (for progressive lenses — added magnifying power applied to the bottom part of multifocal lenses). You can also take a picture of yourself and upload to the site so you can virtually «try on» different pairs to see how it would «fit».
All in all, I thought the process was easy and straightforward… and I think we have our source for prescription glasses for years to come.
So far so good… will see how these glasses hold up over time.

Good quality glasses for a great price. I have ordered several pairs and will order more in the future.
One caveat is that their polarization isn’t uniform at all. Other companies are much more successful in dealing with stress birefringence than Zenni; if they aren’t able to offer a quality service they shouldn’t offer it at all or at the very least offer it with due warning about the «expected» variation.
My glasses came to $ 85 and half of that was due to polarization. It was not worth it.
«We have checked the pictures you attached and would like to tell you that the variation of the polarization is normal, and this is just a kind of feature of polarized lenses. However, it does not affect your vision or the function of the polarized lenses.

Sorry Melody you are wrong. Having such obvious variations in polarization does affect how the sunglasses work. Depending on where you look within the lens something is polarized or not and it is a very apparent.
I have attached a picture taken in front of a monitor to highlight the effect of the variation.

I was skeptical at first. I decided to search online to see if I could buy some new specs. I typically wear contacts so I tend not to purchase eyeglasses, but my optometrist ensured me that my prescription needed to be updated.
I found a decent pair of frames. Didn’t ask for special lenses of any kind and got quoted approx $ 500. No way. Too much.
I searched and found Zenni-​Optical. Their website was very intuitive. I found a modern frame, scratch resistant lenses and even sprung for photosensitive lenses (I always wanted a pair that changed in sunlight). The total came to only $ 98!
I was nervous but ordered. It took about 2 weeks and I got my new glasses in the US mail. I couldn’t be happier!
The frames are great. The prescription is perfect. The fit is fantastic. If I was going to be picky, I would say that I do seem to have an issue with keeping my frames uncrooked. Basically, I need to mess more with how the nose rests sit on my nose. Certainly, nothing that could be prevented.
Overall…very impressed. At these prices, I can buy 4 more pairs for the cost of 1 here at home. You have gained a life long customer.

I’m a moron and incorrectly entered my prescription the first time around. I ordered +4.00 instead of –4.00. Stupid.
I was incredibly dismayed that my new glasses (that didn’t take longer to arrive than if I ordered from an optometrist) were blurry and worthless. I called customer service to see what I could do. She told me to wait for an email with my return order and ship my glasses back. I would get store credit for the full amount. Works for me! She also said lots of people make my mistake.
I shipped them back and my store credit was applied a couple days later. Less than two weeks later, my new glasses came in and they are wonderful! I got three pairs for $ 55 including lens upgrades, whereas my last pair I bought from an optometrist cost me almost $ 300. Can’t beat it!

I’ll just start out with that so there’s no confusion.
Yes, it’s true, for $ 30 you can get a beautiful pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses – well made, including anti-​reflective coating. For $ 50 you can get them with transitions-​type lenses that darken in the sun (and get totally clear indoors). They even have glasses starting at $ 10, simple classic shapes, like round or oval wireframe.
And lenses are always included in the price! Anti-​reflective coating that places like Lenscrafters charge $ 100 for? Here it’s $ 5 – because that’s how much it costs.
Now – you’re probably thinking, «If this is possible, then why does Lenscrafters/​Luxottica charge $ 400? One word: Monopoly. Luxottica owns Lenscrafters and most major brands you’ve heard of, Oakley, RayBan, Chanel, Prada, Polo Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan. and on and on. They also own the outlets (Lenscrafters, Pearle, Sears, Target, Sunglass Hut) they control the pricing.
So, the question isn’t why are Zenni glasses so affordable – the question is – why are Luxottica brands so overpriced? That’s an easy answer: profit.
Look – I understand boutique frames being expensive. They’re hand-​made, in limited quantities, so they’re like expensive fashion – makes sense.
But – you can get fashion-​forward, limited-​edition frames from See (
only sell through their stores). They’re a boutique that makes their own frames and has beautiful, super-​fashionable designs that cost between $ 200 and $ 300. That’s fair and I highly recommend See.
Warby Parker sells mostly preppy frames and lenses online starting at $ 100. I have yet to purchase a pair, because I found their frame selection too limited, but again, good glasses don’t have to cost a fortune.
So – for everyday glasses, and variety, I go to Zenni.
I own SIX PAIRS of Zenni glasses, and they’re not only good, I constantly get compliments from people who think I bought them in Europe, or some super-​fancy eyeglass store. These are frames that look like they’re made of wood, frames with interesting details, bridges, materials and finishes.
I don’t understand the people who’ve complained about «cheaply made» since none of the six pairs I’ve received are. Mine are consistently well-​made. I have six pairs because not because they’ve worn out (none of them have!). I have six-​pairs because I have to wear glasses every single day, and at these prices I can afford to have six pairs for less than the price of one pair of Lenscrafters frames!
Zenni has thousands of frames – ranging from prosaic to very unique, high-​end, high-​design glasses, including some wonderful retro shapes, excellent tortoise patterned acetate (the plastic material even most high-​end frames are made from). Some have spring hinges and other features found on expensive frames.
Let’s talk about the lenses – which, in my experience, are always perfectly made. You know how when you put on new glasses you sometimes have to take some time to adjust to them? I’ve never had that issue with Zenni. I put them on, everything looks right, done.
TIP #1: Take a selfie of yourself – straight on. Upload it to Zenni, and it will «try on» frames right on your picture. The system works very well, and I find that when the glasses arrive – they look on my face just the way they looked on the preview! NOTE: It’s vital that you know your pupillary distance (see below) so that the size of the frames is accurate in these previews, but that’s easy.
TIP: What you need to order: 1) Your prescription AND your pupillary distance (PD). The PD isn’t usually written on your prescription, but it’s always measured, so all you have to do is ask for it and they’ll give it to you (they say you can measure it yourself, and you probably can – but your doctor will have it, you just have to ask).
Then go online, enter the prescription numbers (carefully – double check them, people, I think that may have been the problem with people who had problems here). Order. It takes about 2 weeks to get the glasses which arrive in the mail in hard plastic cases you can use every day, and cleaning cloths.
Most glasses are also available with perfectly custom-​shaped clip-​on sunglasses that don’t look like old-​fashion cheap clip-​ons, because they’re made for each specific pair style, so they look like part of the glasses. These cost a big $ 4 each, so you can even buy a couple in case you lose one. Or you can get permanently tinted sunglasses. Imagine – sunglasses you’re not afraid to lose because they didn’t cost that much.
Look – it’s your choice. You can continue to throw away hundreds of dollars at Lenscrafters (and if you want «designer names» then yes, you need to go there). Or you can choose chic, stylish, fashionable, sturdy, chunky, rimless, retro, modern eyeglasses at Zenni for literally ¹⁄₁₀^th the cost. It’s your choice. Now – guess what the smart choice is?
