These people came highly recommended by the Apple store in Las Vegas. They are definitely not cheap, but then again, neither were the blood, sweat, and tears + plus tuition money spent going to school for almost 2 years and losing all the data for all of my school projects on my flash drive. I literally lost my mind, marbles, etc.
So either the dogs stepped on my opened laptop while I was out and somehow pushed enough buttons to delete all of my info or my drive got corrupt somehow. I just know I got home from brunch one day and all of my files were gone except for four of the ones I needed the least. I was not a happy camper! Not sure what happened but DriveSavers fixed it. All of my school files were recovered. My only complaint is the price because let’s just say these people are the Rolls Royce dealership of data recovery. They did explain to me why they charge what they do. If you want 100% peace of mind and to be insured that you will get everything back, call them. If you want to be cheap and it’s worth it to take chances, then feel free to price shop. I may live in Las Vegas, but I don’t gamble when it comes to things like this. It’s up to you though to decide what it’s worth to you.
I wasn’t even going to review these people but I was so impressed by the customer service given by JP that I decided to write them a review and heap my praise on. So many people seem to complain when there’s a problem but never to speak up when things are good, so I felt it was important that I reviewed DriveSavers. JP, thank you so much and really all the staff at this company is awesome. Five stars all the way.

I have used them for years in a professional capacity with perfect success. Recently I sent a client to them that had the only back up of an award winning art project and they got it recovered and were very happy. The customer service was great and the reps I talked to were as well. I read some of the reviews and it seems some had one off issues, but mine specifically I must say were great and successful.

Don’t be fooled by very professional customer service. Good chance you will be taken advantage of (from my experience).
Prior to sending an external HD with a corrupt FAT, drive was inspected by local IT professionals. Drive was determined to be in excellent, working condition. The only issue being the corrupt FAT.
After DS analysis, I was quoted $ 2500 — $ 3300 for the data recovery, because of «the condition of the drive». I was told the drive was damaged, and that it was bad enough they could not promise what data could be recovered.
I refused the service. Steer Clear.

They saved me! I was so stressed about my files and the whole time the customer service were so sweet and understanding. I got all my data back in no time and even helped me transfer it to my new computer. They also did personal follow up calls to make sure I was good to go. Thanks guys!

Wowzers… these guys are crazy expensive. Their price per drive is ridiculous and then when you decide not to use them they start asking what others quoted you so they can try to beat the price. While they may be good there are plenty of vendors out there that have great facilities at much lower costs.

Best experience I had got all my photos I needed from my broken phone! Great response, fast working, and nice to their customers! Only reason I give 4 stars is the price to retrieve data is kind of too high! Very pricey! But other than that, got my data fast and I’m happy!

Drive Savers is as good as I had hoped and that most people here seem to agree. Their services are expensive but having my photos that were lost on an external drive that broke are well worth it. Best of all Rebecca helped cut costs by providing image only services that saved all my photos within my original file structure. This reduced costs to about half what their full services would be.
Prior to working with Rebecca and after experiencing sticker shock for over $ 2K to recover my entire drive, I called another drive service provider that was also highly recommenced on Unilocal,the person from another company in my area informed me that this is an expensive service and going with some of the cheaper companies could irreparably destroy the data I had on my broken drive, The most impressive thing was Drive Savers’ competition I called even let me know that I was in good hands with Drive Savers.
Drive Savers’ state of the art clean room is something that prevents failure and certified, their staff was thoughtful, and they saved my data. I learned an expensive lesson but have memories I treasure. They recommend and I am getting two external drives to save all my data in the future. I would have preferred not needing them but I did and Drive Savers came through with flying colors.

I run a small computer repair shop out of Portland, Oregon. We’re looking for a cleanroom data recovery partner for our customers, and I was calling around to see what the market was like.
I called these folks up at almost 7:30pm PST wholly expecting to be answered by a call tree or voicemail, but instead got an incredibly friendly and helpful woman named Kim on the line. Although she was not a reseller specialist, she answered every question I could think of — technical or otherwise — and even offered up information that I didn’t think to ask about. She explained their process in perfect detail so that I know exactly what I and my clients would be getting in to if we were to engage with DriveSavers. I really could not have asked for more.
WE HAVE NOT YET SENT THESE FOLKS A DRIVE, but the service I received today from Kim warrants a five star review in and of itself. Our entire business is based around human-​to-​human interactions, and I feel very confident now that if I were to forward a customer of ours to these folks, our very high standards would be matched.
These guys have excellent certifications and all, but after tonight they will definitely be be our go-​to for high end recoveries. Thanks, Kim! :D

I’d heard great things about Drive Savers for years, so when I committed the cardinal sin of data (251 protools sessions, not backed up), and my drive died, I knew who to call. First and foremost, I was reassured by how thorough and professional these people are about their protocols. I could tell they were accustomed to handling high-​stakes situations — far more grave than my own.
Candice, at the front desk, was my main contact, and very clear and helpful.
All my data was recovered, and I also enjoyed meeting those of the team that I came in contact with.

Upgrading the operating system on my laptop from windows 8.1 to Windows 10, I encountered a dreaded «Blue screen» error, the type that leaves you with very few options, all of them potentially horrifying. Long story short, I’d also been recklessly cranking away on my dissertation and simply had to try to recover it. The local Geek Squad said DriveSavers Data Recovery (herein DDR) is the best and maybe only game in town for recovering data from an SSD, so I followed up on their recommendation.
It started out great. I called and the DDR rep made very reassuring noises and a strong statement that they would perform an initial assessment and very likely be able to get the data back, but no cost to me if they couldn’t. Since they are close, and since this was my bread and butter we were talking about, I skipped the offer for FedEx shipment to and from their shop and opted to drop off my stuff in person. Their shop is neat, with interesting displays of the most truly abused equipment from which they’d successfully recovered data. The receptionist assured me that they would get whatever was left on my laptop. She told me that they would follow up with me within two days (this was Monday, she said Wednesday). I made it clear that my laptop warranty was due to expire within a week and I hoped for quick turnaround. I signed my baby over, and then… it got disappointing.
First off, as I’m leaving the shop, out comes some cholo-​looking dude (not necessarily racist, Urban Dictionary it), in full cholo regalia, from the back room to collect my equipment. Nothing against cholos, but this place bills itself as the absolute top end service provider in their industry. Dress the part is all I’m saying, for bob’s sake. Maybe I expected a robot or drone to come get my baby. I don’t know. But I checked my anxiety along with any remotely racist, classist, crotchety bs and said goodbye in high hopes I’d be really kicking my own ass for that bs, later, after the dude saved my hide.
That said, I rate DDR One Star:
1) It was a week before I heard back from them (at the time I figured, well, shit happens, or maybe they were taking extra care with my stuff, so no problem), at which point they called because…
2) They needed the password. (WTH? This really caught the industry leaders by surprise? Take care of that on day one, FGS!)
3) It took another two days for them to get back to me with a quote of $ 2,000 — that’s WITH the student discount, btw! At that point I gave them my verbal consent to begin the actual recovery, and we talked about keywords they could use in conducting the search for my files.
Note, this astronomical quote despite the fact they told me that the hard drive showed no physical damage. Further, they’d been able to determine the problem — the new OS had more or less randomly installed across the drive. I was relieved — they were on top of it and could see what needed to be done.
Meantime, the next morning I called the laptop manufacturer (not for the first time) and they told me when I got the laptop back I would need to run a diagnostic to determine if the problem was with the hard drive or the motherboard. I immediately called back to DDR to cancel the order until I had run that diagnostic, since I hoped beyond hope I might be spared having to shell out nearly a full term’s tuition to get what I needed if a new motherboard might somehow sort things out.
4) They put me on hold, and moments later came back on the line to break the news that my data could not be recovered. That is, they could find no files with the keywords we’d discussed and more damningly — nothing could be recovered because it was a severe logical problem.
5) I tried engaging them in discussion about the results of the initial assessment and search so as to be clear what I might be able to tell the laptop manufacturer’s service techs, but DDR suddenly had no information to share.
Call me an idiot, but I don’t see how they go from 1 – 4 without being accused of a few logical problems of their own, but hey — I’m no tech wiz.
My interpretation? They know they are one of the only games in town, they didn’t appreciate my cancelling the order, and they basically said what they needed to say so as to ensure I didn’t come back and put them through a similar start/​stop order. Business must be good. I mean, they saw the SSD image, they figured it was a difficult job and went to the trouble to figure out a high end estimate, then, within a minute of my changing my mind they reveal they had the perfect work flow that allowed them to determine it’s a total loss?
I call horseshit. But hell — at this point, I’m used to the idea of kissing my data goodbye. I’d love to be proven wrong about DDR.
*Follow up – DDR did reach out after I’d posted this review & demonstrated a concern to reflect on their business model/​practices. If that should somehow make a future customer’s experience with them positive, more power to them.

Drive Savers rescued me from a major heartbreak! I get to see my baby sister every couple of years, so we really full our time together so much fabulousness. We were nearing the end of a 2 week vacation filled with so many amazing moments that had captured in pictures when my bag was taken by a wave in the ocean… Yes, of course all of our pictures were on my phone that was quickly destroyed by the ocean water. We took the phone to a local place who thought they could retrieve the files… FAIL. After catching my breath from the news, I learned about Drive Savers from an Apple tech. Drive Savers had a strong success rate with situations like this, they had so much more experience, technology and equipment than the average repair places. They gave me hope that they could retrieve my files. The phone was not only water damaged, but the insides has already started to corrode. I was so disappointed. But, a couple of days later I got the call from Driver Savers with the EXCITING NEWS that they were able to retrieve ALL of the files from my phone! Every single fabulous vacation picture and video was saved! I can only begin to express how thrilled I was with their expertise, accomplishment and outstanding customer service! Thank you, Driver Savers, for saving me from a horrible heartbreak. Thank you for getting back all of the incredibly amazing vacation memories captured in pictures and videos!!!

My MacBook Air died when an airplane drink fell on it. Drivesavers restored all data for around $ 1200 when Apple couldn’t. Customer service was great, and I got all my priceless files back swiftly.

Pricing, communication, and results, all amounted to terrible business practices at my expense.
First, the pricing is ridiculous.
Before I sent my phone I was quoted a price between $ 400and $ 1,900 to recover the data (software issue on boot-​up, no physical damage) after a referral discount.
After I sent the phone, surprise, the quote lands at the upper end.
The «priority service» would have been up to $ 6,900 on their quote, so the pricing I got was for the «economy service» (5 to 7 business days). I took it as I was told there was a good chance of recovery.
Problem is that I never heard back from them after the 5 – 7 business days advertised.
When I chased them down (they don’t communicate through e-​mail as they apparently don’t believe in either putting things in writing or giving people busy at work or traveling a way to monitor things, I was told that «they needed more time». That’s it, no explanation, no timeline.
Finally I got somebody to tell me that they needed one more week and that they would absolutely have everything done by then and it looked good.
The week past and the only thing I got from them was radio silence.
So, I chase them down again to get a status and am told that «they are doing everything they can». Well not to honor your overpriced service commitment after two weeks of giving me the run-​around.
Sorry but either you have been sitting on my work to blackmail me into the insanely priced priority service or you are not able to do the service you advertise, and when you sell your service at that price-​point that is not acceptable.

Distrust. Threatening demeanor. Overpriced.
After I sent them my drive, they quoted my job as $ 2200. When I declined the job, they gave me this attitude as if I had no right to get my drive back.
They were afraid that by sending my drive back I could get estimates from other companies. They kept insisting that I give them a counter-​offer. It was obvious that they were afraid of losing my business, and as a result of that, they came off very desperate and aggressive. They could have had my trust if they changed their attitude.
I got to say that I was extremely fortunate to have gotten my drive back in one piece. There was NO WAY I would return to DriveSavers after my awful experience with their sales/​customer service, so I instead took my business elsewhere.

Highly recommend this company if you are in the market for data recovery. For as much as it is frustrating to have this issue, they have patiently explained every step of the process. Communication is excellent (and fast) and pricing is up front and honest. Every business should be run like these people run theirs!

Losing data was a very stressful situation for my dental office. DriveSavers was recommended to us by 2 of our friends. Their customer service was excellent. They empathized w/​us and the situation. They sent us tags for free overnight shipping and no charge for the evaluation. I’d recommend this company to anyone!

UPDATE 6÷3÷15:
After seeing this Unilocal Review Rebecca, the customer service rep from Drive Savers called, apologized profusely and attempted to get to the bottom of my experience there. They immediately replaced my drive with a new one and offered to attempt to recover my data gratis, even though it had now been nearly six months and had been overwritten. They were able to recover some of my RAW files which I appreciate immensely, and returned both the damaged drive and the recovered files on another new drive. So although I hope never to need them, I would say that they did everything possible to make amends for my experience there and I understand that the person who (mis)handled my drive is no longer working there.
I was also informed that Apple referrals get a discount.
Why only 3 stars? I can’t totally put aside the complete mangling, mishandling and failure of my first interaction, however the customer service is superb. If it had been a more straight forward transaction I’d probably give them 4 stars, and not 5 only because of the pricing.
INITIAL REVIEW 4÷23÷2015:
First off, know the price quoted is negotiable. Very negotiable. They started at around $ 2000 to recover a deletion error and when I balked started lowering the price down to $ 1300. I decided against it since I had already recovered the most crucial files. They returned the drive to me,
The case looked like a bag of marbles and that had been opened with a screwdriver.
My question was why did they need to open the drive in a clean room for a software issue? Their notes said the drive wouldn’t mount. Funny, the drive mounted and worked just fine when I sent it in as well as when i got it back. In spite of the mangled case that will now allow dirt and dust inside.
I called customer service and emailed them photos of the damage two weeks ago and have heard zip. Nada. Nothing.

I couldn’t believe what a pack of charlatans this company employs. I took my external HD there when it wouldn’t mount and they gave me the «free» inspection. I got a call with the good news that I would get the lowest price and a 10 percent discount to repair my drive. Problem was, that lowest price was $ 700 and the problem with my drive was simply the cable. They obviously knew this and could have suggested I use another cable but that would have meant being honest. For people who truly need their service, good on you, but know they are what they are. Good thing the kind people at Apple simply told me to try another cable. Pathetic.

Accidentally dropped my external harddrive about 18″ onto carpet and of course, it died. And of course, I hadn’t properly set up the automatic backup yet, so all my law practice files were kaput. I came to DriveSavers instead of finding someone local because a very computer savvy friend recommended them as the best.
Thanks DriveSavers for always being clear about the process and costs. I shipped it to you, chose economy service, and within about two weeks I was back in business. Sadly, it cost $ 900 plus $ 100 for the new external, but I chalk it up to a learning experience and I’m just relieved I have all my stuff back in working order.
Would’ve given a higher rating if it wasn’t so insanely expensive, but it is what it is. I’m sure people feel that way about lawyers too! :)

If your lower back hurts because there is so much money in your wallet than this is the place for you…
Meaning, you have a lot of money in your wallet. Money means nothing to you. You can barely fold your wallet because it is over-​flowing with C-​notes…
I called around to a few places before selecting Drive Savers… I chose Drive Savers because there customer service was excellent, and they sounded VERY CONFIDENT on the phone that they could recover (what I wanted…)
The couple other places I tried were a bit cheaper, but they said I had a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ shot at getting my data… That was not good enough for me. So I never called them back.
LSS (long story short) I got my iPhone 4 wet.
There were 400 plus pictures on there that I had to have. (And I had not saved them recently, and EFF iCloud. I don’t believe in it…) Anyway, money is water in this case, sent the phone and a thumb drive (mine) to them… A week or so later, pay the man, get the thumb drive back…
It had everything I wanted recovered and more. Even photos that I had deleted were there also.
All text correspondence, contacts, everything.
I don’t know what kind of magic they use but it works. Everything was organized in folders (on the thumb drive) and MAC ready also…
Like I said, you will pay, but you will get what you want.
In the end, I was happy.
