We specialize in all types of cookies… Lemon Lavendar, Coconut Lemon, etc… also specialty cakes for Birthday’s, Special Events and Weddings as well as Confections… the Infamous Peanut Butter Ball, BAKLAVA (yes and it’s yummy, fruit tarts, etc.

History

Established in 2011.

The concept of this dessert business was born back in 2004 but did not come to fruition until September of 2011… a long time but there was much planning to be done. The concept was simple…“No matter what the season, a homemade delight for every reason…” and with that the Business was born. We provide all kinds and types of desserts whether it be freshly made Baklava or handmade Truffles to lush Buttercream Frosted Cakes (that come in all flavors). We LOVE what we do and if it is not perfect, well then we perfect it because it is what our clients are asking for. What ever the need we deliver whether it be for 4000 people of 4 people, we can provide you desserts to fit your special occasion. Call us today!!!

Business Owner

Passion… something Stephanie has known throughout her professional career and through her personal life as a wife and mother of 3 young children. It is something that has been at the core of a lifelong love of cooking great food.

That passion now delves to the sweeter side of life with «A Piece of Cake and Confections». Her early experiences at home along with a stint with an East Bay caterer were actually set aside while she embarked on a 20 year career in banking (yea…we always wondered why too).

The passion was rediscovered again when she was requested to furnish a sweet concoction (the now famous Peanut Butter Ball) for a corporate charity event her company was participating in. Since then, «A Piece of Cake & Confections» has become more popular with each passing week.

Whether it’s a soft gourmet cookie, a specialty cake, or succulent specialties like baklava her creations satisfy the needs of each individual whether it be a special event or a special order for someone.

Stephanie was great. I made a very eccentric set of requests (custom cookies, gingerbread and shortbread, no nuts, in a true cellophane see through packages that could be burned without leaving a residue except ash) — and she researched and figured out how to make it all happen. Amazing.
The order was done on time, delivered to my driveway, divided into boxes that were manageable, in combustible, non-​plastic see-​through wrappers, and they were tasty. The gingerbread men and boot cookies were used to support and amuse the artists building a giant 3 story art project at Burning Man — and then to amuse, entertain, and reward the crowds that came to see it.
Stephanie’s cookies added to the whole experience — and I look forward to working with her again.

Unfortunately, I would give 0 stars if possible!
I bought the Amazon voucher ($ 5 for $ 10) and tried to use it. I called at least 10 times, spread out over a few days and different times of day (morning, noon, afternoon), and not once was my call answered. I e-​mailed the owner, Stephanie. It took her 4 days to respond even to an e-​mail! In her response, she did not answer the question I had asked in the e-​mail! I sent a follow-​up e-​mail, politely re-​asking my questions. It has now been 2 months and 2 more friendly reminders from me, and I have yet to receive any response from her.
Not sure if she is dodging me because she already got my $ 5 from Amazon, or what the deal is. Extremely annoying, unprofessional, and unreliable. I’ll edit this review if I ever hear back from her…

Update: After about 2 months of trying to reach the owner, she finally responded, bluntly, to my inquiries!
«I can mail you the truffles to you on Monday. As for cost, overnight is $ 50 «
So the total cost was $ 50 for 12 truffles! I asked if there was a cheaper way to ship them. Its been another 2 weeks and zero response! Unilocal needs to add the 0 star option! This is terrible!

With very short notice, Stephanie whipped up the most amazingly delicious birthday cake for my husband’s 40th. Moist chocolate cake with peanut butter grenache between the layers, chocolate peanut butter frosting and decorated with the most amazing chocolate peanut butter truffles around the outside. It was a masterpiece and no one could get enough of it. Thanks, Stephanie!

We tried A Piece of Cake for the first time last week for my daughter’s birthday party. She ordered chocolate-​chocolate cupcakes, and Stephanie asked if she could add in a surprise filling (white chocolate mousse, which was light and fun — they loved it!), along with a pretty flower on top. I ordered just enough for the girls (a dozen) and Stephanie was so kind to add in a couple extra for my husband and I to try! They were so delicious! I liked that they weren’t super-​sweet, and you could taste the chocolate (I feel like some places add so much sugar, that the sweetness covers up the other ingredients.) I recommend Stephanie’s cupcakes for the quality and taste (the balance of icing to cake was perfect!), and she was very professional, accommodating, and easy to work with! And, the price was right, at $ 2.50 a cupcake!

I purchased two lemon bars, three pieces of baklava, and a piece of a white chocolate granola bar. I have not tried the granola bar yet. The lemon bars were OK. Not as flavorful or interesting as I have had other places. My son ate the baklava and he said it was a little to dry and salty. I would still like to try some of the other items she makes.

I had Stephanie create a very fun and artistic cake for my husband’s 40th birthday… need I say more!!! This was for sure the highlight of the party! Stephanie was so creative and flexible with ideas that were sprung on her last minute and the final presentation was just perfect. I also have to add that this cake was so delicious and moist. We ordered the lemon cake. The flavor was very fresh and homeade. Many guests came back for another piece! I would highly recommend Stephanie’s desserts for any occasion. She is very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.
