Description

Specialties

I work with many people who have found success in certain areas of their lives, but whom often struggle in their relationships with loved ones or with themselves. I specialize in helping clients move through major life transitions such as divorce, career changes, getting sober, or coping with depression or anxiety. Many people seek out therapy acknowledging that they need relief of some sort, but they might feel unsure of what they need. Primarily, I have found that people are seeking help because they feel disconnected from others, or emotionally detached from themselves.

A large portion of my practice is dedicated to working in individual therapy with boys and men. Largely because of social and cultural roles, men can often find themselves having difficulty with identifying and connecting with various internal emotional states. This can lead to a host of issues, including difficulties in relationships, substance abuse issues, self-defeating behaviors, or isolation.

History

Established in 2007.

I recently joined a group practice in Norwich, CT called Comprehensive Psychiatric Care. My work here allows me to serve the Eastern CT community by continuing my work with children, families, adults and couples. My experience in private practice and with a group practice has given me the opportunity to work with a number of amazing and unique clients. I feel fortunate to be able to carry on living and working in Connecticut, and I hope to continue to grow and learn with my clients here.

Part of what I enjoy about my work is that I get to grow and learn with my clients. Being a psychologist, and having the opportunity to work closely with people is a humbling experience. It is work that allows me to bear witness to remarkable growth and transformation in individuals, families, and relationships. Arriving there is not an easy task, but one that I believe is well worth fighting for! I certainly don’t have all the answers, but being able to draw on my own experiences, and on my training as a psychologist has helped me to connect with those who were looking to make a change in their lives.

Thankfully for me and for the people that I meet with, other interests inform how I think about my work. Loud live rock music, thrilling bike rides, my experiences as a father, husband, son and brother, all play a part in who I am, and how I work. I may not speak about these interests much during therapy, but that is only because there is something more important to discuss, YOU!
