This is listed under educational services, but it is so much more for quirky kids, kids on the spectrum and their relieved and very happy families. For us, it means that our teen has a place to «go and hang out» with new friends and peers who are like him and are non-judgemental. With Skills, he has a social life outside of his parents’ world and is expanding his world. His favorite’s are the combo game and movie night that gets topped off with a weekly pizza party. Saturdays he does game and pokemon clubs in the afternoon topped off with a teen group that is semi-structured so a facilitator is there to guide it as a social skills building group. The only downside is that they do not take insurance, but for all of the services they offer and how important they have become to my son’s social life, they are very reasonable. It is a family owned small business and they run it that way even though they have many, many professionals on their staff and a lot of cute, nice and personable(and dare I say, it some of them quirky) young people who seem to really enjoy their job.
