North Walk Villa Convalescent Hospital

We had our mother sent here for rehab with a hair line fracture in her foot. I was very concerned the next day when our mother was not eating or drinking fluids. I asked to have her returned to the ER. They tried to tell me it was due to her pain or maybe she was depressed to be there. I asked for her pain medication and was told it is only given as requested. She was not talking… how could she ask for it. The day they finally transfered our mother to the ER we lost a mother who could never be replaced due to their negligence.

My mother was just transferred a couple days ago. We’ve never had her in a nursing home and weren’t sure what to expect. I have been blown away by how nice the staff is. Rosa, who handles the admitting, is extremely kind and caring. She knows her stuff and seems to have a good handle on her patients. The staff assisting are kind, when I called the lady that answered was sweet. Every point of contact thus far has been exceptional.
So far so good, we are pleased. Iknow it’s only been a couple of days, I’ll update my review should anything change. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I want to start by saying this place was more than I expected. My father was here for about 3 – 4 months. Not only was this place a few blocks from our home but the people there were kind.
The rooms are small with typically two beds. This facility is not very big and you would not notice it driving by. The parking is a bit of a challenge if you have a large car. However, my dad was comfortable here and my mother was able to spend the night with him even though she wasn’t really allowed. However, he did get the care he needed. My father was bed bound and unable to speak due to several strokes. He left there speaking and finally be able to move his limbs on his own. This is huge!!!
I have to say i did request a tour and spoke to all the staff and directors. I took the initiative and I made sure they knew how important he is to me and how I would keep a watchful eye. Our family took turns spending the night so he was never alone and I took alot of time to get to know his nurses and doctors on a personal level. I wanted to make sure what kind of people were caring for my father.
They were all great at answering my questions. One of the things I like was that they do have some activities for them. My father was bed bound and could not attend alot of events because of his condition but in the summertime they had a luau for patients and families. They had food, music and live hawaiian entertainment.
They actually moved my father under a shaded tent in a special chair so he can participate. They gave him lei and made the the moment perfect.
Yes, its a smaller facility but it was clean compared to others. It worked are well for our family.

I placed my Mother in their care two years ago, mostly because it was a smaller facility and I thought she would get more attention. The rooms are mostly two beds to a room and not three which I liked as well. I only recently had to move her to another facility closer to my home, but the care she received while there was wonderful. John, who was the first person to greet me when I was checking out different places in the area, was always kind, gentle and friendly with me and my Mother. She received very good care and the staff always bent over backwards to try to accommodate her, especially the Manager, «Mr. Michael», which was not easy feat. It is not the Hilton of facilities, but the staff more than makes up for any creature comforts that may be lacking. I would recommend this facility.
