Updated review — Still probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, but had to dock a point because their wait times have become horrendous. What used to be a quick 30 minute meal has now turned into an hour long experience for even something as simple as tacos. I would probably stop coming if they didn’t have free chips and salsa while I waited.

My girlfriend and I discovered this place while going for walks across the street over the summer. We’re quite happy with the food. Things could be a bit cleaner overall, but the food and location are good. Service isn’t too bad either. Prices are very reasonable.

My wife and I have always been on the search for good and authentic Mexican food since we moved from California in 1978. This place serves authentic street food!
I had menudo and it was the best I have had outside of Mexico and the Southwest. I also had an outstanding cheese and jalapeño tamale. My wife had a chile relleno which is the best she has had in the East.
The chips are not as fresh as I would like but the salsas are outstanding.
We ordered two burritos to go. Wow. The spicy pork is outstanding. The Chorizo is equally as good.
This is a classic hole in the wall restaurant. It is not a place for a first date but it is the kind of place where you know you will get good food. It is not fancy. The services is nice.
The prices are incredible when you look at the quality of the food.
I rank it on equal par with Rincon and Los Portales.

This is authentic Mexican food. The staff and much of the clientele are Mexican. There’s a reason for that. Great location just across from the SoNo boat launch ramp and visitor dock.

This place is crap. The service was horrible and the wait time was even worse. The nachos were in a word gross. I don’t know how people could call this authentic. It is more like a lazy staff making lazy food. The only good thing I can say about this is the containers the food they came in. They were pretty nice.

We didn’t dine in, we did take out and everything was incredible. We tried an array of tacos– shrimp, spicy pork, chorizo and tongue everything was delicious. I’m ooking forward to dining in or at least doing take out again!

No complaints! Just had a most delicious soup in the form of the Molcajete Mixto. Fantastic broth combined with shrimp, meats and veggies. Spicy, but perfect for my taste. As everybody says, chips are excellent as is the salsa.

I order delivery from this place every week. The tacos and burritos are delicious! I recommend ordering the Mexican sausage! Yummy and affordable!

Always delicious! Our favorite Mexican restaurant by far — with so many options in the area to choose from. Their cabbage salsa is exceptional. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price.

Solid Mexican food. I would say it’s the best Mexican in South Norwalk considering the alternatives (sorry Acapulco, but you’re horrible). We haven’t eaten in the restaurant get but we did get delivery (yes you read that correctly!). Took about an hour to get to us though unfortunately. The guacamole was good as was the ceviche de camarón, but the burritos were nothing to write home about, even with the carne al pastor. It hit the spot but of course I’ve had better (Tacos Méxicos, Río, etc).

This place is the real deal. Authentic, delicious food in a no-​nonsense environment. I guess that’s one way of saying «hole in the wall» but that’s what I was craving after eating at tons of overpriced and underwhelming Connecticut eateries.
I’ve loved everything I’ve tried at this family run gem — the quesadillas, tortas (a personal favorite), sopes, tacos. Each meat is differently spiced and delicious. A meal for two can rarely cross $ 30. And they deliver too!

They have great chips and salsa, the cabbage salsa is the best! You can get containers to go. I really like the tacos, spicy shrimp, enchiladas and burritos. Beer and margaritas are not that expensive.

The food here certainly was not *bad*, however, it wasn’t really very good either. Another odd veggie burrito situation. I ordered vegetable burritos sans cheese or dairy. The burrito arrived looking good, but with sour cream on it. OK… I don’t always have to be the a-​hole vegan. After scraping off all the sour cream, I pick up the burrito ready to bite in. I do, and while there are no meaty surprises (thank god), it is just rice and tomatoes. Where are the vegetables for the «vegetable burrito»? I mean, seriously? Rice and tomatoes. No broccoli? peppers? mushrooms? Squash? Corn?
Come on, man. While the rice and tomato burrito didn’t taste bad, it was just kind of lame. I was expecting some tasty seasoned veggies wrapped in a nice soft tortilla. I just got bland rice and a few warm tomato slices. Disappointing.

I’ve driven by this place for years and finally decided to stop for lunch. It’s In a run down strip mall in Sono so it’s easy to just keep on going. However, it’s worth a stop.
Good authentic Mexican food. Inside is old style Mexican décor with maybe 10 tables. Tacos are simple Mexican style, meat, onion, and cilantro. With some meat options normally not found outside of Mexico; like tongue and liver. I had three tacos: shrimp, chorizo, and spicy pastor/​pork. All delicious. Loved the spicy pork, which was spiced up enough to make you sweat. Great!
The standard basket of chips comes with a salsa which was ok and 3 other tasty not so standard sauces for use with your meal. 3 tacos and a beer will cost you just $ 11 bucks. Not bad.
